Who is Your inspiration?

OK, troops. There is probably a thread like this somewhere, but I can't be bothered looking. I need you to tell me who your hero is. What one person do you look up to. From your family and friends to historical figures or fictional characters, what one person do you look to for inspiration? And how do they inspire you?


My inspiration is Hitler. Now please, don't start a lynching, we all have our opinions.

I will tell you why he is my inspiration"¦

He killed six million jews! Hehe. NO! Just kidding. It's a joke, man! What's six mil? Really? Those guys are like rats, kill one and another ten appear..

A single death is a tragedy; a million deaths is a statistic.

The reason Hitler is an inspiration to me is very simply, he gave his life a purpose. He did what so few people do, he had a goal, and he tried to achieve it.
An' Hitler wasn't a particularly bright guy, he left school with no qualifications. He wanted to be an artist, for which he was told repeatedly he had no talent at. His life sucked, he really was a shmuck. All he had was his hatred of Jews, which just grew and grew. And then fate took a hand during WW1. Two things happened. Germany was defeated(and then treated unbelievably badly) and Hitler got pwned by poison gas, which had an extraordinary effect on his vocal cords, and gave him his greatest power. His voice.

And suddenly the shmuck had the most unbelievable growth of ambition. HE BELIEVED IN HIS WORK, IN WHAT HE WAS DOING. Unfortunately(for him.. Cough) his arrogance outgrew his ambition. That his ambition was to kill millions of people and create his own world doesn't matter to me. I don't care that his purpose was evil, I just care that he had purpose, and he truly believed in it. (and also that he was batshit crazy helps)

But yeah, Hitler, my hero. 😀

I looke up to my mom because she is an INDEPENDENT woman who takes care of three kids, provide foos, clothes, more than enough for them all......I guess I look up to her.....

Hitler? You do know that lots of people have goals and acheive them, right? Lance Armstrong, maybe? I'm just sayin'.

My mom is inspirational to me, I guess. In an annoying sort of way....she's very strong and independant.....I wish I could live up to that, it's kind of daunting.

You know; Hitler ain't my inspiration, but I have to almost agree with you PJ, to some extend.
Take away the "evilness" (and that takes a while) and you have a man with a a few bright ideas. My favorite one is the idea behind Volkswagen, the car of the people. An easily accessible car for the little people.

Now, I think the way you put it, PJ, you will offend people. But then again; that's what you want, right? Cause otherwise you can't sleep at night knowing you didn't offend someone today. Still, it's easy to offend people nowadays.

My inspirations in life are the Amazons and Virgina Woolf, oh yeah.

My dad used to live in Schwabisch Hall, Germany and there was the neatest auto museum not far from there, couple of towns over, maybe. They had some early Volkswagens and three-wheeled BMW's in there. Very interesting to see!

Wow Hitler...that's the first time i've heard of anyone actually naming Hitler as someone that inspired them. Meh...each to their own.

Only one person comes to mind, for this question. That would be...yes cue the 'cheese' factor, but it would be my Dad. He's probably the best dad I could ask for, he's been there through everything, worked hard to provide for me and my siblings, always puts everyone first, before himself, and remained strong through the tough times. When I think of what he had to sacrifice to look after his own parents, well it makes me want to be like him and be strong and all that good stuff.

My hero would have to be my Dad. Step-dad actually, not that that matters. He's the hardest working man I've ever seen, and he gives so much. This man came into my life 7 years ago, after I had grown up having no father. (Or at least not one I care to see.) And since then I have just stood in awe of how wonderful he is. He never quits, he works on a problem until it's solved, and will give the shirt off his back for his family. He's worked his fingers to the bone to become as successful as he is today....and I guess I just hope I'm as successful and hard working...not to mention as caring and reliable as he is when I'm older. Okay.....I realize now that the sap- factor on this post is right up there with the ending of Mrs. doubtfire or some crap like that so.....well, uh....get off me! 😉

There is one person, and only one person that inspires me.....Me.
I don't worship any living or dead person in a bid to emulate them because i want more then any one man(or woman-i know insane but there are women with power....shock) has ever had.
I don't think its wrong to say i want the world...anything less is not good enough.
I realise that you all think i will eventually be disappointed, but we shall see...🙂

my hero like nslay is my dad, my step dad. he came into my life when i was 8 (i'm 22) he has been such a force of love of will... he is such a hard working man! he(like nslays dad) is the hardest working man that i've ever seen. He has been here through bad days, good days.. days when we all thought we wouldn'æt make it till tomorrow...(my mom has a pill adicton, so we have had problems with that the last 10/12 years, many many MANY arguments, fights) and he has been here through all of it. been the person we could go to. if i am half the person that he is, i know i'm a good person.

Amber Benson 😀 What I love about her is that she isn't the best actress or director or writer or singer (damn that almost sounded negative, you guys know I love her right?).. But she does all this things just 'cause she wants to and she doesn't have to be the best. I completely adore Chance. It's not the greatest film ever made, far from, but it's completely sweet and.. well.. I just want to have the sort of carreer that Amber has, that's why she's like my inspiration and stuff.. I think she's completely awesome 🙂

He wanted control. Which, funnily enough, I'll assume was borne from the aftermath of world war 1, and the shitty way Germany was treated. Not because ww1 was their fault(which it wasn't) but simply because they lost. Hitler wanted to make the world a better place. OK, so his idea of making a better world is grossly disturbing, but at least he tried.

Also, if all people had the ambition and capacity to do great 'evil' that Hitler had, the world would be a much better place. Of course, assuming that most people don't act on that ability for great evil( which they wouldn't). Hitler did, big whoop. Peopld do 'evil' things for good ends all the time. Had it not been for Stalin, there is a good chance Hitler would have succeeded. And Stalin was easily as 'evil' as Hitler, if not more so.

Then open your eyes. Millions of people spend their entire lives looking for meaning to life, never to find it. Millions more don't even bother. Hitler found meaning: to make the world a better place.

What does it matter that 'through his actions' millions of people died? Numbers are not important. If people weren't such sheep then Hitlers plans would have been for nought.

Not really. Hitler was trying to make a better world. Also, antisemitism was rife throughout Europe in that time period. I'm sure had he been French he would have used the same tactic to rise to power, and it more than likely would have worked. Hitler didn't instigate hatred of Jews, he just latched onto it. He used it to his advantage. Ultimately, Hitler learned from the twisted world around him. That people lay the blame solely at his feet is just bullshit.

Sure he tried to make the world a better place...in his own eyes...and what he saw was a sick, twisted, and distorted view...

Just because you try to make the world better to what you believe doesnt make it right or just to kill...killing innocent people is never going to make things better...

MAybe teh blame shouldnt be placed solely on Hitler...but he still used and took advantage of the things around him to commit even mroe heinous crimes. A murder takes advantage of his surroundings as well.

I have two inspirations...

Jonathan Larson is my biggest inspiration. I watched a documentary on his life today, and he is one of the most inspirational men that ever lived. He died at a young age, but out of the years he lived he made the most out of them. He acted, was involved in music, just like I am, but he made something out of it. He did what some people now would find silly and a waste of time, but I think that he is brilliant. He spent his life trying to make something out of it, and it payed off with RENT, which I think is his greatest accomplishment.

Idina Menzel is my second biggest inspiration. She is talented in singing and acting, plus she's pretty too. I think her biggest accomplishments were performing in Wicked as Elphaba and in RENT as Maureen. I look up to her because she is a very talented person, and she has done everything I want to accomplish in my life. Plus, she was noticed for her amazing talent, and unlike other people that are popular nowadays, she actually has talent.

I have a few other smaller inspirations, but I can't say much about them. I know most people around my age look up to people like Brittney Spears and all those new rap/pop/hip-hop artists, but no. They're stupid and they have nothing going for them except popularity and looks now, and I don't like people like that.
