I absolutely empathise with Willow in this scene. To the point that I don't think I will ever be able to watch that arc ever again. Everything about it gives me chills but at the same time, at least Tara didn't suffer. Her last moment she was in a room where she felt happy surrounded by people she loved, and in the company of her soul mate.
It's not exactly the line that feels like a kick in the chest to me, but the way Amber Benson delivered it.
On first watch I was like "oh [insert rude word here] Willow's been shot" then there's the twist that it isn't Willow that got hit at all and I was stunned. Now whenever I watch it, it leaves me cold. Like icy-dread-type cold. I have only ever watched it a couple of times because with all the events of that episode and Dark Willow, I don't like watching season 6 much. I love the season but it isn't the fun happy, shiny Buffy the Vampire Slayer that I like to think about.
Okay - you know a line has impact when I see it as a heading and immediately tear up 🙁
Such a horrifically sad scene... I sobbed when I first saw it. I can't watch the 'previously, on Buffy the Vampire Slayer' bits in S6/7 because of how often they show that scene and it bums me out 🙁
