Your OTP

It makes me sad that there are no Tillow fans 🙁 i mean yeah Bangel and Spuffy both come at a close second and Of course Fuffy is in the running...but why no love for Tillow? *cries*

Aww, I think most of us love Tillow. They're adorable and super cute. They're just not the first in my book, but definitely in top 5. 🙂

ok you made me feel better :) top 5 is better than nothing
Bangel

- Because she learned to trust him.
- Because he wanted to be a better man because of her.
- Because they grew up together.
- Because they made each other strong.
- Because their love will never die.
- Because she's not done baking.
- Because they're meant to be.
- Because they have chemistry.
- Because they're so cute together.

Ooooh and Aaahh! "sigh" BAngel Affirmation just making me feel all warm and tingly inside.
Spoilers for Angel S:4 onwards.

I don't think I have an OTP. My favourite 'ship is Wesley/Lilah but I wouldn't say OMGTHEYWEREDESTINEDTOBETOGETHERFOREVER because they wern't; their destinys got them both killed. I think that all of a characters relationships with other characters (including friendships and frenemies) helped shape them either positively or negatively but ultimately helped them to grow as characters, and therefore are all important.

With the exception of Connelia because she was posessed and he didn't remember any of it after S4 finished anyway (until he became stable Connor that most people actually like).

Actually, screw it, Wesley and Lilah were amazing together. They can be my OTP. Whoop whoop, now I'm a REAL shipper!

Even though I'm a big Cander, I think I'm going to do Dangel today because I've come to like them alittle bit more recently.

Dangel

-They've been lovers for 150 years
-They loved eachother when they were evil and souled vampires, which is proven in seasons 2 and 3 of Angel
-They knew eachother more than they knew anyone else
-They had a child together, that brings them closer together ( when Darla was pregnant and before she staked herself)
-Their bond will always be extraordinary

Tillow 😀

Number one favorite pairing is Tillow. Their love is everything, the way I see it is that Willow and Tara are soulmates, and the genuine love and affection they shared was the most obvious one in the show.

Awww, yay!!! another Tillow!!!!
Spuffy, obviously. And people have said it all. But I just must say something. I've been a Bangel before, one of the biggest out there. But then came the Spuffy, and my eyes got cleared. I've experienced both and know how both sides feel like, so I'm objective when I say that I think Spuffy is better. It's just when there was only one Buffy lover, it's like we didn't have to choose, there was only one choice, so you either loved it or hated it, but you couldn't have it another way. Now that I know both and been both, I know Spuffy is the only truth.

I too was a Bangel before I knew Spuffy existed and I agree, after seeing both, Spuffy is it.

hehe I was a Spuffy before I became a Bangel, does that mean I'm objective when I say Bangel is better? Just sayin'... ;)

You are, you just see it from another POV, with your own opinion. Which is stupid (just kidding, love you! 😀)

Bangel

Because he didn't know love before her.
Because he saw her and wanted to be better.
Because he never forgot the love he had for her.
Because he only wanted the beast for her.
Because he would give it all up for her.
Because he taught her that the world isn't black and while or good and evil.
Because without him its hard for her to breath.
Because in her future she sees him.
Because not matter where they are or what point they are at in there life they still love each other.
Because they are always.

and because I'm a hopeless romantic 😉

"Because in her future she sees him." Not too sure that should be present tense. As of the end of season 7, she saw no one.

@zobothehobo: she said she doesn't look that far ahead, but if she does, she sees him. that's what she said.

I just love this ship. It hurts me they never got it together properly =(

Spuffy. The reason I'm still interested in Btvs, and still in the fandom after 10 years.

I love that they started as mortal enemies, and ended up as lovers, that they went from hatred to love in a long, difficult, everchanging and engrossing process. This is the best storyline I have ever seen on tv, and I'll be forever grateful to all the people involved for giving it to me.

9) When Nancy asked who didn't sleep together, Xander could've looked at Buffy, but figured Spike was hotter, and surprise, surprise, Spike was looking back. *hearts them*
I never thought about this. Cute scene! I'm not big on Spander, but I could see why people would be. There is alot going on there.

As for my answer;

My OTP? Bangel, of course.

JUST KIDDING! *giggles*

Spuffy, obviously. I love them with all my little fangirl heart.

Angearia said it better than I ever could, and I agree with every single word of hers.

Buffy is a character torn between two identities she struggles to integrate, the lone warrior Slayer and the perky "just a girl" cheerleader. Spike is a character who bridges the divide between the Other (the shadow, demons) and the Self (the light, humanity); a demon who retains a sense of humanity upon turning into a vampire, the ability to love, and through loving Buffy and his own determination, he fights back for his soul, reuniting both Other and Self within him. He is a guiding star for Buffy, who fears she's losing touch with her own humanity and turning hard as stone because she's the Slayer. Spike helps Buffy reconnect to her humanity. Spike who "like this world" and who lives every moment to the fullest. Spike who's so emotionally open because he's incapable of existing without wearing his heart on his sleeve.

In that moment they are one. They are complete. They are each other's mirrors that reflect light. Without a soul, Spike is a creature who cannot fully reflect light into a mirror. With his soul (and the amulet), he reflects the sun. And so Buffy basks in what's real, overwhelmed and trembling in awe. She clasps his hand and tells him she loves him. Spike's effulgence is Buffy's effulgence. She gets her fire back, her ability to love, her unity of self, through learning to love and embrace Spike in her heart.

While working out I thought about it some and thought I should clarify my reasoning. You see I was thirteen when Buffy came on; so I was just getting ready to start my own high school career. I've been watching horror films and r-rated movies since I was 6 years old. My mother and older brother explained that these were just people pretending and they used movie "magic" to make stuff look so real.

I had a decent head on my shoulders so I enjoyed the movies while comprehending it was just a story. By the time '97 rolled around I was a full fledged horror Buff (lol). I gave Buffy a chance during it's premiere because it featured characters my age and it would contain horror elements. The Angel and Buffy romance took place right when I was noticing girls and beginning to understand the concept of love outside a familial connection. Hearts and puppies nailed to doors and all that good stuff. As is often the case I discovered after a while that while a sweet sentiment; a strong bond can not sustain a lifetime of love without rough edges that were there to begin with.

This of course occurred right around the time old leather britches was ending the world; which is what mine felt like doing at the time. After that I went under the ill conceived notion that love was crap and I should just find someone to occupy my time with (season 4 & 5 Ruffy). During season five I was eighteen and my perception of love changed as Spike underwent his own drastic awakening. I came to the conclusion that someone far wiser than I did.

We like people for their strengths; but love them for their flaws.

Love isn't like two puzzle pieces coming together in perfect harmony; there should be just enough playing room so that over time; the two give and take so then only after a lifetime do both pieces fit.

Buffy's horror aspect was overall tamer than I was accustomed to; but what it mirrored in my own growth during my formative years has endeared it to me for the rest of my life.

Spuffy and Cangel represent two couples who at first glance would never have a reason to fall in love. The odds were so set against them from the start that to believe they might find happiness together is absurd.

But love is absurd; life is short; and to dream the impossible is the only way to live.

Not to mention how cute they are together; like a couple of bunnies...hoppy, floppy bunnies.

This post is bordering on War & Peace length; so I'll end by saying that I might be loves bitca; but at least I'm man enough to admit it.

Here endeth the bloggin'.

That's so cool that you watched Buffy when it was on television. I discovered it much later - in 2005, in fact. I got real sick and had to take some time off work. A co-worker lent me the series on DVD and the rest, well, is history.

I think that if I had had Buffy around when I was a kid it would have helped me a lot. I could have really identified with the characters. Junior high/freshman year of HS was a difficult time for me.

Question; since you did watch it back then, what was your initial reactions? Has your opinions on aspects of the show changed since then? How so?

Interesting. Sounds like you could really identify with the characters, then?

We like people for their strengths; but love them for their flaws.

Yes, we do. Hence why I love Buffy and Spike so much. They're too deeply flawed characters, but so strong.

Love isn't like two puzzle pieces coming together in perfect harmony; there should be just enough playing room so that over time; the two give and take so then only after a lifetime do both pieces fit.

Is it just my imagination, or are you referring to Spuffy here? 😉

Buffy's horror aspect was overall tamer than I was accustomed to; but what it mirrored in my own growth during my formative years has endeared it to me for the rest of my life.

Nice. I wish I could had that experience. High School is Hell is a strong metaphor that I imagine many teens can identify with. Though the horrors in Buffy were watered down with camp, I still feel many of the themes are very adult. I was sheltered as a kid, and I bet my mother wouldn't have let me watch it, anyway, even if I had been aware of its existence.

Spuffy and Cangel represent two couples who at first glance would never have a reason to fall in love. The odds were so set against them from the start that to believe they might find happiness together is absurd.

True, true. That's what makes their stories so remarkable and enduring. Spike and Buffy came full circle; they started as mortal enemies, became lovers, and finally the in the end, were the closest of friends. Powerful stuff.

But love is absurd; life is short; and to dream the impossible is the only way to live.

You can not choose who you love. It chooses you, right? That's what they say.

This post is bordering on War & Peace length; so I'll end by saying that I might be loves bitca; but at least I'm man enough to admit it.

You should write a 'ship manifesto.

Buffy/Angel has always been and will always be the flagship of my shipping fleet, and this is why:

The first time Angel sees Buffy is the first time in his entire cursed existence (or perhaps longer) that he feels hope, and for that, he loves her and wants to protect her. As soon as she meets, him there is a spark. He gives her his jacket because she looks cold. For her, when he's in the room, it's like the lights dim everywhere else. Once she knows he's a vampire, it isn't until she thinks he's hurt someone she loves that she can contemplate hurting him. After learning about his soul, when she bares her neck to him and his eyes travel from there to her face, where they linger with so much tenderness, it becomes something much more than a regular crush for her. He kills Darla to save her.

She loves him in spite of his past. He doesn't need her to dress up as a girl from his time; he loves her for her. She catches him by surprise with her open-hearted acceptance and unconditional love when she kisses him while his vampire features are to the fore, rather than being disgusted by them. He catches her by surprise with how much she means to him when he gives her the Claddagh ring and shows her the one he already wears. When she looks into the future, all she sees is him, and all he sees is her. He offers his life to the Judge in place of hers. They are each other's perfect happiness. Even when he's gone, her first instinct is to run to him. The first thing he notices through his confusion after being cursed again is that she's hurt.

Her name is the first word he speaks after returning from hell. She teaches him the importance of fighting, that he can make amends, that he isn't just a monster. He reminds her of what she taught him about fighting when she becomes discouraged. He loves everything about her, not just that she's the Slayer; he would still love her if she wasn't. They are a seamless team when they fight together, and they take cues from each other perfectly in their deception to make Faith tell them everything she knows. She is the only one in over two and a half centuries with whom he's been in love. She will always be his girl. He dreams of marrying her. She dreams about being with him forever. They know they are victims of their circumstances, the only things that could possibly keep them apart. He is strong enough not to keep her bound to him, someone who is forbidden from being in the light and experiencing happiness, even though all he wants in the world is to be with her. He gives her the dance that meant so much to her at the Prom, even though he doesn't understand why it's important. Even though he has already left her, she fights Faith seemingly to the death to save him, and when that fails, she freely gives him her blood, willing to give so much that she could die, just as long as he doesn't.

Each can feel the other's presence without seeing them. He has humanity and the real immediate prospect of a happy life with her, and he gives it all back in an instant if it means her life will be spared even a little bit longer. Despite the chaos in his life, he goes to her when he learns of her mother's death, and offers whatever support she needs. When she dies despite what he gave up to prevent it, he doesn't succumb to his grief, but continues fighting and honors her. When he knows she's alive, he needs to see her, and she has to see him. She will never love anything in this life more than she loves him. Again, despite all the chaos in his life, he goes to her and offers to fight by her side when she's facing the greatest battle of her life. After all this time, a kiss (definitely with tongues) is her hello to him, and she basks. She cannot risk him in her fight, but she can trust him to win it for her if she loses. Sometimes she thinks about a future with him, and he can wait. They never say goodbye because they know it will never be over for them.

Woot. First Fangel here. They should have been a ship. The only girl that was Angels equal was Faith. Buffy was too selfish and caused more problems than anything. Faith is the free spirit Angel should have.

Spuffy 🙂 If I tried to put into words how much I love this couple, my post would end up being super long. So, I'll leave this short and simple: Sometimes, there's no need to keep waiting or looking for the one, when the person in front of you becomes the one. 🙂

Giles/Jenny - a couple that got me interested in the fandom. They were very sweet together, I enjoyed watching them, and the episode in which it all goes to hell (Passion) is one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever seen. I mean, the way the music reaches a crescendo as Giles mounts the stairs, and seems to just scream as he sees Jenny. Her telling her that she loves him, and him looking happy, hopeful- he wants to be with her, and when it finally looks like things are back on track, BOOM. And by the time he confesses his love for her, it's too late. It will always be too late.

She draws Giles out of his shell. They see the way their secrets have affected the other and they try to make amends. They have mysterious pasts. With Jenny's death, we see Giles turn from the capable, but generally calm and rational Watcher, to a man who turns into a cold eyed killer- he wants to kill Angel, he WILL kill Angel or he will die trying. Through the vast majority of the series, we see him thinking mainly of Buffy's welfare, and supporting her decisions, but it's not until she drags him out of the factory and punches him down that she gets through to him that she needs him. It's about Jenny, and revenge for Jenny, in that moment. It's Jenny's face that Drusilla brings forth to make Giles tell her about Acathla, after taking it from his mind.

OK, back to rational and less dreamy-eyed ranting mode for me XD

Spike and Drusilla come a close second- I just enjoy them as a couple. They are fun, they are obsessive, they are sexual. There's Spike, with his doting and adoration, there's Drusilla with her flirting and her madness, but for over a century, they are in love (quite clearly, the Judge senses their humanity as a result). And they're pretty badass- between the two of them, they've notched up 3 Slayer kills. I get that the writers wanted to bring Spike into the main cast, and I get that having him wreaking havoc and being evil with his gorgeous sire would cause a lot of plot difficulties in how to keep him around without him getting staked, or causing the audience to wonder why he never leaves Sunnydale... and I do enjoy Spike and Harmony, they amuse me 😛

Not sure what's third... Xander and Anya, perhaps. Anya's just so wonderfully tactless. Her straightforward attitude makes me smile, and I enjoyed the two characters together.
