My parents have the original dvd versions that came out ages ago. Read somewhere that the newer ones lack some of the extras.
Will Fox release Buffy on Blu-ray for its 20th anniversary?

I usually buy everything on Blu-ray, but after waiting ages for them and watching Buffy on Netflix, I ended up buying the latest packaging versions of Buffy & Angel, so while part of me hopes that one day they'll come out on Blu-ray, the other hopes not, just for the fact I spent £60 on the lot not too long ago!

What I really, really want for the 20th anniversary is a directors cut including cut scenes. Do you think there is any chance we'll ever see that? I think a lot of fans would buy it.......

I would love to see a directors cut ...with all the overruns in place but it seems an unlikely dream 🙁 .
Recently I ve become preoccupied with the region 1 boxsets . I ve only ever seen 4-7 in widescreen before. I would love the Chosen collection but mostly for the extras .
Personally I think it's a little unfair to dismiss the widescreen versions as many have over the years....including Joss . Buffy was shot (mostly ) wide but framed 4:3 . So they re not messing about with the image ..just diluting the cinematography . However in seasons 6-7 some shots are amazing in 16:9 so you end up with a mixed experience . There is definitely a strong argument for offering seasons 4-7 in both aspect ratios in my opinion .
I have always thought season 4 looks 'wrong' in 16:9 ...but that feeling doesn't last the whole run . The whole debate has been quite controversial over the years .
I ve not seen the Pivot HD but apparently it's not very good . I would still probably buy it on Blu Ray . 😀

Speaking of Buffy's Pivot HD, I watched an interesting video on YouTube about it recently.... some of the conversion is laughably bad. I'd rather watch it in 4:3 than watch some duff 16:9 conversion.
