i'd hafta say faith. there was def. subtext even to oblivious lil me. (meaning i usually hafta get clobbered over the head with ten foot giants absurdly heavy lead spiked club to get anything. aights so a tad bit of exageration but ya get the point right?)
at ff net story id 817414 essay on the...subtext...
i've got two sites, but only 10 posts so no links quite yet, but, if wanted could....the joss thing is from the one site
joss even comments on the whole subtext thing
Douglas Petrie starts out playfully; Buffy has gone with a total media blackout of the fact that Angel is back from Hell, but her friends are perceptive enough to speculate that she is hiding a new boyfriend from them. Called on it at the Bronze, she admits "I am going out with somebody tonight, as a matter of fact." Cue Faith, who pauses only for a "Yo, what's up? Time to motorvate" before whisking Buffy away; the latter leaves the gang, and the slash-fictioneers in the audience, with a teasing "We're just good friends." Joss Whedon himself responded to some posts about Slayer-Sapphism with the following:
"I just read the piece about Buffy and Faith... and by God I think she's right! I can't believe I never saw it! Actually, despite my facetious tone, it's a pretty damn convincing argument. But then, I think that's part of the attraction of the Buffyverse. It lends itself to polymorphously perverse subtext. It encourages it. I personally find romance in every relationship (with exceptions). I love all the characters, so I say Bring Your Own Subtext! "
had another link to a thing with the subtext thing (pardon my non-sensicalness, it crops up from time to time. i have this tendency to...well forget words. once i forgot the word 'glass' 3 times in less than a month. ten minutes trying to explain to my dutch aunt, and neighbour, what i was talking about. a drinking glass. yea, go the brain power hidden here) i tend to go on a bit too, unless stopped. one word and can consider fully stopped. hope twasnt too long an' all....
its on the other comp, if i get a chance and anyone's interested.....
outta the list, angel 'course. never did like spuffy that much, its aight an' all, just more a bangel...some reasons that bangles song pops up...sounds similar i suppose bangel and bangle...or am i pronouncing it all wrong? its been known to happen. far too often. i can sorta see the xander thing, but...i didn't like riley. he just....not really...and in the end the whole vampy thing....
im more of a faith/buffy fan tho.
