ahahahah
I definitely won't be watching the olympics. I can't think of anything more boring than watching other people participate in sports.

I usually go to London a lot a this time of year but i've had to cut it down given the travel costs are through the roof, and i'm only coming from Scotland!

I've always watched the Gymnastics (the Russians are my fave, I was gutted when Alexia Nemov retired) and the Swimming. As well as that i'll watch the Boxing, Tae Kwon Do, Wrestling and of course the one I will be following most, Tennis.

Sadly my main draw to the Olympics was Rafael Nadal, who was also the flag bearer for Spain. Due to injury he had to pull out, and he won gold last time 🙁

Glad to see that on day one of the women's soccer we wonderful Brits managed to cause a diplomatic incident. *facepalm*

I'm loving this opening ceremony. Its very British. I dont know if it will be viewed the same by other countries for example I thought the Mr Bean sketch was hillarious, but I think we've done quite well.

I fell quite ignorant, I havent heard of half of these countries. I hope Paul McCartney finishes this off with Hey Jude.

hahahahaha!! don't worry, i haven't heard of half of them either! :)
It's a great opening ceremony, and it's always good to get to know new countries. It makes me feel less ignorant although I still am : I didn't know french was the Olympics official language, along with English.

The opening ceremony has been epic! I was a bit bemused to start with but I've really enjoyed watching. Anything that combines the Queen "jumping out" of a helicopter with Voldemort getting defeated by an army of Marry Poppins is a winner in my book!

I've got the Opening Ceremonies PVR'ed to watch later, and I'm pretty excited. I love the Olympics so much and this is the first Summer Games for Canada under their new "Own the Podium" program, which has invested truck loads of cash into previously criminally underfunded sports. Now we have a fighting chance at really competing.

And, while I know that most Brits probably aren't too stoked about it, the whole North Korean flag flap was pretty hilarious. I was waiting for someone to just say: "it was an accident, stop whining and play or you're out".

The first part was quite good.
Second part with all the athletics and speeches is hard to do without it getting boring.

Highlight was without a doubt Rowan Atkinson. That man is a genius.
Having Bond picking up the queen was also very different and great fun.

I'm going to be watching the US Women's Soccer Team take down Columbia today, and will probably watch the Brazil vs. NZ game. I'll be rooting for NZ, but Brazil is - well, Brazil is Brazil. You do the math. 😀

Oooh! I forgot about the soccer!!!
Woot! I didn't watch the Opening Ceremony live (it would be 4am in my country, for one thing...), but I caught it on Youtube earlier today.

Molten fire Olympic rings! J.K. Rowling reading Peter Pan! Giant inflatable Lord Voldemort attacked by many Mary Poppins! James Bond and the Queen parachuting! The corgies! The epic cauldron!

And holy crap, you guys made the Internet?

I'm definitely not a sportsperson. I'm a total couch potato. Still, I get caught up in the Olympic spirit. I like watching the opening ceremonies, gymnastics, and table tennis.

Didn't get to watch the opening ceremonies due to my work 🙁 But my mom gave me a resume and I'll have to find a link to watch it.

Caught the end of the feminine basketball match between Canada and Russia this morning. 58-53. We almost won, but got our butt kicked at the end.

Right now we're watching the men cycling competition. Crazy. They're in the last kilometer and I never thought cycling could be that cool to watch 😀

Watched the opening ceremony last night until the lighting of the cauldron (nearly 1am here)- the bit with the Queen and James Bond was a real did-I-just-see-that moment! Other parts of it were equally impressive- the whole village set-up probably resonated more here than it would elsewhere, but some of the main messages of the show were really good ones to send out to the world. At one point they projected a clip of the first lesbian kiss seen on British TV, which was in a soap about 20 years ago- and that went out to places like Saudi Arabia.

I'll be keeping up with bits and pieces but I can't really watch sport incessantly. There's a British cyclist called Lizzie Armitstead, though, who comes from my town and I used to know here grandparents.

Victoria Pendleton comes from the same village as me . She's a bit of a local hero :)
I've been watching some of the events, but mostly just going from one to the other. Been watching the football since i'm going mental without the Premiership lol.

Hasn't been a very good start for our lot though (GB).

So far today the Canadians are doing really good 🙂

The women cyclists were great and ended within the first 20 positions.

And just about 5min ago Emily Heymans and Jennifer Abel won the bronze medal in the 3m synchronized diving competition! 😀 And Emily is the first olympian to won medals in 4 consecutive olympics 🙂

There's just one thing I hate about all this, though. since I was working Friday afternoon/night, I couldn't watch the opening ceremony live and now every video I find is unavailable in Canada, I need to pay for it (stupid survey stuff on suspicious websites) or is just some crappy photo mix... Really not happy right now because according to my mom it was an incredible show.
