Your One Special Movie Or TV Show

I know I already mentioned Batman Begins, and I'm not changing my answer, but I'm going to have to go with two. The more I thought about this question the more I couldn't answer it without mentioning Game of Thrones.

I'm kind of counting the book series and the HBO show as one big, shared universe here, but this is a series that I just connect with. Love it.

Typically when I read a book that pushes all of the right buttons, my absolute last thought is that I want it to be made into a movie, but I suppose that's because of the nature of the books that tend to strike me. The clearest example of this that I can think of is David Foster Wallace's Infinite Jest - absolutely brilliant novel, 100% unfilmable. Then again, I thought the same thing about Cloud Atlas and the movie came out okay, so you never know.

That said, I don't have a single book or TV show that is more special to me than the rest, but if I have to think of a specific TV show that makes me especially fuzzy, I'd have to say Arrested Development. AD is unique in that it's not just the show itself that makes me love it so dearly (though that's a huge part of it because it's absolutely hilarious and wonderful in every way), it's the context in which I've watched it. My whole family and pretty much all of my best friends are fans of it, so I have lots of fond memories of watching it/talking about it with people I love.

I fell absolutely in LOVE with "P.S. I Love You" when I read it. I didn't even know they had made it into a movie until seeing the movie poster in a video rental store a few years back, so of course I HAD to see the movie. I was pleasantly surprised to see James Marsters in the movie, but other than that I was highly disappointed in the movie itself. I felt like they Americanized it way too much, and they cast actors who felt too old for most of the characters.

Lately, it's been the opposite. I've been lured to books by watching a feature film or tv show show adaptation: Avatar:the last Airbender (the cartoon was a gazillion times richer than Shyamalan's version-it better improve with the next few ones), and Legend of the Seeker are just two.

Any movie based on of any of Paulo Coelho's books would be awesome though.

ok, I'm really bored so pardon me bringing up a bunch of old thread 😛

Now I have so many special movies and shows for many reason, but I'll go with the Pirate of the Caribbean franchise. It's something I share with my mom which makes it very important to me, I must have seen the movies over 20 times each (and I'm not exaggerating).

The West Wing.

I get such a kick out of seeing the actors nod back to their roles, which happens a lot. Any scrap of anything that I can get of that show absolutely delights me.

I just bought the complete series of that for my Mom. We're about to start watching it together. I'm pretty excited. I've heard awesome things.

When I started watching it I didn't think it would be so good. It is hyped so much that you think it couldn't possibly deliver but it really, really does. The writing is the best I've ever seen. The team aka "The Scooby Gang" are the best team of people I've ever had the joy of watching and I don't know anyone who has watched this show who doesn't view President Bartlett as their favourite President. Period.

Okay, I'll stop gushing now, but basically, I think you'll like this show. 🙂

I would love for Veronica Mars to be made into a movie.....oh, wait a second...IT HAS! 😀 😀 😀 (Thanks to backers like me, of course)

It went from a book in the making to a television series to a movie, and now there's talks of it turning into a novel series, just as the creator originally intended. I'm beyond excited! 🙂
