Xanders worst moment

I don't think him sleeping with Faith was that big of a deal to be honest. I can see what PB means about saving it for someone he cared about but that's not realistic for everyone, nor important for everyone.

I actually think it was a great turning point for Xander to have had sex with her. I think he learnt some lessons from it and its not like it was totally out of the blue. Faith was a very sexual creature and Xander was in a way too, despite being a virgin up until that point.

The whole way it panned out; turning up when she needed help, rescuing her and bearing mind what Faith has already said about being in battle. Passion ensued.

Well, Xander always kinda had a thing for the slayers, I just thought in season 1 he is going to be with Buffy. You can say I was cheering for them. Until
the episode Angel ofc. 😀

And Flannen it's sad that people don't found important their first time. I'm not a big angel inside nor outside, but I do want to cheerish that moment, not to look at it like something I'm disgusted with.

I don't know if I would go as far to say that it's sad. Sure, its not the way I view it, but people think differently about things and have different beliefs. Different things happen to different people.

And to some extent I think that at first Xander considered it to be something, not that he could/would necessarily 'cherish' but I think he thought it meant more than it turned out to. Like you said yourself, Xander thought it meant him and Faith had a connection and that it meant he 'knew' her. And may be it still did/does mean more. I think Faith's treatment of it afterwards has a lot to with front she was putting up at this time. I don't think it was something Xander has ever been disgusted with.

Lol, he probably feels like a scared little school girl.

I think that's why I like that scene, to be honest. The fact it acknowledges that a woman can be an overtly sexual being in charge of her sexuality and not be ashamed of it. It's the only type of feminist message I can generally relate to. There's no reason why Faith can't or shouldn't be in control of that situation.

AMEN. I thought it was hot that she took charge... And I wish people would realize that it's ok for women to do that. ;)
No there is not. I agree with you. But I kinda feel sorry for him, I don't know why, maybe because back then I hoped he is going to get back to Cordy 😀

I get what you mean. And yeah, I always preferred him with Cordy and hoped they'd get back together :)
After that scene he was one step lower because I always saw him like a great character, and for me that was far from great. I'm not saying Faith is bad as character, I found her very intersting, just I saw Xander having sex with someone he cares about. You can't say he is most romantic man, but he is not that kind of trash. But there is one important thing, he belived that because of that he knows her.

Actually, Xander thought he and Faith had a connection because they slept together. He thought that having sex with a woman means that they're "together" in a way, not realizing he was just a random guy until Faith tried to strangle him.

Forgive me if this is redundant, as I haven't have a chance to read this entire thread. I wanted to get my two-cents in, though.

The other night, I re-watched the Season 2 finale. I believe Xander's worst moment was in "Becoming Part 2" when he fails to mention that Willow was going the spell to attempt to restore Angel's soul, and instead said, "Kick his ass."

I just have a really hard time with his decision to keep this very important piece of information from Buffy. Now, before you all go defending him, I know Xander's only human, and he was jealous of Angel and arguably still had feelings for Buffy...and I know that he was very upset about Jenny's death...but he knew how much Angel meant to Buffy, and it seems like if there was any way that she could have Angel back to the way he was, Xander would support that - because it would make Buffy, his friend, happy.
If he had told Buffy about Willow's spell, maybe she could have gotten to him in time to stop Angelus from using his blood to open Acathla's vortex.

It was just such a selfish move on Xander's part. It's hard for me to forgive.

Thoughts?

Xander is one of my favorite charictors. I love him. He makes me laugh so much. But there are times I would have punched him in the face.

Like the Angel thing. First he tried to get faith to Kill ANgel then he didnt tell Buf that Will was working on his cure. Even if he did not like the guy he needs to understand that his best frined is in love with him and she desirves his trust and confidance even if he does not agree with her decision.

I am against him cheating on Cordy with Willow. I also see Willows fault in that but I think that was a bad moment for him. He really had something going and he screwed that up hard.

And I DO think that him leaveing Anya at the alter was horrible. He was shown possibilitys and he freaked. He knew he loved Anay! He should have tried to make it work. He knew what the possibilitys were so he could have worked to prevent those things from happening but he took the cowards way out.

I do love him. He did so much good but I think it is important to look at a persons flaws as well as their good points

I do think it's selfish and wrong for him to hold that info away from Buffy, but I disagree about the reasons. I don't think Xander lied because he had feelings for Buffy or out of jealousy. I think he lied because he believed Angel deserved to die, that just because he'd be getting a soul it wouldn't cancel what he had done, and because of Xander's lack of faith in Buffy and Willow to pull it off. Willow was too hurt, she might not be able to do that spell, and Buffy had failed several times from killing Angel.

That is my worst Xander moment to, above all. Maybe it wouldn't make a difference. Maybe Angel would use the sword like he did, while Buffy was fighting other vamps. And maybe it would make a difference. Maybe, if Buffy knew what Will was trying to do, maybe her only and main goal would be Angel. She would probably spent all her time trying to move Angel from Acathla. Either was, it was Xander's duty, Willow asked him to tell Buffy what are they going to do. He was a bad friend that day, putting his own feeling and thoughts about Angel before Buffy's. And that one line left mark on Buffy, as we see in Selfless.

^^summoning a dancing demon? Cant be to hard on him, its Xander. You'd almost expect that from him.

yah who can forget about that. he summoned a demon that killed people...but that is just him
For me Xanders worst moment is at the end of season 2. Buffy is headed off to kill Angel and instead of him telling her to try and stall Angel so Willow can re-ensoul him he just tells her to good luck or kick ass or something dumb like that. BTW, I love when that gets brought up in season 7. It always made me happy. But anywho, yeah, Xander doing that really pissed me off. And yes, I know she should not be in love with a vampire and all that crap but really, I think Xander did that mostly because he did not like to see his Buffy with someone else.

dumb?? joss doesn't write dumb stuff
I think Xander did that mostly because he did not like to see his Buffy with someone else.

If that's the real reason, then why didn't Xander cheer Kendra on when she suggested killing Angel? He was against killing Angel and even called him their friend.

The reason for Xander's lie is way more deeper than mere jealousy. Things changed after Angel lost his soul, he murdered people, tried to kill Xander himself in BB&B, and caused Buffy a lot of pain. Xander was pissed that everybody was set on getting Angel back his soul and then everything will be forgiven. He thinks it's not fair because souled and soulless Angel are the same person to him. Not to mention that Angelus must be stopped before ending the world.

Yes to all that.

Xander knew that Buffy couldn't kill Angel before because she was hoping to have his soul restored, so not telling her was not giving her false hopes that the restoration spell will work this time.

I think any of Xander's jelaousy moments are worse than in Hell's Bells. I can't be mad at him for leaving Anya, he thought it was the right thing to do.
.

Same here. I wasn't mad at him about leaving her, it was just sad. He did the right thing though.

As for him being jealous, I totally agree. He was all up in Buffy's personal life many many times.
