Best Angel relationship

I think the best person for Angel was Cordy but as a friend.

I love Bangel and Buffy was good for him in that she gave him something to care about again. He was able to share his feelings with her, and she motivated him to be a better person and gave him something to fight for. But he only engaged with Buffy not with the world at large. Even in Buffy S3 you got the impression that Angel spent his day either with Buffy or sat around waiting for her to turn up.

In Angel S1 + S2 he could still be broody but he engaged with the world at large much more (well apart from in his beige phase!) and Cordy has to take a lot of credit for shoving him out into the world.

Angel + Cordy as a couple didn't really work for me but it should have done. By that time they were 2 lonely, damaged people looking for comfort and coming together through friendship which sounds ideal for the show at that time, but it wasnt written well or indeed consistently and with the love triangle and the changing her character too much and then she went missing for a few eps and the whole St Cordyness of S3 it feels like a missed opportunity (although I do still love them in Waiting in the Wings)

Cordgel would’ve been nice and a great relationship! They both changed and bettered each other so much.

I'm going Faith. Not as a romantic relationship, but as someone who is working the same struggle for atonement he is.

*For the record, none of my top 10 favorite TV relationships are romantic.

Cangel all the way. It was the most mature relationship he had. Half the choices are not even realistic romantically. 😆

I stick to what the characters say, just to make no mistake. She's Buffy,
Angel has loved many women and Darla was and always she will be important to him,
but the great love of Angel's life is Buffy.
He has never loved anyone like he has loved and will love Buffy Anne Summers.

Can you imagine if Kate went from hating Angel and being angry at him for not saving her dad to smooching him in the next scene… 😂

In the Jossverse, yes. There, more often than not, hate and loathing = love.

Well, they did 'make up' around the time they last saw each other. They could have added her to the team. 😉 I always thought she should have joined because she was lonely and didn't have a family, like the main crew (minus Fred).

Also, I could more easily get behind Angel & Kate than some of the other examples like Eve (ew), Nina (who?), Spike (wha?), Faith (never was any romantic undertones with them). 🙃

I think it'll always be between Buffy and Cordy. With Buffy it's more dramatic, and it plays out like a first love trope (except Angel has lived for over 200 years 😅). With Cordy, it grows over time and both characters show more maturity around each other. The only way I could consider Buffy and Angel differently is if I'd have seen more of them after Angel's character was able to grow out of the shell he was in during BtVS S1-S3. Seeing the funny and loveable Angel from his own show with Buffy might have made me return to the Bangel ship that I had left.

Seeing Buffy in Los Angeles with Angel happened. "I Will Remember You" for example
Cordelia, definitely. They were, well - could have been really good together if given the chance. He trusted her, and they were good partners. Relationships based on friendship first usually work better.

His relationship with Darla was super toxic, though intense and they were super close and she knew better more than anyone. There is no doubt she was the love of his life. She was his sire, they had a special bond and they were together for a lifetime. But obviously that couldn't work after he got his soul.

Buffy? Well, they were pretty crazy about another but clearly weren't compatible. Enough said.

Nina could have been a good choice but the timing was bad.

All that said? I prefer Angel single. He's more interesting. But if I had to pick a partner for him now it would definitely be Faith. These two have been though a lot together and seem to have developed a solid friendship and partnership. I think they really admire eachother. It kinda reminds me of how Buffy and Spike are.
