Ok, here's the deal, I do not believe that Willow is a lesbian, not completely anyway. I can't believe that Willow did not really love Xander and Oz at one point, and I hate that the writers are showing her as 100% gay. So, you decide.

She's 100% gay, but that doesn't mean she never loved Oz and Xander, she doesn't anymore.

I mean I loved my ex, but I don't anymore, and we will never get together again!

I have so much Hope for Willow loving a guy so i mean i am saying Bi because basically i think she still loves OZ deep down and all, i mean if you really love someone you always love and care about them, My Ex bf cheated on me 3 times twice with my best friend and once with some guy friend of his and i still love and care dearly about him and that will never change......... and i still have hope for Willow yet Either way she is great! and it shouldn't matter who you date as long as you care about the person!

I don't know... Let me see if I understand the terms correctly. Gay means you enjoy sex with the same sex, and only with the same sex, right? Bi means you can enjoy homo or hetero sexual experiences.

I don't remember Willow ever voicing any complaints as regarded physical love with OZ, so I'm going to have to say BI.

haha! That's good thinking. (You seriously made me smile there.) I don't mind her gay, but if there's a chance of her being bisexual, then let me be the one to say hallelujah. To me, Willow's always been bisexual, even if Joss says otherwise.

She's gay. She's said she's gay, and she said she doesn't like men. Remember the episode Him? If you say she's bi, you're implying you know her better than herself, and that's sort of silly. As for being with men, keep in mind that both Elton John and Oscar Wilde were married. Yes, she can like men again, at which point she'll no longer be gay. But any one who's straight can become attracted to the same sex ten years from now. Shall I call straight people bi because the possibility exists? Call Willow what she is, what she says she is now.

She's gay.

Yeah well the problem with "Him" is it was written by Drew Z Greenburg. Greenburg doesn't have a lot of respect for the continuity of the series. If we are going to take him seriously we have to believe things like vampires are afraid of nerds, but they're not afraid of vampire slayers, or even minor witches can alter reality at will.

If we look at what the other writers say there is the "Hello, Gay now" quote from Triangle. That's Jane espenson. All that says is Willow is gay now.

We can't believe what the writers say off the show. They told us Season 7 would not be dark.

Other than Joss Whedon, I think the writer with the most insight into where Willow is at, or likely to ever go would be Marti Noxon. She's been around longest and seems to have the most power under Whedon. Here's what she says in New Moon Rising;

"WILLOW: I was waiting. I feel like some part of me will always be waiting
for you. Like if I'm old and blue-haired, and I turn the corner in Istanbul
and there you are, I won't be surprised. Because... you're with me, you know?

OZ: I know. (Pause) But now is not that time, I guess.

WILLOW🙁shakes her head) No.

If fans start editing out all of the episodes where Willow says she's gay because they feel they can dismiss certain writers on the basis of quality, then the entire series becomes meaningless. Willow's identity as gay has been stated numerous times, through the last 3 seasons. To shrug off all of those episodes, as if her relationship with Oz should somehow predict her entire sexual future, seems very strange to me. Female sexuality is much more fluid than male sexuality (I think for cultural reasons), so maybe things will change. But for now, she's gay. If her own words on the subject don't matter, than certainly an isolated conversation with Oz in a van would be even less relevant.

Anyway, that's just how I feel--I obviously have strong feelings on the subject.

well if you, turned, in the first place why would you, turn, back people turn their sexuality for one reason or another. Willow clearly states her self gay manny times as people have already stated. not onec has she stated she's bi...

I used to care about this arguement, but I really don't anymore. Nevertheless...

If fans start editing out all of the episodes where Willow says she's gay because they feel they can dismiss certain writers on the basis of quality, then the entire series becomes meaningless.

So Willow says she gay, but let's look at her actions:

1. Feelings for Oz AND Tare during New Moon Rising.
2. Attracted to Giles while he was singing in the coffee shop.
3. Attracted to Daracula.
4. Actracted to that guy in Him (Spike and Xander weren't attracted. Did it affect ALL females or just people naturally disposed to be attracted to males?)

So, if we are wrong to edit out what Willow says, then aren't we also wrong to edit out what she does?

The whole sexuality is fluid thing is something new to me. Before this board, I thought the arguement was that if you're gay, you could never be sastified with a person of the opposite sex. Like, if a gay person was married, they were never truely happy and sastisfied in the marraige because they were denying who they were.

Likewise (and this was brought up in the original post) people have a problem with Willow being gay because they assume (incorrectly or not) that that means her previous relationships were based on a lie; that she was never happy with Oz, and her feelings for Xander were unreal.

I don't think that she should be termed as either - people fall in love with who they fall in love with, they may be of the same sex, they may be of the opposite sex. I think that can be said for anybody truth be told.

Ok, so after Oz, Willow fell in love with a woman, but it could have just as easily been a man. It's all down to circumstances and timing if you ask me. Tara just happened to be in the right place, at the right time and it went from there. ::evil::

I think to say she's either 'gay' or 'bi' is too permanent, people and their feelings/attractions change over time, so who knows what could potentially happen in the future. 😉 Plus I really don't like to 'label' people. 😀

I guess you are bisexual???

Nope, not at all 'lol' Married for 8 yrs, been together for 11yrs and have 4 kiddies, and one on the way.

I've never actually been attracted to a woman before, but I've always thought that no-one can say for definite that they would *never* be attracted to someone of the same sex.

Same goes for people who are normally attracted to the same sex - for example a family firend of ours was 'gay' all his life, then at the age of 65 he falls in love with a woman, moves in with her etc No-one would everhave thought that possible but they are blissfully happy! Just goes to show, you never know!

I know Anya, I've seen the same kind of thing. I didn't want to be the first to mention it, because I've always gotten the impression it's politically incorrect to notice stuff like that.

To me the issue of whether Willow is gay or bi is a non-issue. That's not what I really care about.

My thing is I don't like Kennedy. I want to believe that if Oz walked through the Summer's door, Willow would drop Kennedy like the tricked out one season stand she is, and go looking for her smoochies.

I'm all for that!! Course, I was all for that back in New Moon Rising, so...

The issue of her sexuality is important in the sense that it's a basic part of her identity, though I think most people would like Willow either way. Oz/Willow shippers don't want to have their memories stepped on, so her sexuality gets reinvented despite overwhelming evidence. Probably the best verbal evidence that can be given for her sexual orientation (outside of her numerous, definitive statements declaring her sexuality) is when she referred to heterosexuality as "boy's town" in a very dismissive way in Tough Love. And the examples that are given for why she likes men involve supernatural forces--not terribly convincing in my opinion. As for Oz, ask a few gay men if they've had at least one transitory heterosexual relationship, and most will say yes. People are saying that despite her own words, they know her better. That's a rather shakey foundation to stand on.

I think no matter what the argument is, we can all agree that she prefers women. Because sexuality is so fluid, I really don't understand why we can't allow her to term her own orientation, especially given the "evidence" of her heterosexuality. People have a hard time understanding that sexual lives can change over a lifetime. The best way to understand it is to listen to what someone says at that moment of her life. People can lie, certainly, if they have reason to, especially if they're lying about being straight to protect themselves from bigotry. But why would Willow lie about being gay? What possible reason could she have in alligning herself with an orientation that is both legally and socially discriminated against? The very idea seems ridiculous to me.
