I hold out hope that the office itself will keep him from going to far left. When your the president all eyes are on you and you can't blame other members in your branch of government.
Barrack has made alot of promises. Just in Illinois toward the southern area of the state, he has coal miners convinced he is going to help them with clean coal refineries...and has a record that supports that claim. At the same time, to those of more green concerned natures he says he'll destroy the coal plant industry by making it so restrictive with red tape and fines, that it would not be cost effective to have a plant operating.
Just in this example, we have two very different things. Maybe he'll try to please both parties and find a solution in the middle somewhere, greenhouse compliant, but still workable coal plants?
The office can steer you more than you steer it, and it sure can change a person. I hope he uses his natural charisma to bring sides together in compromise, not ramrod things down our throats.
Been there, done that, with our last pres. elect.
