Who likes Angel?

I don't hate Angel. He can be pretty annoying at times... but this isn't an Angel-hate thread, so my mouth is shut on the subject!

I love when Angel's goofy. His usual demeanor makes those times that much funnier. It's great! Like when he thinks about his dancing at Cordy's or when he pretends to be a tourist in Sense and Sensitivity.
Plus, he's smokin'! Especially in Season 1 of Buffy... damn. Gotta love the black jacket, white shirt look, huh?

I adore Angel. I was kinda "meh" on him before AtS, but once he got his own show he became a much more interesting and engaging character. He was OK on Buffy, but he kinda just had two settings, "Brood" and "Brood over Buffy". On AtS he had "Brood" and "Awesome" and "Funny" and "Dark" and "Singing" and "Philosphical" and "Dorky" and so much more... he was just a more fun character to see. I think that's the main reason why I love Cangel and dislike Bangel, but that's another argument.

I love Angel because despite his darkness and angstiness, he's still everything a hero should be. He's a true champion. I love his speeches to Kate ("If nothing we do matters, then all that matters is what we do.") and Connor ("Nothing in the world is the way it ought to be. It's harsh, and cruel. But that's why there's us. Champions. It doesn't matter where we come from, what we've done or suffered, or even if we make a difference. We live as though the world were as it should be, to show it what it can be.") Despite everything, he still fights the good fight, and I respect that. He's now my joint-favourite character with Faith.

Great post. I agree with everything you've said. Angel is my third favorite character.

I didn't care for Angel much until Buffy season 2 and 3. Then he got his own show and he became more developed and less boring. Sure he broods but at least he gets mocked amusingly for it. 😀

What a Great Character

I know that this might sound a little random, but I just want to say, good for the producers for putting Angel in! Characters like him, Faith, and Spike who are complex and interesting just really improve the show(s). Every program should have it's 200-year-old-vampire-with-a-soul to spice things up. His life is so long and complicated (and kind of random) that ideas for episodes must have been boundless.

Anyway, regardless of his personality or actions, I just want to congratulate the producers for having Angel, who helped form Buffy and later went on to have his own show. Again, good for them! =)

I'll echo what others have said ... I think Angel in BtVS was kind of boorish, coming across mainly as a shirtless hunk to keep certain demographics interested.

Once he got his own show he was a lot more interesting, at least for the first 3 seasons or so.

I love Angel he's my favorite male character but I love him on his show. I dont dislike him on btvs though I never could I love Angel. I just find him limited on that show, I don't like his relationship with Buffy. He grows much more on his own show. I love him from the beginning of Ats to the end. just once hes away from buffy 😉

He has some good scenes in btvs tho....away from buffy.

How's this for love. I love Angel's face, his arms, his legs, his chest, his back, his soul, his heart not talking about the one that no longer beats, his mind, his fingers, his hands, his feet. his warm brown eyes, his lips, his nose. Have I missed anything. I feel quite protective of him too. Don't mess with Angel or I will mess with you.

I seriously do believe Angel is a great character there are so many layers to him and I enjoy seeing them. I love to watch him on his own show. To me Angel is a character that is so human yet not. He makes mistakes he lives with them and he tries to improve.

Ok. First of all I have to say I love love LOVE Angel!!!! Maybe even as much as Spike.....maybe. 🙂

Angel has so many qualities I would want in a man. Honest, couragous, humble, self sacrifcing, humorous, intelligent, loving and of course goodness in his heart. And not to mention super hott!!!!! I think everyone deserves a chance for redemption. Angel does the right thing and suffers for his sins....there's just something really attractive about a man who really has changed... and in his soul deserves redemption. Plus, he's a unique vampire and a hero. His dark side only makes him more attractive and interesting and a little mysterious. Brooding self torture keeps him a little wound up but he sure knows how do blow off some sexy ass kicking to the deserving! Hell ya I like Angel!!!

I like Angel in seasons 1 & 2 of Buffy. In season 3 he really started playing backseat to Buffy, which makes sense both plot wise as well as logically (the show has a really strong feminist message and all). That said, I love him on his own show.

Really?! lol. Because, in the last week and a half, I've personally seen more Spike hatred than anything. lolz. But, since it's my Flannie and she wants her happy, I'll just leave you guys to this thread! 😉
