There is that point, certainly. However, I've always felt that a good story is like a good steak. Sure, it's the lean meat that we all enjoy, but if you totally eliminate all of the fat you lose a whole lot of the flavor A good story should certainly travel from Point A to Point B, but if it's just a straight line, with nothing extra along the way, it takes the very real risk of becoming boring.

A new Big Bad comes to town, Buffy tries to kill it, and fails. She gets all her friends together, they research, find a spell that weakens BB just enough for Buffy to put the final nail in its coffin. Everyone walks away whistling a happy tune, Season over.

right but theyre doing something different for once, the big bad happened and won, and this season (as stated in the articles about it) is supposed to show the scoobies dealing with it. thats something that hasnt happened in the buffyverse yet bc they always win. however if the aftermath ends up being similar to s9 where all they did is yell at buffy for not thinking of the little man and the whole world all at once, then ill be annoyed.
