Will Dawn go to heaven when she dies?

Since the Buffyverse seems to correlate the soul with a conscience, a sence of guilt, and the capacity for selfless love, then I would say that Dawn does have a soul or a reasonable facsimile. However, given that Joss is an avowed and very outspoken atheist, I seriously doubt that he would see Heaven as being anywhere in Dawn's future. Maybe one of those "heaven dimensions" that Tara mentioned Buffy being in when she was dead, but I'm not sure that that is quite the same thing.

Nice question, and sure to provoke many a curious answer. And so, not to disappoint, here are my curious answers.

Is there a heaven for Dawn to go to? (I wonder if there will be a responce to that one?)

What was Dawn? A ball of energy, energy that the monks made into a human form for Buffy to look after. Why did they send her to Buffy? Is it because Buffy is a Vampire Slayer or was the decision even more deeply thought of?
Could it be that the Vampire Slayers were formed by God himself, to fight the demons?
Made by men, maybe? But who or what gave them the thought to make the girl a Vampire Slayer?

What was the energy? Something that could be used for good or evil, if so it sounds just like a soul without form, or energy not placed in human form.

Now, the Monks of Dagon sent Dawn to Buffy, no mention of them giving her a soul. Why not? Was it because the energy was pure soul.
The nut jobs said they could see through her, to what she really was. Which one of them said what she was?
One said she was a ball of green energy, so? Who is going to state that the soul is not a ball of green energy?

What of Joseph's beliefs, is it the one god theory, the puritanical way that religions tell people to behave? Maybe Joseph does believe in the essence of it just not in the way that humans have represented it.

Well going by what Buffy experienced, we're assuming that there is a place where people go when they die. That's the assumption for the purposes of this thread. If you want to discuss whether heaven exists or what Buffy thought was real, etc, you should start a new thread 🙂

This question by necessity raises the question of whether or not Dawn even has a soul to go to whatever reward or punishment that her actions on earth have earned. We know that Dawn was originally the Key, described as a ball of green energy, that was formed into the image of a human being, basically the mystical equivalent of a clone of Buffy Summers. Quite obviously those monks were able to form a living human body, but were they able to endow their creation with an actual immortal soul? Until that is determined, the ultimate destination of that soul is really moot.

Assuming that Dawn does somehow, in fact, possess a soul, then I would say that her chances of going to heaven are about as good as anyone else's in the Buffyverse.
