Why is it not liked by many?

Season 6 was a very good season, IMO, and would be my favorite had Seasons 2 and 3 not been as good as they were. Everybody has a brush with their dark side in one way or another. Willow's is worst of all, as she goes tumbling off the deep end... almost taking the world with her... until Xander got there in time to keep her from falling.

- Willow abuses magic, loses Tara, then calms down. Willow gets Tara back, then goes berserk when she sees Tara killed in front of her. In a murderous rage, she flays Warren alive, nearly kills Giles in a battle of magicks, then almost destroys the world.
- Buffy uses Spike for sex.
- Xander leaves Anya at the altar.
- Anya becomes a Vengeance Demon once again.
- Dawn, in a childish attempt to get attention, begins stealing from every store she goes to.
- Spike allows Buffy to use him for sex, then his demonic nature leads him to force himself upon her when she won't return his love.
 
Season 6 was the best season. I agree with the dark theme. I have posted on this subject so many times so i won't go into it but the darkness of it was both a nice change of pace and EXTREMELY important for the character growth. I loved it.
 
I must admit I didn't like Season 6 the first time around........there were a lot of changes and some decisions made which I hated and thought was completely out of character. BUT then when it came out on video I sat and watched all the episodes over the weekend and ended up not loving the season but understanding where they were going with it and I think it was a season that had to happen. We all become messed up at some point in our lives and for Buffy to be 'true' to the Buffyverse the characters had to go through these experiences to grow.

You just have to watch it with an openmind and not get upset cause Joss has done something that you don't personally like. I think it was the way the show had to go.
 
season six was my favorite! okay it had some ugh episodes but which season hasn't?? Don't know why everybody hates it. It was dark, but Buffy just is dark. it's allways about pain and not being happy, it's just life in a certain way
