I actually wanted to make this a Poll but I didn't know how so I made it a new thread (leaves room for discussion too).

So my Poll question is this. Of those male Wheddonverse characters listed below who do you thing is the coolest, nicest, strongest or in other words whom do like the most? Note that they are listed alphabetically (not in my preferable order).

1) Alpha (Dollhouse: Alan Tudyk)
2) Angel (Angel: David Boreanaz)
3) Charles Gunn (Angel: J. August Richards)
4) Giles (Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Anthony Stewart Head)
5) Jayne (Firefly: Adam Baldwin)
6) Malcom Reynolds (Firefly: Nathan Fillion)
7) Riley (Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Marc Blucas)
8) Spike (Buffy the Vampire Slayer: James Marsters)
9) Wesley (Angel: Alexis Denisof)
10) Xander (Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Nicholas Brendon)

Ofcourse there were others too, but I think I mentioned the ones with the most appearances in the shows. So, which character is more appealing to you and why? I await your responses.

I for one would vote for Malcom Reynolds captain of Serenity... I am currently watching firefly for the third time (LOVE IT by the way) and I think he is one of the best Wheddon characters ever (and for many reasons too). But anyway, I await your votes. If someone can make this a thread hold a Poll as well as leave some room for discussion, that would be really appreciated, because I didn't know how to😀

I like many of 'em, but of course Spike is my favorite.
He develops throughout the series from being this bad boy who want to kill the slayer to a lad with a soul. I like Spike because he is honest - both when he was bad, and when he falls in love with Buffy. And Buffy treats him quite badly during season 4-6, but he ends up getting back his soul because he loves her.
Oh, btw he is hot.
I could name more reasons for loving Spike but I will just jump to my second favorite guy; Xander. I love that he is loyal and he is the heart of the Scoobies.

Shouldn't it be Wash instead of Alpha? Especially considering
the latter might not actually be considered a real person...and you know, he's pretty much unrepentantly evil.

I'm gonna go with Xander...though I wish Nicholas Brendon would've gone easy on the craft services in the later seasons.

have you watched DH S2?
Spike, of course.

That said, there are other male Whedonverse characters I'm quite fond of, such as Wesley, Captain Mal, and Doyle.

Wow, I have such a hard time deciding (I like 'em all!), but my tops: Angel, Mal, Wesley, Spike. Hmm, I guess I like my men morally ambigious, huh? 😉

On the televised series, (not including the comics), Angel!!!!!

Giles is clearly the only answer to this question.

He is always looking out for the best interest of Buffy, the Scoobies, and the whole world. He's brilliant (how many languages does he speak?), he can be a total bad-ass, has the singing voice of an angel, and is incredibly kind, caring, and supportive. He's also very funny. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that he's ridiculously good-looking. 😀

Nice to see Giles getting some love after the whole 'Spikegate' thing.
I can't pick just one, so I'll pick one from each show, yeah?

Giles - BtVS
Wesley - Angel
Mal - Firefly
Topher - Dollhouse

Giles without a doubt.
He loved her very selflessly I think. He was the only in the series that was always willing to make the hard choice and to voice it. Even when it risked everything that he cared about. He is really the only 'man' among them.

Well said. I wholeheartedly agree!
SPIKE!!!! He's so awesome and cool in the later seasons of Buffy 😀. My second choice ties between Mal and Wesley, because Mal's a good, strong leader and Wesley is an interesting character, who developes alot throughout Angel.

Wesley! 😀
I thought his development was the most interesting, and I just loved all of it.
He changed a lot from season 3 of Buffy to Angel s5, but I never thought that it felt forced.

Wow so many responses in merely one day...

No other Mal supporters so far...I guess it's too early at that...

@The Unspoken

You're right I like Alan Tudyk as Wash very much (my second fav character from Firefly), but I wanted to include Dollhouse on this Poll too (and let's face it, Alpha is the only one worthwhile on Dollhouse) and I didn't want to have the same actor mentioned twice (just because he appears in two shows).

I'm reading lots of Mal love here!
I like a LOT of these characters, but I had to go with Wesley because unlike Giles(season 6-7), I always liked him. He's without a doubt the character that got the most development through both shows, ahead of Cordy. 😉
