I haven't been following the X men comic books lately. Actually I only ever had some old collectors. I think they were like 80s, or 90s, or something. I gave them away for Christmas.

So you mean they wrote Gambit out of the series for 20 years, or something? because I liked the old Gambit. He was kind of slick. Does he still use his exploding cards trick?

Hey in the new X men comics, do they still fight the Sentinels? They were my favourite bad guys. They'd make great movie villians.

thanks for helping me dude :) finding my way to spread good karma
Sorry to mislead you, n4h...I've got X-men comics dating back to the early '70s...I stopped collecting them in the mid-nineties...Gambit was not "new" at the time, having shown up about 2 years before, but in the grand scheme of X-Men, he was just a blip...

Yeah, I just Wikiped it. They say he first appeared in 1990. That's funny. I could have sworn he was in a couple I had that I thought were from the 80s.

There were other characters who looked like him at times...and Bullseye threw lots of killer cards in his time in Daredevil...there were so many, I always got confused...Remy was kind of a Wolverine-lite to me, but I did love his New Orleans backstory!

I never bought many X-Men comics as a little kid. In an old stash I bought at a garage sale, I can recall one issue that had...Marvel Girl, Beast, Iceman and Angel as the lineup. That was, a while ago...maybe Cyclops was in there too...

Did anyone catch the X-3 trailer during the 24 extravaganza last night?! It was looking really, really good. I was shocked how good this looks. I'm feeling more confident about Ratner now.

yep and if u click on my attached addy thingy youd see the trailour any time you want on yahoo movies 🙂 hopfully movie kicks ass 🙂

X3 Stirs Cast Emotions

The cast of the upcoming X-Men: The Last Stand said that the film raised issues that struck close to home, so much so that actors Ian McKellen, Halle Berry and Hugh Jackman ended up arguing about the film's central dilemma during a roundtable interview from the Vancouver, Canada, set last December.

The third film in the X-Men franchise takes the series' underlying theme of alienation to its logical conclusion with a story centered on a "cure" for mutations. Both McKellen and Jackman said separately that they think the new script is the best of the series. McKellen called it "a script that we all agree is superior from the start to the previous two."

The introduction of a cure presents each mutant character with a choice whether to accept themselves as they are or take the chance at becoming "normal." It was clearly a dilemma to which the actors responded emotionally.

"There are people who think gay people can be cured," said McKellen (Magneto), who has spoken publicly about his own homosexuality. "My reaction to the idea that I can be cured as a mutant is as contemptuous as my view of people who say I need curing of my sexuality. The idea that black people could take a pill that would cure them of being black is abhorrent to me."

Halle Berry, who plays Storm, echoed McKellen's sentiment. "Being a black woman, a woman of color, I think that's been an issue I've struggled with my whole life," she said. "Feeling like, somehow when I was a child, if I could change myself somehow, my life would be inevitably better. As I've gotten older, I think I've come to terms with what nonsense that is, and this movie adds light to that dark subject."

Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine, took the other side, pointing out that there are other characters for whom the cure is more attractive. "Rogue [Anna Paquin], as amazingly powerful as she is, lives a potentially very lonely life," said Jackman. "Never being able to touch anyone, never being able to have a physical relationship, never able to have children. Now, as politically abhorrent as something like the cure is, it's also humanely, socially, incredibly understandable that a character like that would take it."

"It isn't necessarily her mutancy that's the problem," McKellen shot back. "It's other people's reaction to it. Maybe it's society that's wrong, not her."

The cast then seemed to realize that they were getting emotional about the topic and backed off to more conventional interview subjects.

"It'll get you worked up, this script," McKellen said at one point. "And so it should, because I don't think people should be cured of their God-given nature." X-Men: The Last Stand opens May 26. "”John Sullivan

I am really looking forward to this movie, I love the X-men movies, I have only read Joss whedons X-men comic(Because it was by him), although I stopped a while ago, but the movie's have kept my attention.
The add for this is so cool, it really does look like an all out war, and That article N4H posted on them arguing about the issues, I think is really good, because people love to do that when the movie comes out, and the actors are already doing it!

thanks for the info nerd4hire 🙂 a good read i cant wait for the movie 🙂

Im excited about the 3rd film, nice to see Halle finally do something as Storm instead of just standing around only there to be the special effects girl. And a lot of old Storm haters from the first two movies have liked what they have seen so far from the trailers so thats a plus.

i liked her in the first one, defeated toad. and in x2 she did that cool weather storm thing, but we all know shes better than that, cant wait to see whats shes like in 3rd if trailours are anything to go by.

cyclops gets on my nerves...... wolverine RULES 🙂

I love Cyclops, he's integral to the team. He's the X-Man who most fully believes in Xavier's dream.

I've been reading Marvel comic books now for the better part of twenty years, firstly buying second hand copies from the market book stall and then later discovering my local newsagent had started stocking new issues. I remember the very first brand new Marvel comic i bought was Uncanny X-Men [HASHTAG]#228[/HASHTAG], a part of the Fall of the Mutants crossover. Wasn't long after that when i discovered a book shop had opened in town that had an entire comic book section at the back. From then i was hooked and i've been collecting ever since so i've read a fair number of X-Men comics by this point.

I have to say that i'm a big fan of the movies too. The first two were just brilliant and even though they didn't stick to the comic storylines absolutely accurately (but then, how could they?) they instead managed to tell a really great version of the X-mythology of their own. From the trailer it looks as if X3 is going to be a brilliant conclusion to the trilogy.

And yeah, Gambit made his first appearance in Uncanny X-Men [HASHTAG]#266[/HASHTAG], cover dated August 1990. I also would have liked him to feature more in the X movies but apart from a brief shot of him via Cerebro and a mention on a computer list Mystique was looking at it doesn't appear that Remy will be getting a role. Shame.

dude hes mention on list via cerbro ( i know hes alive then but dude 🙂 ) gambit rules hey maybe if ice man plays away maybe then theyl introduce rouge and gambit 🙂 thats how it should be , the sexual tention between them two not ice man. BRING ON GAMBIT PLEASE 🙂
oh forgot if iv mentioned b4 but vini jones ex bad ass footy player is going to be jugganught ????
