How did you get into the Buffyuniverse?
Did you watched BTVS on TV ? Read the books or the comics? Or did friends convinced you to start with the show? Did you bought the DVDs? Something other?

Personally I started with season 8, that means that I read the comics. I borrowed them from our town library! I read them once then twice and then I got some money and bought the first season! What a experience! Unfortunateletly I am at season 7 now, so it's nearly finished!

Pretty much exactly what Darla said, saw it on tv first time around because I was a big SMG fan already.

I remember watching Welcome to The Hellmouth or The Harvest when it originally aired. and then I didn't watch buffy again until the mid-season 3 was originally airing then I just continued watching from there.

I saw it on TV when it first aired here, but I really only caught random episodes here and there. I sat down and started watching it properly on DVD a couple of years later.

I streamed it online because of my obsession with HIMYM. Ergo, Alyson Hannigan as Willow was the attraction at first.

Haha, yeah. Exactly the same :D
My mom was out in the living room once doing a little rewatch, so I just kind of stuck around, asked her what the name of the show was, she said it, I took the DVDs into my room and started from there. This was probably like 6 years ago, still not tired of Buffy or ANGEL. 😛

Hmm, I saw the odd episode in my teens when it was on BBC2 (that didn't last too long I don't think- I can't remember), and my ex boyfriend was a big fan, but I only saw a couple of episodes with him too. My boyfriend is also a fan, and his mum gave us all of her video boxsets sometime last year, when she upgraded to DVD, and I watched them all then. I think I've seen the first few series a few times, and I've only seen series 7 once. I didn't mind series 7, I just preferred some of the others.
Oh, I also read a few of the books- the Angel series of books, you know, when he goes all Angelus, before I actually saw any of the series at all, so I probably voted wrongly...sorry about that...
I borrowed them off my friend, Lauren. I think I might still have one of her books actually...oops

I'm part of the group that watched it from the first episode when it originally aired. I watched the movie before the show, of course, and the movie was funny and I like vampire things so Buffy was a no brainer.

My high school best friend raved about it after it premiered... I was at her house spending the night one night that it came on and she "forced" me to watch it with her. I didn't get hooked immediately, but I didn't hate it, either. I caught episodes here and there, but by the time Season 2 premiered I was definitely hooked.

it's good to have such friends isn' it? ;D
I saw it on TV when it first aired here, but I really only caught random episodes here and there. I sat down and started watching it properly on DVD a couple of years later.

Same here. I enjoyed it when I did occasionally watch it, but I didn't become a big fan until a few years later when I sat down and watched all of it.

I bought the DVD's
Someone talked about Firefly on some forum, or rather the movie Serenity. I thought it sounded like a great show and checked it out. Absolutely loved it.

Decided after that to check out Whedons other shows that I had seen people talked about but never cared to watch.
Turned out it was another great show. 🙂

/SK

I checked out Buffy the Vampire Slayer, because Alyson Hannigan plays Lily on How I Met Your Mother.
I started watching BtVS on the Internet and I really enjoyed it, so I bought the DVDs.

Exactly the same as me!
The original movie with Kristy Swanson was my first exposure to Buffy. I didn't like it much and didn't watch the TV series at first because I thought it would be goofy like the movie. Then I got into it later. I didn't see the series all the way through until I bought the DVD sets. (And I never watched Angel, except for a few episodes, until I got the DVD's.)

It was the season 8 comics that motivated me to get into fandom, though. When Buffy was on TV I was more involved with Xena fandom.

I was really young when it first started in the UK and I watched some episodes of season 1 and season 2 on BBC2 when they were repeated but by the time the third season started in the UK i'd caught up with the other two seasons and started to watch it every week. Although I loved it, I became very passionate about watching it during season 3 and season 4. It was my mom that started me on it, even though shes not a major fan herself. I still love it now, 11 or more years later and its still in my DVD player at least once a week.

Well the Buffy film was on tv once, and I thought it was rubbish. I knew of the series and that it was very popular and so I initially rented the first few episodes some years back and to be honest I didn't like it all that much--so I kinda forgot about the show. At the shops, I saw the shiny Buffy boxset and just bought the whole thing (it was like an afterthought really, I was going to the checkout and the boxset was just staring at me, again all shiny and I just picked it up as I was passing). And it was on sale too hehe..

I saw the first episode...in 2010 lol. I caught the reruns of "Welcome to the Hellmouth" and I thought this show was frickin amazing
