Would Angel have done the same for Buffy?

(Despite scenario specifics) I think that Angel wouldn't do the same for Buffy as he did for Connor. I think he would do the same as Buffy did for him. I think he would be with her and help her regain reality. I think this is more likely than erasing memories because Buffy wouldn't be a lost cause, it wouldn't be Angel's place or decision to make for Buffy, and he knows how important she is to the world. Angel would try to give the world back its slayer.

And as for whether he would do it for anyone else, I don't think so. As someone else mentioned, in the case of Connor, he grew up in hell, anyone else would have merely visited hell. I think the better question would be, which characters would have been strong enough to live through and come back from hell. 😛

Angel would've done it for Darla. That is, soulled human Darla from S2- to give her that second chance of a happy normal life. That's pretty much what 'The Trial' was all about, Angel sacrificing himself for her. And think Angel would do that for Cordelia as well, from S3 onwards- trying to save his best friend/confidante. I'd be interested to see if he would do it for Faith, now that they've become so close in the comics. Angel very much likes to rescue the 'damsel in distress', he's old fashioned that way. 🙂

I think that if Angel had known that in Darla's human life she had been dying from syphilis, he wouldn't have.

We learn from our memories and experiences, even the bad ones, and that knowledge is what makes us the people we are. Taking those things away is stealing or even destroying, a vital part of what makes us, and is totally the opposite of an act of kindness. Kindness is loving and supporting people through those troubled times, helping them put those memories in a proper prospective, and making them know that they have you to depend on, whatever is needed.

This reminds me of when Buffy told Dawn in "Grave" that she didn't want to protect Dawn from the world, but wanted to show it to her.
