Characters You Used to Hate And Now Like/Vice Versa

Anya! I didn't care for her when she was that vengeance demon and turned the world as if Buffy never came to Sunnydale and Willow and Xander were vamps...and then died...things were bad. But after she lost her demoness(Haha I think I may have made up that word). She started having feelings for Xander and she was all awkard and weird...but then she kind of grew on me and her awkwardness is so funny! And now I love her.

May I add I have watched like almost 6 seasons within a few weeks..haha.

Anya is my def. my fav character.

Cordelia becomes a lot more likeable in Angel. Love her interaction with Angel, Wes and Gunn. Watched the episode where Angel buys her clothes today and both of there reactions are hilarious :biggrin3:

I loved her as a b****. 🙂 She's also amazing on Angel though. 😀

Um, when I first watched, I never really cared about Cordelia or Darla. But now they're my favorites. Same for Lindsey and Lilah. I LOVE them all so much now. :biggrin3:

Hating someone takes too much work, or I'm just plain too lazy to bother. Most likely a combination of the two. However, my respect for Giles has declined steadily ever since he left Buffy on her own in Season 6, to the point that now I wouldn't trust him out of my sight if I were Buffy. I used to be somewhat contemptuous of Angel, but my respect for him increased once I began to regularly watch his own series (He's still far too full of himself and spends far too much time minding other people's business when he should be tending to his own, in my opinion, but I guess that's just his Byronic flaw)

Despite what I have been accused of, I DON'T "love" Spike, I just think that he's by far the most interesting character on the show.

Plus Angel saved a puppy...how can you hate a guy who's done that? ;-)
Willow - was my favorite character for a time, and although i still like her a lot, the love definitely dwindled from season 6 on.

Cordy - didn't like her at first, but i mean you're not supposed to like the bitchy girl that's mean to the title character. 😉 But she really changed and grew into such a likable character. Now I love her, obvs.

Darla - didn't like her at all in season 1, but i mean who would? I think it was brilliant to bring her back in Angel, they really did so much with her character. She became very likable toward the end, and of course i highly respect her for sacrificing herself for her child.

Oz - Didn't care about him at all at first, but now I think he's super funny and totally adorable. 🙂

Fred- I found her quite adorable in season 3 when she was all innocent and kinda crazy. But then, she annoyed the heck out of me in season 4! But now i'm watching season 5 and I'm beginning to really like her again. 🙂

Dawn - Couldn't stand her when she was introduced in season 5. And then... no wait, I still didn't like her by season 7. 😛

Yeah, you just GOTTA love those puppy savers!

Cordy: the same as everyone else says pretty much. Loved her then they messed up her character. Don't hate her but wasn't sad to see the back of her.

Riley: hated him with a fiery passion to begin with - now I like they guy

Forrest: same deal, couldn't stand him, thought he was whiny and annoying. Way too into the "bro-code". But now I like him.

Joyce: Was kind of annoyed with her in the first seasons, but that might've been cause I was a teen myself 😛 Now, major Joyce love.

Glory: I liked her the first time around. Now I can't stand to hear her voice or see her lopsided ass parade around in her godly heels.

For me I would have to say Cordilia and Harmony both. I hated them in the begining. But I loved Cordy by the end of season 1...I didnt really like Harmony untill she was on Angel though.

Faith....I loved her at first then I hated her but then when I understud her I totally loved her again.

Cordelia: Hated her in Buffy (I didn't mind her when she dated Xander) - Loved her in Angel, season one to season two, and Your Welcome - I don't really like her in season 3. She makes some stupid decisions.

Only Connor really. I was not a fan of early Connor, but after the brain-reboot, I thought he became a worthwhile guy.

Yeah, the ONLY time I can stand to even think about Connor is season 5 Connor, after the brain reboot.
Ooooh nice idea of a thread! Where to start...

Well the main character that come to mind is Angel. At worse I disliked him on BtVS, at best he was just boring. Once I decided myself to watch his own series(took a while because of exactly what i'm talking about) it all changed though. He finally had more substance... showed a really different(and funny side)part of him which I LOVED. And it just got better over the seasons. So without a doubt, Angel is the most important character for me that went from almost hated to loved.

Outside of that... No characters had such a drastic change for me, but a few I didn't like got more interesting, so much as I like them now. Gunn for example, was pretty boring at start and I was wondering if I could ever feel anything for him. For me it started in 'That Old Gang of Mine' and from there he was pretty interesting. I particulary liked his storyline in the last season.

Aside of that for AtS, I could only mention Cordy... but I didn't hate or dislike her in BtVS. Just didn't have much interest in the character. But in Angel she's AWESOME, my fav character after Lorne. Kinda like Wes(but to a lesser extent) she progressed through the seasons(at least the first three for her), and she was the best friend Angel could ever have.

On BtVS, Anya, Spike and Andrew, I actually didn't like any of them much when they first appeared and did a few episodes, but as the time went, Anya grew on me, Spike became hilariously good(so much i'm ashamed to put his name on this list haha) and Andrew was funny and a good addition to the Scoobies in s7.

That's pretty much it.

I couldn't stand Dawn in seasons five and six but began to like her in season seven as we see she is obviously growing up.

I liked Amy in early episodes but didn't like the bad influence she had on Willow in season six.

I may be one of the few who has loved Willow from the beginning and loved her even more after season six.

I totally agree. In the early seasons of the show I always hoped she'd become a permanent member of The Scoobies, but when she got deratted and then turned into a total junkie with a black heart, I was sad and suddenly found myself wishing I'd never see her again. Bluh...

Also, someone mentioned Forrest. You know, the first time I watched the show I felt sorry for Forrest at first, 'cause all of a sudden his best friend was being "stolen" by a new girlfriend and I understood his "bros before hoes" attitude. But the more I watch his character now the more I hate him.

There's no way that pre-rat and post-rat Amy are the same person. I think another soul must have been pulled from the ether when Willow de-ratted Amy because she had a completely different personality.

I don't know about that. I mean, we saw Amy already starting to abuse the magicks in Bothered, Bewitched & Bewildered. Who knows what else she was doing outside of the high school?

Coupled with the fact she spent over three years living in a cage as a rat, I can see why she got a bit more bitchier, lol.

But, I don't like her either. She got real annoying, real fast 😛

I could buy her abuse of magic in "Smashed", but not her suddenly becoming a magic junkie.

I totally can, I mean she's spent years as a rat - lost years of her life has no real connections to life anymore one can imagine - how do you get over that?
It's too easy to slip into addictions really, I can see her doing it even without the fact that she was probably still mentally a teenager after he de-ratting.
