Wiles: I Robot, You Jane Observation

Anyone ever notice that Willow has a picture of her and Giles inside her locker door when she opens it up while talking to Buffy in "I Robot, You Jane"? I noticed this when I watched the ep yesterday...
I never paid attention to it before now, but maybe it's because of her line in "Where The Wild Things Are" in s4 where she says "Now I remember why I used to have such a crush on him"....
But yeah, if you look you can see a picture of Willow and Giles by themselves. 😉 I thought it was a neat little touch and it definitely got me thinking about Wiles.
Honestly, relationships where there's a big age gap weird me out, but I can see Giles and Willow together. Obviously, I would have been freaked beyond belief if they had done it in the first couple of seasons, but I can see it in the later seasons, especially s7.
What do you think?

Makes sense to me. If she hadn't shifted preferences in S4, I can see them getting closer (I don't know about into an actual RELATIONSHIP, but at least the hinting of one) in S6 & 7.

Also, regarding Willow/Giles, I'm not so sure if I could see it. Aside from the fact that the age gap is way creepy, I think of them as having more of a big brother/little sister relationship.

If I remember correctly, I think there are a couple of episodes where you can see that. Not that I've ever noticed myself 😀

I would have been really disturbed if they had got together, even in the later seasons. I see Giles as a paternal figure for all the Scoobies, although not in a full father figure role like he is to Buffy, but still...bleugh!

Don't you think I Robot, You Jane, is still quite early on for her to have a picture of them in her locker though!?
 
I certainly could have seen it happen... actually, around early S2, I was wondering if Wiles (or Gillow, as I more often call the ship) was going to happen. Of course it may only be an issue of the German dub (so what else is new? :sigh: ) but during the scene where Giles rescues Will from the maelstrom on the stairs in IOHEFY, the tone of his voice when he calls for her sounds - to me at least - "worried beyond friendship". Add this with Willow quite strongly seeming to be bent for a Watcher career back then, and it kinda does make sense.

The age difference is a big thing though... while it wouldn't have anything even approaching the creepiness of Biles (I don't see the father-daughter-ness between Giles and Will that is so obvious between him and Buffy), it would have had to be very carefully handled not to become disturbing - but if anyone could have made it work, I think it would have been Joss' writing and ASH's acting, especially if "it" happened post-Highschool. Had it not been for Tara, I could certainly have seen Giles as the follow-up for Oz (and yep, I would have preferred him with Willow over Oz, too... feel free to flame me, all you Woz-lovers! :flame: )

I agree... I think that ASH could have played it with the delicateness it needed, if Joss had ever decided to go that direction. It definitely would have been weird for me to see at first, but I totally agree that I could have handles Gillow/Wiles more than Biles (as somone once said, it's called Biles for a reason LOL).
The more I think about it, I can actually totally envision it and I'm not grossed out at all... Hmm. 🙂

Haha, its Biles or Guffy - Neither sounds too good!
I can envision it in season 7/8 and am not grossed out at all. Interesting. Wiles could actually work. If Willow wasn't, you know, a lesbian
 
Didn't care much for this one, plus the demon looked ridiculous.

The actor who played "Dave" went on to guest star on Supernatural. He played the recurring character of "Ash" for a couple of episodes in the 2nd season.
 
I remember noticing that a few years ago... I didn't make the connection to the crush quote though. That does make sense!

Well... if you think about it, Willow was already talking about how "cool" Giles was in "Welcome to the Hellmouth" so it's possible that she may have already had a crush on him that grew when she found out about all the supernatural stuff.

I agree. I would have been very disturbed as well if they'd gotten together.

In response to it being too early for a picture in their locker of the two - It's not too far-fetched to say that Willow probobly knew Giles before Buffy came to Sunnydale. After all, she's the kind of girl to hang around in the library. Yeah, it's kinda strange, but Willow definitely had a desire for a father figure, and Giles fits the bill. I see her as the type to like to take pictures with, you know, random people. Or, maybe the picture is from some sort of family/school function, like Parent Teacher night or something, or maybe Willow was receiving class award and Giles persented it to her? Seems likely. Those are types of events picture are usually in order 🙂

AS usual, I'm looking way too much into this. I'll leave now...

I only noticed that when I watched Buffy Season 1 for the second time. I was like "Hey, That's a photo of Willow and Giles, Cool!". I noticed so many things about Buffy in general that I had overlooked when watching it the first time.
