this has bugged me for a while now, so i thought i'd put it to the open boards...why didn't Spike drink Nikki's blood when he killed her?
if Slayer blood is supposed to be so damn powerful, why did he just snap her neck and leave her there? i mean, he's tasted Slayer blood before, why was Nikki different?

Maybe he wasn't as immune to the art of the kill as he would have Angelus believe?

It's a respect thing isn't it? didn't angel once say something about not biting a victim shows that you have no respect for them or something like that? anyone got more specific info on this?

Possibly because he knew that the body would be found there on the subway car and he wanted it to look like a random mugging rather than an attack by a vampire, or possibly as an insult to her Watcher, the same as Angelus did to Giles with Jenny Calendar (that might have even been where Angelus got the idea) sort of a statement to the Watcher, who would have been the only one to see it, that Nikki wasn't a worthy enough opponent to even feed off of.

On the other hand, it might have been just the opposite, a gesture of respect to a worthy opponent. I can see Spike making a gesture like that. It's sort of poetic.

I would love to see that entire story presented in some format or other. So many questions are left unanswered, like who Robin's father was (the Watcher? That might explain why he took it as his responsibility to raise the boy. Or maybe Spike killed Robin's father in order to drive Nikki into a blind rage, making her more reckless and therefore a less dangerous foe. She certainly seemed more than a little bit pissed off at him in the subway car, much more so than Buffy ever seemed when she fought vamps.}

A version (not cannonical of course) appears in the buffy novel 'Blackout' written by Keith R. A. DeCandido which is all about Nikki with a dash of Spike. i think its one of the better tie-in books.

They were doing that cross cutting that looked totally awesome. If Spike had fed from Nikki, he'd have to have moved to bite Buffy. That would have set off his chip, wouldn't it? So I don't think they wanted to ruin the awesomeness of the effect or the intensity of the moment by having Spike end his way cool story on a headache.

Yeah, uh, I think it was 'cause he was acting it out with Buffy...he's really not gonna bite her when he loves her, especially with the chip.

Yes but the Spike said himself that the chip only goes off when he's trying to hurt someone which is why he was able to act out the whole thing with Buffy. The biting should have been no different!

Maybe he was oddly full that day?

That must be it! 😛 Thinking outside the box, smart...*Mutters* great now I sound like Anya. On the serious side - if there is one 😛 - uhm, it really doesn't make senseee 😛

I don't think Spike was on his killing slayers vendetta for their blood. Yes, he got a taste of it from the slayer he killed during the Boxer Rebellion, but I always had a feeling that he wasn't killing them for their blood. He was killing them as like a challenge to himself. He said that he was obsessed with hunting slayers... probably just for the kill.

I think so. Most vamps kill for food. Angelus killed for art, Spike for sport
After Spike had killed his first vampire slayer, he told Angelus that he [Spike] would let him [Angelus] have the next slayers blood. Spike was simply honouring his pledge.

Maybe Spike went back for the blood? hehe.

Spike has been known not to drink before though, I mean I know Nikki's a Slayer, but sometimes Spike does just go for the kill and not the feed. Such as in School Hard where he tells the terrified parent 'I'm a veel kinda guy. You're too old to eat....but not to kill' He then breaks the man's neck followed by a 'I feel better'.

Or maybe it was forward thinking, he knew that if he didn't drink her, questions would be asked !.
'sides he got a cool coat out of it.

Or maybe he was just in it to kill a slayer. It's not about feeding as much as the idea of killing a vampire slayer for the second time.

That is what I thought.
In the same way someone might hunt for sport but not kill their prey. Angelus killed Jenny but we do not see him feed from her. That was more for the art rather than sport though.

Good point.

I thought he didn't drink from her because he didn't want her to be a redneck.
Towards the end of Season 6 Spike states "I've tasted the life of two Slayers", that would imply he fed from Nikki. I think as it was suggested before he simply couldn't mimic the last part without actually moving to bite Buffy and therefore set off his chip, and breaking his narrative.

Oooh. Oooh. I think I suggested that!
I don't know. Probably just a plot hole.

Or, maybe he was just caught up in the moment. Maybe he just wanted to thrill of killing a slayer and didn't care to drink. But, just a whole lot of maybe's. Probably just an error.

EDIT:

Oh, Kemy! Nice catch!
