Help Alcohol- "Ignorance is No Excuse"

Could you just show your class "Beer Bad" and let it speak for itself? 😛
 
As you want something that gets the message across with pictures, how about
A photo of a person behind the bars in a police cell, ( Your local police may help you as they generally run similar anti drinking campaigns directed at the younger drinker.)
A picture of a coffin ( in a grave yard? )
A picture of a person putting their hand up to a bottle (of alcohol)
The only words that need be on the poster are
'Say No To Alcohol'
 
I was thinking "Ignorance is No Excuse...":

for being a dick
for being a bitch
for breaking objects
for driving drunk
for unprotected sex
for date rape
for not watching your limit
 
I think less dramatic things have more of an impact. Kids see other kids drinking or doing drugs, and they aren't dying and ODing. Yeah, those things happen, but the really sinister effects of drugs and alcohol are more subtle (ask my alcoholic dad, who's never been arrested or gotten into a car accident in his life, but alcohol has made him a shell of who he could have been). I always rolled my eyes at all the anti-pot commercials with all the horrible things happening to pot smokers, but the one that stuck with me was this one where this boy (maybe 10 years old) is talking to the camera as he goes out to get the mail. He says his brother smoked pot and he never got arrested or killed anyone or any of those things. He takes the mail in and goes down to the basement where his brother, who looks intentionally loser-like, is sitting on the couch staring at the TV. He gives him his mail and the kid says, "He's never done much of anything." To me that had impact, because while most people who smoke pot won't kill anyone because of it, it totally kills your motivation to accomplish anything (except massive intake of junk food). So I would personally go with something more low-key and honest, less melodramatic.

There's a series of ads in Ireland that have been used to create awareness of both drink-driving but also speeding. They are really very hard hitting ads and have become a national talking point for years now. The universal theme of these ads is not just the effect alcohol (or speeding) has on your life but on the lives of others. Maybe there might be something in that that you could use.

I know.. you could show a hot looking dude at a bar getting hammered and a butt ugly chick sitting next to him, then show them walking out together and as his friends are laughing and pointing..

What do you mean? You ARE beautiful! :)
What do you mean by 'ignorance'? Like, if you don't know the effects of consuming alcohol, you're not to blame? Or do you mean that you are sopposed to display that you're not supposed to blame alcohol for your actions while influenced by it?

Ok, so this is what you might do:

Go online and find statistics for underage drinking (deaths per year, drunk driving, amount consumed, etc) and use these in your "presentation." (Make sure to cite your sources!)
Then, find some relevant pictures online that correspond with the quotes and use those.
Then, to conclude, write out some "self-reflective" questions to get people thinking; like "Now that you know the consequences, will you still choose to drink?" or "Please don't drink and drive, your life might depend on it" or something like that.

LOL guys, you all have great ideas. I think I'm going to combine them all into one super-fantastic poster. 😀

As for the quote, I'm thinking, in bold letters, Face the Facts. Right underneath a fact about what can happen if you drink, of course. 🙂 What do you guys think?

Face the facts. That would be an easy way out as it is non-specific. The quote should be of what the poster is about.

Two hours after seeing the poster most people may well forget what the pictures are, yet they may well remember the quote (it is a sort of subliminal message) and Face the Facts would have no meaning at all.

Well, it's about why ignorance is no excuse. 😉
 
Any alcohol awareness campaign has to be brutal. Alcohol abuse destroys lives, do not be afraid to be shocking. I don't think it's possible to over the top with this issue.
