Would You recommend it?

lol, i bought the DVD's without ever seeing a single episode...it was by Joss, there was no way it wasn't going to be good! lol
i love the show, i think it's amazing. i was so bummed when i got to the end of the DVD's and realized that there was no more. it got cancelled WAY too soon, IMO
 
Definitely did get cancelled too soon. I don't think it ever aired on Swedish TV (except on the movie channels that I never had), so I didn't watch it until like two years ago... But I really dunno how it could get cancelled, since it is a great show..
 
I didn't watch it when it aired because the concept of a ScFi Western sounded so unbelievably stupid to me. Plus, y'know, Buffy and Angel were still on the air and I didn't really care about anything else but them at that time. I kinda wanted to see the movie, but my thinking on that one was "JOSS MOVIE OMFG".

My boyfriend hooked me in a second. He showed me the movie then I went out and bought the DVDs. Addicted, I do believe, is the word.
 
It is interesting that – even in Sweden where they only showed Serenity at the cinema in like 4 places – a lot of people have heard of/seen the movie but not she TV show. Even weirder to me is that people enjoy the movie so much without having seen Firefly, I don't think I would have understood that much, heh..
 
I just got the DVDs this weekend, and am currently watching them...
And it's awesome...
I never watched it on FOX, mainly because I didnt know when it came on, and was sad when it got cancelled [cause it was a whedon show] but ive never seen it before, and when i saw it at target for only $20, I was like "what the hell?" and I got it. And it's SO good..
 
Ive got the dvds, and ive watched the first two episode, and so far i like it, but not addicted to keep watching. But I'd keep going, coz i guess it gets better.
 
I am a Buffy fan. 🙂 I like Angel too and have only saw a couple of Angel's eps. I was gonna start buying, but since a box set is coming out, well I will have to get that. So Firefly? Is it worth it? Do most B/A fans like it? How many eps did it have?? Thanks for the heads up!

I ony watched if on DVD after it had been cancelled and I am so sorry I didn't watch it when it first aired. I think there are alot of B/A fans that like it, but then I am sure there are also a fair number that have either never seen it, or watched it and it didn't grab them. Oh, and sad to say, that there were only 14 episodes of it. 🙁

also, there's the movie joss wrote/directed: "serenity." it's like a second season for the show. it's really awesome! but yeah, firefly totally worth checking out, even though it is so short...
 
It's nothing like Buffy or Angel, but it's all Whedon.

Personally I'm really fond of it, fell in love at first sight. But just be warned that it's not Angel nor is it Buffy.
 
JollyApe is right. It isn't at all like Buffy or Angel.

I'm a big Buffy/Angel and Firefly fan. Firefly is a very original series and deserved way more than 14 episodes. It's a great series and I became a huge fan very fast. And if you like the series than you should also watch the movie "Serenity." One of my favorite movies, and it's made by Joss!
 
I guess it's different if you started watching Firefly 'cause you were a huge Buffy fan, or if you just started watching 'cause you're generally into sci-fi. 'Cause I do a lot of people who were never that into Buffy (or at all into Buffy), who worship Firefly...
 
You're right. But I think Buffy/Angel fans have a better chance of liking it since Joss made it. (We got to support Mr. Whedon! :silly🙂 But my brother have turned his friends into Firefly flans and they aren't into Buffy/Angel.
 
I watched Firefly long before I started watching Buffy (about 5 years). Back then I didn't know I was a Whedon fan, I just LOVED the show. I get emotional just thinking about it.

In the end, though it took me a while, Firefly is the reason I watched Buffy and Angel, not the other way around. 🙂
 
I spent the past 2 days watching the series for the first time and I absolutely loved it. I think I had put off watching for a while it because it gave me something that Joss had done that I hadn't seen yet and could look forward to watching if that makes any sense. Of course now that I've watched the series I can't wait to watch Serenity for the first time.

I would also like to say that I don't think it's as different from Buffy and Angel as people have made it out to be. One of the key elements on both of those shows is the family the characters create for themselves and I got the same feeling when watching the characters on Firefly interact with one another.
 
Well i did end up watching the entire thing, and i loved it, and ive re watched it quite a few times now. And I watched the movie too which i loved! Thats for convincing me guys! 😀

The only bad thing is, i lent some of the discs to someone else who now lives in another country, so i have to try get them back!
 
Yes, Firefly is definitely worth buying. I highly recommend it. As for humor, yes, Firefly has funny, clever parts, like Buffy. I got into Buffy because it was made by Joss Whedon, who also made Firefly, so I don't see why it can't work the other way around.
