Are you Cuffy or Cander or Cangel or Coyle or Croog or Cesley or Cordelinoor?

Cander or Cangel but I 'm not against Cordy & Gunn even if I wanted Gunn & Gwen together.

Coyle. Doyle was great and had much unused potential. He and cordy went great together. Cangel was a mess but could've worked if Angel did not have thus intense history / possible future with Buffy.

My main canon ships are Fresley (the tragedy of it especially, having died on the vine as it did) and Bangel.

I've always wanted to ship Dawn with someone good for her, but all the options leave me feeling wanting. I don't like the thought of her with Xander.

Xander is anya's man.

Ship dawn with her AtS equivalent who is just as hated as she is... Connor.

As far as I can tell, the only reason people offer to ship Dawn and Connor is because they dislike them equally as much, or that they are "compatible" or some such nonsense just because they are both angsty or however they like to put it. Truth is, beyond the shallow comparison they have little in common. And I personally appreciate Dawn and I would like to have her with someone good and worthwhile. So unless people mean reformed Connor with the memory wipe, I'm afraid Connor is off the table for me.

dawn does do some pretty great growing up in S7 and the comics but you can't deny that they are.extremely convenient for one another!

Lol maybe too convenient by a certain measure!
Cesley hands down! Preferably with post Sunnydale Wesley - after he got laid and grew a backbone😎. Also thought CorGunn had possibilities when Gunn first arrived, before Fred. Xan/Cor was cute, but I preferred X/A or even X/D.

A world of yuck and hell no for Cordelia with Connor, who was virtually her kid AND also her partner's kid. Just no. The vile thing that violated (and eventually destroyed) Connor was not Cordelia.

My favorite crossover ship for Cordelia is Cameron Mitchell of Stargate SG-1

Angel was NEVER her partner.

When was Angel Cordelia partner ???
Cordelia/ Doyle all the way ,,, but without the stupid ship name, they are better than that. They were really sweet together. Of course, being in the Whedon verse, had the relationship been allowed to develop it would have come with all sorts of ridiculous angst (and still ended with one of them dying) but in my head they have a very sweet, down to earth, drama free relationship that would actually last the rest of their (lengthy) lives .

Reading this thread, I'm starting to feel really bad for Cordy... On to my personal opinions:
Cander - I do like this, though I'm not sure it could have lasted beyond high school. Maybe once she matured on AtS, but idk.
Cangel- No. I liked their friendship way more. (#Bangel4ever)
Coyle- I always go back and forth on this one. It was cut so short, but knowing Joss, that might have ended up being a good thing...
Croo- Awful ship name, but I like this ship. It worked the best in AtS S2 when the writers weren't pushing Cangel, and I really liked Groo.
Cesley- They were funny in BtVS S3, but wouldn't have worked. It could have worked on Angel, though.
Cordelinoor- This ship name makes me laugh. That's about all I can say without barfing, though.
Cunn- YES! Finally someone realizes the awesomeness of the ship that could have been!

Cangel. I loved the Cordy/Angel dynamic and was sorry it was cut short. In all honesty, I don't think anyone else was good enough for Cordy.

I really wish they had explored this, and given Angel a reason to figure out how to fight for his fully functional and anchored soul.
Cordy/Doyle easily. Doyle actually liked who Cordy was. Cordy only becomes seen as a viable love interest for Angel once she gives up every single one of her outside interests and that never sat right with me, he’s even dismissive of her as a shallow airhead as late as Epiphany

I have great affection for Cordy and Xander plus Cordy and Doyle which alias was cut way too short for it to develop to what it could potentially be for Cordelia.

I'll always like the Cordy and Xander relationship even though he ended up hurting her badly. I still believe it gave both characters some good growth in their journeys even if it was meant to only be a high school romance. I just enjoyed the different side of their personalities and characteristics that came out with them being a couple because it made them more likeable for me with all the trails and tribulations they had to go through with their friends and fellow classmates in getting together.

I do think if the Cordy and Doyle relationship had blossom into a proper romantic one, her develop as a character would still have been as good as it was for the first few series/seasons of ATS.

I loved her close friendships with Wesley and Angel but they did both suffer in the end for various reasons due to the decision to turn her friendship with Angel into a romantic one.

I'm not sure about any thing more than what we got with her and Gunn as that was pretty good for what it was until it went the same way as hers with Wesley due to focusing more on Cordy with Angel.

And I neither way with the Cordy and Connor thing because it was not actually Cordy by this point.

It's a shame that she ended up dying so young without having a deep and fulfilling relationship.

Xander is anya's man.

Ship dawn with her AtS equivalent who is just as hated as she is... Connor.
I actually like both Dawn and Connor, and I like to ship them, though my favorite ship for Dawn is actually Mini -Jack from Stargate... both of them came suddenly into existence and had a hard time settling into reality and I think they'd get each other and have a great sense of humour. I had fun writing them in my story Doing What Comes Naturally... but I like crossover pairings, so my options are almost infinite.

For Cordelia... well, I think she's an amazing character, and though I love her with Wes, as I said before, I think she's got a lot of potential with someone strong and willing to stand with a woman next to him, not behind him.

I'm a Cangel fan. I think they had a great relationship as friends and equals starting in S2, and they were one step away from a great romantic relationship. I wish we could have seen it much better implemented. In Bangel, I always felt that Buffy was too deferential towards Angel. For me, at times, it felt like she was scared of doing or saying the wrong thing (before others jump in, this is just my reading from my recollections, I haven't watched S1/S2 /S3 in a very long time). I got a very different vibe between Angel and Cordy. And it makes sense. Buffy was too young when she got involved with Angel. In AtS, Cordelia was older, more mature and always had shown fewer insecurities than Buffy. I also loved how Angel relied on her and admired her too. It was relationship cemented in mutual respect, friendship and admiration, imo. Too bad it wasn't really explored.

I agree with everything you said.

I think Cordelia is INFINITELY better for Angel than Buffy - Buffy was too 'young' emotionally and too deferential and let his opinions guide her life in ways that hurt her life. Angel needed someone to confront him and to drag him out of the dark and dank, and yes, to grow up a bit - Angel was plenty self centered. And though she was also self centered, Cordelia had the spunk to do it, and the sense of humour to do it without busting his ego or creating lots of strain or sturm and drang. She was adept at functioning in complicated society politics. Dealing with Angel wasn't ever going to throw her.

Buffy as she was back when she was with Angel, simply didn't have that emotional backbone yet, though she was strong and fearless in other areas. I think a lot of it was that it was first love (for Angel as well) and neither of them wanted to make waves, to talk about difficult stuff -- so it was more romance than relationship. Life cannot be sustained on romance. Theirs did not have a chance to grow into a full, adult relationship.

Not to say that what Buffy and Angel had was not real. It was. In my opinion, it was the very first time Angel ever felt utterly and completely loved... I think THAT not sex, is why he lost his soul. Making love to someone who loves you utterly, whom you love utterly is way more than orgasmic. If it was just orgasms, I'm assuming he gave himself plenty of those, and probably even had intercourse after he and Darla went their separate ways. (I think his willingness to have sex with Nina on his own series suggests that he knew it wasn't just sex). (Darla also failed to relieve him of his soul, but we know there wasn't much joy in that union)

Then of course, Buffy had to kill him. I don't think their relationship could come back from him killing her friends and tormenting her, or her killing him. He would resent that, no matter what, and she would feel guilty, no matter what, even with both giving lip service to it having been the right action.

I don't think their sex life would ever recover from the way losing her virginity ended. IMO, it scarred her for life. I believe that having your very first lover turn into a serial killer after you make love to them is not conducive to good, happy feelings about sex or even one's own sexuality. I think this explains a lot about Buffy's relationship issues later on with Parker, then Riley. Buffy and Angel were snakebit. I think they'd love each other, but they'd slowly destroy each other. Since Angel had no answers for the soul, his leaving was the right answer, though the high handed way he handled it, made me not like him very much - he decided for himself, and that was necessary, but he needed to talk with her, not drop a bomb... Of course, that was partly b/c she was so innocent and not ready to face what should have been clear from the time he returned. Clearly not an adult relationship with MUTUAL discussion.

But back to Cordelia. I don't know what would have transpired if Angel and Cordelia had managed to get together -- I really would have liked to see what would happen if he had found a solution to the tired old soul curse -- but I think Cordelia's presence transformed Angel's life and made him a better, more open person. she would not let him be quite so morose or take himself quite so seriously. They had none of the baggage of the tragedy that had become the relationship with Buffy. Cordelia's inner bitch was exactly what he needed. She was ready not to take any crap from anyone, Angel included. Angel was still learning how to 'be' in the world with people and Cordelia was exactly the person to not hesitate to tell him when she thought he was out of line or just wrong. He (and their mission) was also very good for Cordelia. She got out of her own shallow priorities and became a truly caring person...

Both of them became CHAMPIONS and I believe that being together was a big part of that growth for BOTH characters. I wish that the two of them had managed to raise Connor and convince him that his monster-father was Holtz, not Angel. I think shows don't do the hard work to make family work... It could have been fascinating and no, it did not have to be saccharine. Not with a vampire, a queen bee and maybe their scary monster of a son...

IMO, the series took a wrong turn with how Charisma was treated and never recovered, but that's a different discussion.

I think there were possibilities of a boyfriend for Cordelia in different team members so more than one.
Cander: I think if Cordelia and Xander had gotten back together again when they were older I think they could have had a real good relationship. On Buffy both were too immature to make it at that time.
Cangel: They were better as friends and they had chemistry as friends, but not romantically. Besides Angel was Cordelia’s boss so that was a good reason not to get more serious. Bosses and employees should stay just that. Both Angel and Cordelia were changed when the decision to go with Cangel was made.

Coyle: We got a glimpse of what they could have had and it would have been good together. You could tell Doyle really liked Cordelia and loved her even. Potential wasted.

Croog: Grooselugg was really crazy about Cordelia and I thought that was really sweet.

Cesley: Better off friends.

Cordelinoor: Gross and inappropriate. Should not have happened and should not be repeated.
