Day 8 : Fav Bangel moment ?

It's the Amends scene! I've said that before!

I guess I'll share my second favorite scene (not IWRY because a lot of people will share that, hopefully):

I just love this scene. The music, the slow motion fall, how erotic it is... It's the first (and almost only) scene of a human drinking vampire blood so it's pretty significant. These types of scenes are common in vampire books/shows/movies but not on Buffy/Angel. It was a totally unexpected and epic scene. It was also fairly tragic that Angel was forced to drink the blood of the woman he loved and it was such a rejuvenating experience. It's kind of about taking an act of love (Buffy willingly offering up her blood to heal her "lover") and turning it into something perverse (the pleasure/pain, Angel's reluctance, Buffy nearly dying). Just the final nail in the Bangel coffin....

I always think this kind of question is going to be difficult, but I find my mind always goes to their scene in Forever. It's so beautiful and I think even people who hate them together will admit this is a great moment.

Buffy has been through a lot since she and Angel last met and since then, she has more responsibilities on her shoulders than her usual 'weight of the world.' She feels she has to be strong for everyone and it has been a very long time since we last saw her show such vulnerability and speak so openly and with such ease. Angel shows up and nobody is surprised; this moment doesn't even need to be read romantically as Angel is there to just be support Buffy and offer some encouraging words: "I know you don't feel like it now but you are strong, Buffy."

It's just perfect and encapsulates so much of what I love about them! As an aside, I don't know how anyone could call this an immature love.

Anyway, this bit from the script sums everything up nicely: "They are both pained and comforted by the powerful bond between them."

I had never known this was in the script. Thanks for sharing. That is so meaningful.

The part I love the most in this scene is at the end when he says he can stay a while longer and she sighs and says “good...good” she tucks her head under his chin and he stares off and she closes her eyes. I feel like she is drawing the last bit of comfort and strength she can from him and he is thinking about how he wishes he could do more.

Anyway I’m going to pick a fav moment tomorrow I just wanted to fangirl over ya’lls pick.

Just going to copypaste this because that is definitely my favorite Bangel scene. They have so many great ones but this one (as @Jam said )encapsulates what’s so good about their relationship. I love that after all this time the connection is still very much there, there’s no artificiality about it. It’s just Buffy grieving her mother and Angel being there for her. I love that this happens right after his epiphany, that Buffy can finally lean on someone and talk openly about how she feels and how scared she is and Angel is that person for her (This really reaffirms to me how much Angel not being there in the last few seasons had an impact on Buffy’s sense of isolation and why she became even more closed off). It’s amazing to me that he can just come back like this and they fall back into this comfortable dynamic. The way he arrives is also great. She doesn’t even need to look at him, she knows he’s there and they just hold hands. Of course one of my favorite things about the scene is also « How’s forever? Does forever work for you? » and of course it can’t be and they both understand it. They’ve grown so much!! But it’s nice that Angel offers to stay as long as she needs it. I wish he did stay longer though but I get it.

Sorry for the lack of structure and the rambling. I could talk about this scene for a very long time...

Surprise (Buffy's birthday) was BtVS 2x13 and Blood Ties (Buffy's birthday) was BtVS 5x13 which coincided with Happy Anniversary AtS 2x13.

On the three year anniversary of Angel saying "I love you" to Buffy, giving her a ring, making love, and experiencing perfect happiness, he stopped a man who was trying to freeze time at the moment he makes love with his girlfriend so they can stay together forever and he'll never have to be lonely without her.

The moment Angel would most want to freeze forever is IWRY.

Gene: So how is it that altering one particle of an entangled pair causes the other particle to be affected--without any communication between the two?
Val: Because space and time are one.
Gene: So how do you separate an entwined pair? You don't. You can't. In fact, you probably shouldn't even try.

Mohra: Together you are strong. Alone you are weak.

Bartender: Demons. We get a couple now and then but they're usually vampires passing for human.

Demon: He's the one. He doesn't know it yet but he's the one. From nothingness the human pestilence came, into nothingness it goes.

Angel: Well, you know, love it's a fire. It burns you--alive. Down to the bone. And then it turns the bone to ash.

Buffy has Spike pinned down on the kitchen counter. He then tries to break free by grabbing her shoulder which leads Angel to grab Spike's wrist and pin him back down.

I'm going to go with this MOMENT. Not this episode, not this entire scene but this is a great Bangel MOMENT. I've said this at other times and other places but I love that Buffy's whole FACE lights up. I have heard arguments that fact that its just SMG and not Buffy but if Joss didn't like the take he could have had them re-shoot it. The expression goes hand in hand with the text. She wants to take a moment, breathe a sigh of relief and be happy that Angel is there. And it reminds me that the Buffy I know and love is still there despite her cold and hard exterior.

Both Forever and EoD/Chosen are important to me because they show that despite the years, despite other relationships, despite their time apart there remains a bond between them. That they still love each other is written all over both of their faces. It doesn't necessarily have to take away from the fact that they have feelings for other people. Angel and his complicated feelings for Cordy, Buffy and her complicated feelings for Spike - that is still there. But that despite that, their love for each other "transcends everything."

You've got to question Angel's choice of wedding dress for Buffy. It's not something that she would choose to wear herself.

I think she would go for something a little less puffy, a little shorter sleeved and one that sits on the shoulders rather than halfway down them.

I disagree. I think a girly, dramatic, but not overly traditional dress is something she'd wear.

Why do you say that she'd wear something a bit shorter sleeved and that sits on the shoulders? She's worn off the shoulder tops before. And weddings are when you wear something different from usual anyway.

That just reminded me that the first time Buffy tells Angel she loves him, she's wearing that off-the-shoulder sweater with the tank underneath.

For obvious reasons but also... SMG has always been Buffy to me (I guess I have the opposite view to most Spuffies when it comes to this, Joss's opinion matters very little to me because SMG was the one who gave life to the character and she cared way more about Buffy Summers than Joss ever did) so her putting herself in Buffy's place and talking as if she was Buffy is the cherry on top. To see that she still feels that character all those years later and cares this much makes me emotional because I care a lot too. ❤

That has to be the worst picture of buffy I have ever seen. She looks like Bill Maher there.

I just think it would free up her arms more plus would be less likely to fall down.
