I'd love to see them both back, simply..because. It's my favourite show of all time, so yeah simply for the love of the show. But I'm not sure how it would work practically, it'd be weird at first to see Buffy now. SMG is 35ish now isn't she? It would be odd to see them all older still fighting demons.

Plus, James Marsters and David Boreanez have both definitely aged so Spike and Angel would definitely look aged, despite both being immortal non-aging vampires.

I think a movie would be more appropriate than a continuation of BtVS.

I'd love that. Any Buffy reboot including Joss and the original cast would have my approval, because I know he'd make it work. It wouldn't be forced and he would have an explanation for everything important (if not from the start, gradually being revealed)

But now, too much would need to be changed to compensate for why the immortal characters have aged so much. David, James and Amy have all changed and grown so much in ten years that something would need to be done to explain why Angel, Spike and Illyria have aged when they shouldn't.

As much as I don't care for what's happening in the comics right now, I'm happy that they're there. It's an easier way to keep the stories going without having to come up with confusing storylines as to why Spike suddenly looks like his 50 years old, lol.

Hm, no I don't think so. I don't think I could relate to the characters in the same way anymore and I'm iffy about how it would work... since I don't really like the comics the verse has been over for so long for me that I'm not sure that I want 'new' stories from it. In a way I do but in a way I don't... makes little sense I know but Buffy and Angel will always have a special place in my heart and I can't help but feel that if it was going to be put on TV now and made 'sell-able' so to speak that, to me, it would ruin the show a little... like they would try to gloss it up or make it hip somehow... I just can't picture a more 'modern' take on it I guess.

I'm also not sure if I'd like that. A movie would probably work better. I'm actually quite content with the comics right now, they fill that little hole that I have without Buffy but for people that don't like them, they can just forget about it. They've ruined great shows by doing a re-boot so I'd be scared that my favorite show would be ruin if they did so. Although, with Joss Whedon and all the cast, it couldn't be that awful, I'm just scared it would have lost it's magic.

If anything, I would want them to produce AtF and S8-9, because I already know the stories. They would f course need to be adapted to work on TV, but if Joss could pull it off, I'd watch it.

I also don't really mind Spike and Angel aging, I could suspend my disbelief on that one for sure.

Yeah, I'm pretty much fine with the way that the comics are going at the moment for continuing the series. I'm not entirely sure what they would do with it if they set it 10 years in the future in the show, since the timeline gets screwy in the comics because that's just the way that comics go.

It costs nothing in the comics to have people in Europe and Japan, but it would be worth a fortune to have filming on location, so whatever was done would have to diverge from the comics. It is far easier to have the comic drawing moved than go through all the logistical nightmare of shooting a TV series in a foreign country. It would mean work visas for a significant number of the 237 people who were on staff, if they can still get everyone.

It would also be like the Star Trek movies where the young crew of the original series aged significantly. Also, some of the cast have moved on - I am sure David Boreanaz would not be willing to leave his lucrative position on Bones to reprise his old role. Alison Hannigan would have to make room in her schedule with How I Met Your Mother, so that would not be happening.

Against all this, could they get the advertising dollars to cover it? Not a chance. The networks are not going to go for a high-cost program when locally filmed programs would be cheaper.

There was already a movie of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and it was not a critical success, nor was it what Joss wanted, but a new Buffy movie would probably not be able to generate much critical mass in the way of viewership. Most rehashes of movies are not that successful, either critically or financially - they get made because Hollywood is terrified of risk. As Sarah said, the story lends itself to a story arc taking place over a season, not to a two-hour extravaganza.

Yea...but the original cast probably couldn't star in it cause like everybody said David and James aged (James more then David I think David still looks pretty good, he might be able to get away with it lol) and they have othe obligations. But they could do it with some new slayers that have been activated since then and new people, and the old cast can make cameo appearances sometimes. It might be okay...and if it's not it still wouldn't ruin the show for me. Oh yea and Joss has to do it.

It wpold work better to have a completely new show with one or two of the original cast as a tie in to the original, say, as an example, Xander in the capacity of Watcher/Mentor to a whole new group of young people> He could occasionally mention one of the others,or tell how they used to do things back in Sunnydale, or they could even use limited clips from the original shows in flashbacks. But the original cast just plain looks too "mature" now to do what they used to do.

Well for starters I don't think David Boreanaz and James Marsters aging would be that big of a problem. I really don't. Like [MENTION=8404]Blaze[/MENTION] said, I'd be more than able to suspend my disbelief on that one. And let's not forget either, if something like this were to magically come together, both of them would hit the gym like crazy to look as close to the part as possible.

However, that being said, I'm not entirely sure a new series with the same general cast would work. Almost all the principals are engaged elsewhere. A movie? Maybe (and that's a very slim maybe), but it would be tough. I don't think it works without just about everyone. I mean, you'd need Buffy, Dawn, Angel, Spike, Willow, Xander, Giles and probably Faith minimum. That's a big task to get everyone, you know?

It was supposed to be more of a ghost-centered show, so I could definitely see Willow on there as a recurring character, what with her magic and all. Fray would be a good idea, I would like a Fray mini-serie! That would work pretty well. And with s8, they could even include some of the Buffy cast in there.

I would say the difference is all of those characters were meant to age, where James Marsters and David Boreanaz would be meant to look in their 20s still... Marsters says often that he would hate for Joss to come up with an excuse for Spike aging.

90210 and Dallas (don't know about Melrose Place, never seen it) got new series, but had mostly new casts, retaining a few of the older actors to link back to the original shows.

THAT would be something I would be interested in, and something I've always spoken loudly about. I like the idea of seeing some of those new Slayers, with maybe Dawn or Willow or Xander (maybe all three) or even some of the AtS originals, acting as a link back to the shows first incarnation. It would be a fresh look at the idea behind the show - a Chosen One who isn't the only one anymore - but at the same time, still keeping that intensity that made BtVS so great.

As someone mentioned, I would love a futuristic take on Fray, but that would be way too expensive to produce. It would be the only way I'd be okay with appearances of Willow, Buffy etc.

I also like the idea of a show with any new slayer but I'd dislike if let's say only Xander came back, because then it means he's away from the gang, and that would break my heart a bit. I've always pictured the Scoobies as family (even if they did drift apart in later seasons), it would be weird if only one of them was back. I guess I may be okay if multiple (but not all) characters came back and there was mentions of the old cast. A bit like when they first got the spin off of Angel. The only reason it worked for me was because it was a side character's story with faces we knew. To me, Buffy, Willow and Xander should stick together. Maybe they could re-boot with a side character as a new lead, like they did with Angel in AtS.

I could definitely see a story based on Giles. I would even really like Andrew in a new serie where he could grow a la Wesley. A story about a new slayer and Andrew as the watcher would actually be pretty cool. From the Angel cast, considering the whole cast of characters pretty much died, it'd be a bit more complicated to get those characters in a re-boot.

They're not all dead. Connor, Gunn, Illyria, Gwen, Kate, Harmony and Nina are all still very much alive as far as I'm aware. Although, in saying that, I'd pretty much only be interested if it was Connor, Gunn, Illyria or Gwen, lol.

They could have a spin off set in the past or future with different characters. A slayer at high school in the fifties might be good.
