Who Likes BtVS Season One?

I like season 1, it isn't as good as later seasons but the it does an excellent job of establishing characters and universe. The episodes weren't that bad either, Angel and Witch were two great episodes

BtVs...the best 'new' TV-Show ever made.
in the time there were Xena - The Princess warrior, Hercules, and even Sliders....(love the 90's...) Buffy was the best of these show's...

Xena - a female warrior in the world of ruthless male warriors...
well, correct me if i'm wrong, but woman are not so helpless ass they look like😕
especialy when you have the ''knee and nuts'' experience as a male either😱

no, at the same time, Sliders and Buffy were refreshing.
sliders about traveling trough other dimensions.
and then buffy.. a young girl who had the secret of being a slayer of vampires and demons at young age.
a girl who ripped out of here safe human beiing, into a dangerous w orld at night.
the knowledge of that what a normal person never know.
that knowledge given to a girl of 15!!!

i believe thats one of the succes moments of josh whedon for his buffy-show.

that ''what would you do when something like this is given to you?'' hit the tv-show lovers right in their face...

if ever should ask me the question about buffy, the best tv show ever? i say for sure a big YES! IT IS!

I'm watching Season 1 again with my son. He's never seen it.

My thoughts are:

It's "monster scarier" than the other seasons. There are more incidents of scary monsters than the other seasons.

That henchman vampire (the male) who helps the master was great!

It's not as good as the later season, but still enjoyable.

The Harvest was going to destroy the world???? LOL!!! The Master is nothing compared to Glory, The First, or Willow. And he had an army of what, 2-3 vampires to destroy the world??

When I started watching this "silly show for 15 year old girls" I was warned... Season 1 is good, but midway through Season it becomes GREAT!!!! Season 1 is a lot of fun, but it ain't no Season 2 - Season 7.

If Buffy were the Beatles, Season 1 is Love Me Do, while Seasons 2 -7 are all Revolver, Rubber Soul, SGT Pepper, White Album, and Abbey Road. But you've got to start somewhere. And it's better than Heroes, which was great for the few shows, then became terrible. And Bad Buffy is better than just about anything else. 😉

I love you for that analogy! The Beatles are my favorite!
I'll be honest now; I did love Season 1 when I first saw it because it was the "thing" that got me hooked on Buffy. I couldn't stop watching it from the first episode and so on. But when I've watched it back, it was good, but not as good as say Season 2, 3 or 5 lol.

I liked The Master he seemed like he could've been the villain of all villains (if you get me lol), even though I found him slightly camp lol.

My thoughts about Season 1 have changed lately.
I used to consider it a pretty good Season, but without much story. Nothing special...
Well, I still think it hasn't as much of a story in it as for example Season 2, but somehow it slowly became the Season I like best (apart from Season 6).

Anyway, the point is that I love Season 1!
I've watched some episodes (for example The Puppet Show) so many times that I don't even know how often I've watched it.

I agree 😀 I've watched s1 a lot and I love it. I'm not sure why cause I can see it's flaws and what not but I still adore it to death. Part nostalgia and part light-heartedness and pure fun I suspect 🙂

Season one is rough, but any first season of any show is rough. Look at the Simpsons! I miss the rituals that were supposed to take place all the time. They abandoned those after season twoish. I loved when Giles was right and Buffy blew it off. It cracked me up.

I love season one because it's so horrible. The styles (which I love for nostalgia purposes) were so 90s. The acting more like a valley girl, the cute crush Xander had on Buffy, über-geeky Willow. I have a special love for season one because that's where it all began. It all started there. Plus, it's only 12 episodes to get through.

And Buffy started out just as a mid-season replacement...

I like season 1 fine, though the others that come after are obviously more developed. Whenever I rewatch it, it seems to have more of the "cheese factor" than the others. I am often amazed at how far the show came along between seasons 1 and 2 with the plot lines and characters.

The thing I get a chuckle about is Buffy's change in fighting styles between Seasons 1 and 2. If you look at her stances and such, they are so different - and now, watching season 4, it's like a completely different slayer. Very fun to watch the changes!

I just did a re-watch of season 1 and I really, really enjoyed it. I liked the simplicity of the characters, I thought that fit very well with the high school theme. I loved the "monsters as metaphors", which is something I missed in later seasons. Overall, it was just the charm it had

I love this season. Of course, at first, I thought it truly paled in comparison to the following seasons, but, looking back, it's a fun little season that served its purpose. The show was unsure of where it was going at the time and there was a limited budget, but it still managed to be a decent season of television. Sure, there could have been a lot of things improved upon, but I like the cheesiness, the innocence of the characters, and the cute little stories. It makes for fun re-watching.

My #1 favorite from season 1 has to be The Pack. If I had to choose that would be the only episode I'd add to my ipod

I really like season one. Maybe mainly for nostalgic purposes, but I also really like all the monster-of-the-weeks. Plus, Willow is adorable as a nerd. 🙂

I have to admit. If I saw this season today for the first time, I'd think the show is really silly. But back then (because I've been watching it since the very first episode) it seemed good, because it was different tv.

So that's actually my least favorite season, but I don't hate it.

It's probably a middle of the pack season for me. It's got some episodes that I love and some that I'm not so fond of, but overall I quite like the season
