Worst death ever?

My, you're pretty harsh Lady.

They needed to make Fred's death be a long process, remember her organs were slowly being liquified to make room for Illyria. That is what made Fred's death so dramatic, because she was being destroyed, and it wasn't fast. It was painful and slow.

Plus, an amazing acting job by Amy. It was a different side, especially the end.

And call me sucker, but I love the Wed/Fred romance, especially at the end of Fred's life, because it was romantic (except for that sad part with Fred dying and all)
 
It may not be the worst death ever but it is pretty horrid because
Jenny Callender-Will see Giles in Heaven
Tara-Will see Willow in heaven

ect, ect, many of these deaths weren't as bad because as much as there friends would miss them they will see them again but in Fred's case her soul was gone. It was destroyed and rotted therefore while Wesley goes to heaven in will most likly seem like hell because even there he will never see his true love again. Plus Fred's death was quite slow as compared to that of Jenny and Tara.

I mean I've cried over near every death from Cordy's to jenny's and Tara's. As well as Wesley's, Lindsey's, and almost every other but Fred's was one of the most heartbreaking with the fact her soul was being destroyed and the tearjerking final moments with Wesley

What if there is no such thing as heaven or hell?

That "tearjerking" scene with Wesley was such a bore that I found myself wishing that Fred had died a lot faster. Just as well, since her romance with Wesley was such a bore.
 
i think the worst deaths were Fred's because she had to suffer and Jenny's death was pretty bad, but i felt worse for Giles then for Jenny

We know there is Heaven and Hell as characters have been there before!!

And everyone is intitled to there on opinions about characters and relationships, personally I find a Hole in the world one of the saddest episodes in Angel

Absolutely, Fred's death was a heartbreaking and sorrowful event. Her death rates pretty high on the 'worst death ever' scale. I agree with others who have stated the her death was horrible because she has no chance at an 'afterlife' or to live again in Heaven. As said, Fred's soul was destroyed while resurrecting Illyria. She became exactly as she was a called... a shell. Without the sould, there was not a chance for Fred to be resurrected or be praised as an angel in Heaven.

That is what makes it terrible.

and~ I am also a fred/wes shipper. Their relationship was naive and just beginning. It would've lasted a long time if given the chance.

The scene was very touching where Wesley took care of Fred at her home, hours/minutes before she turned into Illyria. I thought I took great talent to play those roles by the actors. I am always amazed each and every time I watch it.
 
I was really sad when Fred died cause she is my favorite angel character. I just think she's really sweet. hehe. I thought she was cool playing Illyria too though. I think the sickest thing was when her and Wesley were finally happy being together and she was singing to wes on the stairs and then she just passed out, it was pretty scary.. It seems that whenever a Buffy/angel character are about to receive happiness they either die or it goes wrong..
 
Fred's death was lame. It was way too cheesy. Whedon wrote A whore in the World, didn't he?

I think this is one of the worst ever episodes of Angel.

Half the time I was cringing at the horrid dialogue, the other half I was trying to stay awake.

Snyder being eaten moved me more..

Chronic Diahorreah at a football match?

Personally, i think to die alone is the best way. Saves you having to look at people you probably don't like but have to put up with.

I'd prefer not to die alone but of course I'm quite aware of the fact that I do not have a choice in this. Neverthless, I do not want.
 
I don't think Fred is truly gone..........like Illyria, Fred maybe has an essence...........if her soul was destroyed, wouldn't there be an essence? Why not?

I want to believe :) I really liked her.
i think it was one of the worst deaths, and what made it so hard to watch was the flash backs to fred with her family before moving to L.a, i think one of the reasons wesley found it so hard was because he had wanted to be with fred for so long, and now that they were finally together she gets murdered by a demon, something wesley was brought up to fight and hate, who walks around in the body of the woman he loved.
 
I think the worst death was buffy at the end of season five, or spike at the end of season seven, they were the only ones i actually creid for.
 
Freds death was dramatic to say the least, not only did it have Alexis Denisof and Amy Acker working in what I call the 'zone' but it had all the characters working to save her.
Her death sent a ripple effect throughout the gang, (Gunn had an epiphany, Wes went all angsty etc.) which I felt made Illyria's character much more easier to accept. If they had just killed her outright people would have rejected Illyria, but it was slow and painfull and beautifully done, every member of the cast brought their A-Game and it payed off by giving one of the most gripping and emotional death scenes EVER.

(chokes on her coughs, crying)
I need you to talk to my parents. They have to know I wasn't scared, that it was quick. That I wasn't scared.
(starts convulsing)

(grabs her, looks into her eyes)
You have to fight. You don't have to talk, just concentrate on fighting. Just hold on.

FRED
(holding onto Wes's shoulders, looks into his eyes, quivering)
I'm not scared. I'm not scared. I'm not scared.
(her grip softens, she can't hold herself up)
Please, Wesley, why can't I stay?
(she goes still as Wes holds her in his arms)




How can anyone say this is cheesy or boring? This is one of the best death scenes I've ever seen.

It's TV, so the acting and cinematography and editing and art design and wardrobe and makeup and a million other things all come into play. But the dialogue is very powerful. A woman is dying. There's nothing she can do to stop it. And she's trying her damndest to face it bravely and with dignity. In the end, it's the repetition of the line "I'm not scared" that gets me. The lines in which she asks Wesley to lie to her parents and say it was an easy death are striking for their selflessness. The last line, "Why can't I stay?" is powerful, too, because don't we all wonder why we have to die? But the repetition of "I'm not scared" is the line that made me weep.

That line, for me, captured the tragedy of death: the fact that it robs us of our bravery and our dignity when we need it most. She was scared, but she was desperately trying to assert that she wasn't. Earlier in the episode, she said, "I am not going to be cut down by some monster flu. I am better than that!" We all go out scared and alone. It's never right. It's never fair. It's never just the way you'd like it to be. Half the time, the method isn't even worthy of who you are as a person. It's dehumanizing. I really admired the writing in this scene for its simplicity. Whedon didn't go in for elaborate deathbed speeches. Instead, he just had a woman go out while trying to be brave.

"Worst" as in hardest? That gets tied with Joyce for me. "Worst" as in poorly written or acted or filmed? No way!
 
I agree that Fred's death was hurrendous but I think Angel's death was the worst. His worst nightmare was the demon coming back and regaining control and just when he reclaims his body his soulmate has to send him to hell, where on top of all the horrors he has to face there he has all the stuff Angelus did in Sunnydale. Like evryone said, wesley was wrecked by Fred's death, he couldn't move on, well either could Buffy. She was an absolute mess untill Angel was returned from hell and may have stayed that way if he stayed dead.
