BtVS Confessions...

-Like others have said, by the end of the show, I wanted Xander to go away. He was the most consistently annoying character. I called Dawn "a more useless Xander."

-I hate Giles. My love for Giles started to decrease in season 4 and by season 6, it was all gone.

-I hated Joyce. I hated pretty much everything about Joyce.

-Cangel are good as parents together, in couple form without the baby.. eh... not so much.

-I really enjoyed Wesley Ats seasons 1 and 2. Buffy season 3 and Ats seasons 3-5 I hated him.

- I love season 6. It's so beautiful. I honestly feel bad for the people who hate season 6.

-I love season 7. I am a Spuffy and above all, a Spike fan so that would explain my love for season 7... but I also love the story of the First. I love Willow's journey of trying to live with what she did at the end of season 6 and learning to find balance. I love Andrew more than words can describe. I love season 7.

there's more.. I'll come back later

I liked Giles less and less the more time went on too! By season 6 he annoyed me so much.

Joyce hate karma! the scenes I can stand her in are *very* few and far between.
I have to agree with many above mentioned points and plus a few of my own:

- I hated Joyce tremendously
- I am in love with seasons 6 & 7 and not just because I'm a Spuffy, I just love the dark theme
- I didn't like OMFW when I first saw it, I only kindof fast-fast-fast-forwarded it
- I didn't like Tara at first, thought she was silly and well... boring?
- From the very first moment in "School Hard" when I saw Spike I was like "damn, he'd look good with Buffy". Ooh, that makes me psychic

I can't rememeber anything else, but when doing a rewatch I'll probably notice a ton of stuff that irritates me. Or actually, I like to be oblivious to the mistakes of those/that I love.

Z
zobothehobo
Your first two. Karma for those
I'm both a Spuffy and Bangel fan, though individually I prefer Spike over Angel. I think they both serve as the right guy for Buffy at different points of her life.

Aw, good idea to make a new thread about this, Steph! 🙂

Here is what I could think of.

- I thought Anya was VERY annoying in season 6.
- I really liked Riley as a character. With all his flaws.
- I personally think Buffy never found the right guy for her.
- I'm one of the few people who think Buffy and Xander should have got together in the end. 🙂
- Ethan was one of the best villains on the show.
- I disliked Drusilla.
- I also disliked Darla, 'cept in 'Lullaby'.
- I liked Spike more as a good guy than as a bad guy.
- I actually liked Glory's 'minions' more than her.
- Caleb was a really funny guy. 😛 (That might be due to Nathan playing him!)
- I always liked Wes, even on BtVS when he acted like a douche.
- I thought Harmony was funny, but never warmed up to her.
- I think it would have been great to have Jonathan join the Gang at some point.
- I liked Adam as a villain. I liked his cheesy look, haha!
- The episode 'Anne' was VERY boring.
- 'Amends' ending was really well acted by DB and SMG. Also it wasn't cheesy.
- On the first watch I was admiring the possibility of a couple involving Percy & Willow. 😛
- I liked Doyle, but I never understood why he's such a popular character. He's only been in a few episodes after all.
- I really really liked season 4 of Angel. My favorite season in the Whedonverse.
- I didn't like Gwen.
- Band Candy was the best ep on BtVS.
- Restless is one of the best too.
- I don't get the big thing about 'Doppelgangland'.
- I was more sad for Willow than Tara in Seeing Red.
- I side a lil bit more with Riley in his argument with Buffy in 'Into The Woods'.
- I wasn't that big into 'This Year's Girl'(not to confuse with Miki) & 'Who Are You'.
- I loved 'Beer Bad'.

And this is VERY unpopular but...

- Sid should have been made a regular cast member after 'The Puppet Show'. 😎

Totally agree about Buffy/Xander
I thought of more lol:

- I really liked Anne from Angel, even though she had such a small part I always really liked her and liked that she was the same character since s2 of Buffy.

- I wanted Gunn and Gwen to get together

- I LOVE Kate Lockely. I love Elizabeth Rohm and I love Kate.

I wanted Gunn and Gwen to get together too! Or at least stay together after they did ;)
First of all, I'm a Bangel and that's pretty unpopular lol.

Also, I positively HATE Tara and it drives me MAD when people keep going on about how sweet she is. I could detect NO chemistry with Willow whatsoever and I wanted to beat her head in with a cobble stone every time she stuttered or hid behind her (two-coloured) hair. I also think she's ugly, my flatmate and I call her "the blob". We were SO grossed out by the pyjama bottoms she insisted on wearing for what seemed like half of season 5, I mean did she ever change them after she went loola?

*coughs* wow, where did all that bile come from?

I was just reminded of another
- I love Spike to death. When we first saw him in School Hard, I turned to my sister and said "Oh he's BA. I like him." But as time went on and my love for Spike grew, I realized he was a much better good guy than a bad guy. Learning about geeky William in Fool For Love didn't surprise me at all because I knew Spike was a good man at heart. A lot of people think Spike was much cooler when he was evil and wanted to kill Buffy... but I think he was so much cooler when he was choosing to be a better man. Again, that's not to say I don't like evil Spike. I like every Spike we saw... but the later better man Spikes... so much better.

P
prophecygrrl
:D Me too!
- I like Dawn.
- I love Conner.
- S4 is one of the best of Angel
- I can see both sides at the end of S3 with the Conner situation bit I kinda always sorta... side with Wes.
- Gunn and Gwen should've had a long term relationship.
- I'm not all up for seeing Spike and Buffy in a romantic reltionship again.
- I've been drifting in and out of watching the first three seasons of Buffy again and I'll admit... I like Bangel. Quite a lot. Don't judge me!
- Lindsey should have became part of Angel Investigations at some point.
- What's wrong with Riley!?

brinkster130
brinkster130
nothing is wrong with a little Bangel love :D
I really like Dawn. No, really.
I love Angel Season 4.
Dear Boy is my favourite episode from the Buffyverse. Restless comes second. (The Body is the best episode, but I'd never say it was a favourite.)
I really don't find The Gift all that sad.
I'm completely indifferent towards Xander most of the time.
The end of Becoming Part 2 makes me laugh. 😛 Every time. I think it's cardboard cutout Angel that does it.

These kind of threads can be kind of difficult. It's hard to tell what is or isn't classed as an 'unpopular view'. Like when I joined the boards there was so much Cangel hate, now it's so popular that I would almost view it as the norm... Hrmm... That aside, here's my stab at this...

- I can't stand Cangel. I liked that we had this awesome platonic, almost brother sister type of relationship and was disappointed when Joss shoved them together so briefly.

- Xander. Just... Xander. In the earlier seasons I didn't find him funny at all, but in the later he became even worse. I felt a real nasty streak running through him. Not to mention what he did to poor Anya!

- I liked Riley and thought he made a sweet, caring boyfriend. An all round nice guy that just went off the tracks briefly.

- I don't have a favourite, or least favourite season. I love them all pretty equally. Even season 1 and season 4!

More 😉

Tara/Willow had a beautiful relationship but I still think Oz and Willow had a better one.

I Only Have Eyes For You is a 100% better than Waiting in the Wings. Same goes for Bothered, Bewitched, and Bewildered being better than Him. I hate it when they re-use plots.

I don't like Gwen. At all.

Cordelia and Xander had one of the best relationships in the 'verse and it's so overlooked and underrated.

I didn't use to, but I think Connor is an amazing character. Definitely gets on my nerves at times, but most of the other characters do too.

Kennedy gets way too much hate. And, I strongly believe it's just because she's not Tara.

I hated Gwen too! But because of the whole "mortal kombat" aspect. I mean, called Raiden and shoots electricty? Puh-Leeze! It's insulting.
S
SoBlind
don't agree on the tara thing. i liked tara but you know, that was it. was more into oz, really. so i still hate kennedy simply because she's annoying and obnoxious.
-Angel and Lindsey are the hottest slash couple in the 'verse next to Spangel.
-I hate Angel.
-I love AtS season 4.
-I love Dawn.
-Season 6 of BtVS is my favorite season.
-Season 5 of AtS is by far my favorite of the series.
-I despise Bangel.
-Although I dislike him for various obvious reasons, I think Conner was a very interesting character and a great addition to the show for dramatic purposes.
-Cangel is true love.
-Spike is Buffy's perfect mate.
-I am largely disinterested in Willow.
-Dead Things is a brilliant episode.
-Beer Bad is a riot.

Totally agree about Dead Things, and Cangel, and Spuffy :)
1. I think Cangel was one of the most natural love stories I've ever seen. I was seriously SHOCKED when I first saw people suggest it was forced.

2. I like BtVS better than AtS. Not in terms of quality necessarily. I just enjoy it more.

3. I don't think Kennedy is that bad at all. If you watch episodes like Showtime and when she first arrives, you see that she's almost always the first one to volunteer to fight with Buffy, she leads the Potentials and keeps them from breaking down.

4. I like the later seasons of BTVS more than the earlier ones. Again, not in terms of quality *necessarily*. I just enjoy them a lot more.

5. I think Not Fade Away was the perfect ending for AtS, and I wasn't disappointed in the slightest.

6. I love Gunn. :3

7. I don't think Riley was that bad. I'm not a Briley shipper or anything, I don't believe Buffy was fully in love with him, but heck, she was happy. She wasn't constantly hurting, for the most part of their relationship. And if Buffy's happy, I'm happy.

8. I loved Buffy's speeches in Season 7. Haters to the left. 😀

9. And I love Dawn. Love, okay. She may be whiny, but hi, so were most of the Scoobies a good lot of the time. At least she had the excuse of being a teenager, lol.

I agree with almost all of those. Particularly #1
Joan the Vampire Slayer
Joan the Vampire Slayer
I agree with all these except #7. I liked him alright up until the whole thing with the vampire whores...
I really think Oz should've come back during season 7 and gotten with Willow. If not Oz, then she could've gotten with Xander because while I didn't feel the chemistry in Season 3 between Willow and Xander, during Season 7 in the hospital room, I did.

Then if those relationships ended some how, Willow could've dated a girl again. I would've liked to see her go boy, girl, boy, girl.

And I guess I think an unpopular opinion is that I thought Willow was pansexual above anything else.

I also think Buffy got picked on waaay too much in the series.

G
GrrArghx
I think Willow's pansexual too.
S

I believe Willow was pansexual as well, you aren't alone.

Wait, you all think Willow had a fetish for cooking utensils?
Then if those relationships ended some how, Willow could've dated a girl again. I would've liked to see her go boy, girl, boy, girl.

And I guess I think an unpopular opinion is that I thought Willow was pansexual above anything else.

To expand on what I said when I repped you, I thought that it felt very forced for Willow to automatically just go "I'm gay now!" I have no problem with homosexuality, I just really believed that it was forced for her to immediately turn to that. They seemed to put her in a box, keeping the character from growing in her life from that point. It would have seemed much, much more natural to me to allow her the pansexuality bit.

As for more:

- I disliked Gwen. I found her very annoying. It bothers me that she was in ANY of the cast promo shots for season four. She was not important at all.

- Season four of Angel was pretty bad from start to finish. The only saving grace was Wesley/Lilah.

- As funny as it was, Harmony felt out of place to me in season 5 of Angel. She and Spike were cannon fodder, just there for the laughs, and that bugged me. Angel always seemed to be a little more adult than Buffy, it was supposed to have darker themes; Yes, it had funny moments and such to it, quite a few, actually, but those moments always seemed to flow in the show. Throwing Harmony AND Spike in the season just almost seemed to 'kiddie' it up for me, it wasn't the same dark show that I had grown to love.

- If they were going to fire Charisma, they should have done it at the end of season three and saved us the horror that was four.

Tillow4ever
Tillow4ever
They fired Charisma??? Why did they do that?! What?! I've never heard this before... am I stupid?
1.) Although I'm a hardcore Spuffy shipper, I like Bangel in seasons 1 and 2.
2.) I hate, hate, HATE Riley. It's so hard for me to think of anything good about him.
3.) The more I watch, the more I love Drusilla. Even when she's evil and kills, I still feel a bit of sympathy toward her because of how innocent she use to be and what Angelus did.
4.) I love The Girl In Question because sometimes, you just need to have an episode where the characters make fun of themselves!
5.) S6 and S7 of BtVS have some of the best writing, acting, and storylines of the series, and I watch them more than the earlier seasons (and it's not just because of Spuffy) 🙂

TGIQ karma!

I agree that I think Willow is pansexual or someone with a fluid sexuality. But I always felt that the fact that she primarily identified as a lesbian was perfectly normal as well. I know a few people in my life who are also pansexual, but they don't always call themselves that. It all comes down to how she identifies herself- it doesn't erase her possible attraction to men, it just makes it clear which gender she wants to start relationships with for the time being.

I thought it would've been interesting to have Xander be gay. I know Joss was setting up hints for either of them, but Seth Green's departure and Amber Benson's character (Tara wasn't created to specifically be a love interest for Willow at first) made Willow seem like the easier choice, storytelling wise and production wise.

-The more I think about it, the less I like the fact that Spike was around in AtS season five. I think his presence wasn't necessary and his character devolved because of it. The only reason I like that he's there is because it means he isn't dead.

I liked him in the back half of Season 5, but most of it was just...what are you doing here! Go back to Buffy! :D
S
StarSlayer
Oh, but I love his banters with Angel ;) Plus, we have their epic fight in "Destiny" where Spike wins!
1. Riley was perfect for Buffy, typical she had to mess it up. His ultimatum was fair to me.
2. Angel and Buffy are soulmates (any Dawson's Creek fans know what I mean?)
3. I like Kendra!
4. I like Kennedy. She was willing to fight and was helpful to the team, not to mention she had a backbone and fought for what she thought was right. Just like a slayer. And she took care of Willow.
5. Spike was better as a villian (however I accept him in his role in the show now because if I didn't I'd dislike it).
6. Season 3 was quality TV, although my favorite is season 2 for sentimental as well as story reasons.
7. I loved Kate on Angel, she should've been a regular.
8. Doyle's cool but overrated.
9. Buffy/Angel was not cheese, immature, or wrong it was pure passion.
10. Life Serial is HILARIOUS.
11. Season 5 of Angel is the worst ever. The show didn't find it's groove until season 3.
12. Buffy season 4 is a great season. The awkwardness of it relfected on the real-life transistion from high school to adulthood. Minus Anya's hair, it's quality. Speaking of ...
12. Where The Wild Things Are is funny and awesome. Don't get the hate for it at all.
13. Season 4 of Angel is epic, despite it's flaws. I was hooked and it looked like a movie every week.
14. I like Glory. Buffy realizing this was one thing she could not fight was fascinating to watch.
15. Cordy and Xander was a great relationship and of course he screwed it up (What Willow and Xander did pisses me off a lot now, they both had it so good.).

S
StarSlayer
Agree with 10, 14, and 15 :)
- BtVS should have ended with "The Gift".
- Riley is the worst character in any series, ever. I have an irrational, intensive hatred for him.
- Both Angel and Spike were infinitely more entertaining and likeable the further away from Buffy they were. Hell, I'd even include Riley in there. They were all better off without her.
- I'm not a huge fan of Buffy as a character. She's my third least-favourite of all the regulars (after Riley and Dawn). She had some great moments, but her whininess (I'm sorry, but as Faith said, you're a hot chick with superpowers, you're surrounded with family and friends that would walk through fire for you, and every man you meet instantly falls in love with you. Your life is not that bad.), righteousness and superiority complex really grated on me. If SMG wasn't such a brilliant actress, I would probably hate her.
- Caleb is a terrible character. He had one dimension and one dimension only, he was never anything but a misogynistic character, and his monologues got old fast. The only redeeming feature of his character is Nathan Fillion. His pure charisma made the character tolerable - his acting saves the writing.
- Kennedy (and Killow) wasn't that bad. She had annoying moments, but she was redeemed in my eyes by being the only one of those useless potentials that was actually prepared to get off her arse and do something, rather than just sit around and whine.
- S4 is a fantastic season. The Adam/Initiative arc is weak, but not terrible. The only huge point against the season is Riley. Aside from that - the characters were likeable and their arcs were strong. The season is filled with some fantastic episodes - Hush and Restless are just genius in every way. This Year's Girl/Who Are You, Fear Itself, Something Blue and Superstar are great too.
- The constant, hyperbolic praise that gets heaped on OMWF really annoys me. It's a brilliant episode there's no doubt, it definitely sneaks into my top 10... but come on, it's not that good. It's not the greatest thing ever written. It's not even nearly the best thing Joss Whedon's ever written. Hell, it's not even the best musical Joss Whedon's ever written.
- Buffy's soulmate is Faith.
