I like season 1 . but it's not the strongest season ever but it was a good start to the buffyverse , the episode i like are Welcome to the Hellmouth,The Harvest,The Pack,Nightmares,Out of Mind, Out of Sight and Prophecy Girl.
These are the reason I liked season 1
1) Very funny moments with Cordelia , epically in nightmare , her nightmare is to be a nerd !
2) A brilliant star to the buffyverse

I give the season overall 85/100

cordy being dragged to the chess club - lol one of my favourite bits ever
I LOVED Never Kill a Boy on the First Date.
"You'll be facing a pretty hefty fine in the morning."
And then the oh-so-great-quote "If the apocalypse comes, beep me."
"Buffy said she said some sort of a beeping thing."

And Cordelia driving to the library in the season finale. It's great to see the transition the characters have made from season 1 to season 7. But it was only 12 episodes long. 80/10

Rarely are first seasons on television shows considered the strongest, but season one of Buffy is still a solid opening nonetheless.

It's tougher to have a strong first season because the characters are still developing and you as the viewer is still empathizing with the characters and even the rest of the elements within the show. It's hard for writers to be able to write you into a comfort zone so quickly.

I actually really like Season 1, it isn't my favourite season by any means but taking into account it was it's first and the short amount of episodes they had unlike the other seasons I was impressed. I felt they gave you a good understanding of who and what the characters were about and established it quickly during 'WttH' and 'The Harvest'

I like season one, very different than the others obviously but Cordy and Buffy steal the whole season, bitchy Cordy at her best and Buffy at her witty best, i like it, i think the best episode is probably the pack though, the whole Xander Willow relationship is very cute 🙂

I like it but obviously it pales in comparison with what comes. I feel like if I told someone to give Buffy a chance they might watch season one and not see why a person might get obsessed with the show. Most of it is pretty good, even if I wouldn't pick any of the episodes as series high points. Still, a couple of cringeworthy moments here and there, and I don't like "The Witch" or "Teacher's Pet." Those episodes both feel strongly to me like they were still trying to figure out how this was going to work as a regular series and they're hard for me to rewatch. I can't explain why, but they just don't feel right. Starting with "Never Kill a Boy On the First Date" though, it seems like cast and crew are starting to really figure the show out.

Its brilliant. Even though its only half as long as 6 and 7, it still manages to be better than them. Love the master. And Darla getting the first scene!

Oh, I think I love it. It's very nostalgic, you know? The big hair, the novelty of computers and all. It's such a fun little season. I don't necessarily like the demon Willow falls for (Moloch, right?) or Owen, but those are the only things that stand out in season 1 that I truly dislike.

Season one has one of my all time favorite scenes from any Jossverse shows: Buffy's "ooh, juice!" bit just kills me every time.

I liked season 1 when I first watched it (obviously, since it was enough to get me to watch the rest of the series), but now that I've seen the other, very vastly superior seasons, I find it downright difficult to watch. Maybe if I didn't compare it to the seasons that followed, I'd like it more, since it is quite funny at times and the ridiculous hair, clothing, and lingo do give me a nice feeling of nostalgia, but it's far weaker than the rest of the show.

Season 1 is dope. they covered not just vampires, but also withces, and demons asort from the first season regardless of its short ness. The transition from the movie to the first season could've been handled better, but Its not a big deal.

I watched it again recently and have to say, I liked it better than I thought I did. Wish it would've went longer and established the Master as a more formidable foe than he was.

When I first watched Season 1, it wasn't enough to "hook" me. The first time around, I only caught maybe 6 episodes of the season... I became a die-hard fan about halfway through Season 2 and have been completely addicted ever since. But now, looking back, I love Season 1. I agree that they did a wonderful thing in taking only half a season to establish these characters and make you feel involved with them, and you have to love the horrible 90's clothes that tried so hard to be trendy, and the crazy hair. 🙂

season 1 has never been a favourite of myne.
i agree the 90's clothes are horrendous, lol.
i thought season one was a wee tiny bit cheesy, just the vampires.

I have not watched season one for about three years,in fact
i haven't watched buffy at all in a year and a half.Well it was on sky a while back, but theres so many ads on there i didn't
bother.
Anyway i digress.I liked it in the sense that buffy was this super strong gal and she fought vampires, and she had friends that were not cool or anything, they were geeks, socially inept?
They made being uncool, cool in a sense.
So yeah,i digged it🙂

I think season is great, it luanched Buffy. It could've so easily gone wrong and been rejected by the public and tv companies. Buffy came on to the scene at just the right time. I always thought there were more episodes in Season 1, I was surprised to see that were only 12 episodes.

i might start watching season 1 , cos i haven't saw it in years, i've always skipped that season, cos i really couldn't be bothered with it, i dunno why ,but i've always disliked it.
I can never watch it. I always just go to season 2 then onwards.

Hahaha sounds weird. 😛

I think cause things got so much better in Season 2 - the production values got higher, they delved into more serious topics to some extent, it got a little darker. It's hard to go back then and watch how it started out after seeing what it became. 🙂

I love that they managed to create an interesting world, and some original characters in such a short space of time.

A lot of the storylines don't seem as well thought out as anything post Season 1 though - a lot of things seem too obvious and coincidental.

And I hate how they just knock Giles unconscious in what seems like every episode.

Season One was -okay-
It's the only season that I might skip when watching all of them, which works out nicely because it's the first one and you don't miss too much.
I thought that the characters were pretty well developed seeming as there was limited time.
The thing I liked most about season one was just getting to know the characters, how Buffy hated the idea of her being a slayer, she just wanted to lead a normal life.
Where Willow and Xander weren't in the IN scene but yet Buffy took to them as friends.
Seeing how Cordy was the "popular one" and the "we hate cordelia club".

When I first started watching Buffy years ago, it was on TV and I didn't get to see any of the season one episodes until later, had I of seen season one on TV first, I don't know if I would have continued watching it or not.
