They had predicted that it would drop 15%, but that didn't happen, hopefully in July it'll be a bigger drop.
 
On the food delivery thing , yeah been doing it since 2014 . It's changed my life 😀 . Bigtime !

I'm too far from a store to even buy frozen food for storage . Now a bloke( occasionally a lady) turns up once a week with a portable freezer and fridge in his truck 😛.

My electric is still triple what it should be but going down . I'll be glad when it's just double 🙂 .
 
My electricity is still low, but that is only because they overcharged me - a lot - and I have been going through the positive balance. That is nearly used up now.

Yeah, I've using up my credit too, but can only eek another month or two from it now. I'll have to see how much it'll be come May.
 
My gas & electric would be pretty cheap if it wasn't for all the fees from multiple companies 😒

I'd really like one of those work from home jobs. I'm finding a lot of the migraine hypersensitivities I had from SSRIs are fading now, so I could spend longer in front of a laptop or on a phone.

I just want to make a bit of a buffer to put my mind at ease. I never want to drop to previous levels of poverty again.
 
Petrol has gone up again, one pence a litre since last Friday. I know it is only one pence, but this is happening too often.

On the plus side, yours tends to be way cheaper than ours!

The current price of petrol in the UK looks to work out at US$6.76 for a US liquid gallon.

Sheesh! At least you have pretty good public transport
@Plasma I am quite badly placed for buses and the places I go, though. The supermarket takes under 10 minutes to get to by car and is only a few miles away. By bus, it takes about 40 minutes, including ten minutes of walking, changing buses once and costs more than the petrol would to get there!
 
Yeah, sorry @Plasma but good public transport only exists in the cities! I don't remember the last time I took a bus, they do keep changing the times and routes. I don't think they run after about 6pm now either.

I am considering taking the train next month though, so will have to look at options to get to the train station.
 
I live in a city - just, by under a mile - but given how the buses are set up around here, most of them go into the city and out of the city. Where I usually go is across those lines of movement. So, to do that, I have to travel in, then back out.

From museums I have visited, it was better before the introduction of the bus and car. Trolleybus and tram networks ruled. And now, having got rid of them all, they are coming back again.
 
Public transport in the USA is a mixed bag at best. Some cities have a decent setup (NYC, Boston, DC). Others tend to be non-existent or minimal. For example, Austin's isn't too bad IF you live in the square of I-35, 183, the river, and Mopac. If you're outside that square it drops severely in quality.
 
I read that companies are starting to notice that consumers are changing their shopping habits by buying store brands, buying less, or shopping at discount stores. As a result, companies are slowing price increases. About time! I noticed today that the bargain-brand lunch meat, whose price increased 50 cents a couple weeks ago, went back down again. I hope that spreads to other products.

It’s almost like overpricing products makes them somehow “undesirable” to people…go figure!
It Really sucked when people went straight to cheap brands who didnt usually buy home/cheap brands because they were continuously sold out, so the people who could only afford homebrands, just didn't have the option anymore. Its levelled out now but it was devastating at first. Im really glad I can get delivery now, partly because I dont have to see the rage and anger in the shops when the cheap frozen peas and chips are out of stock.

Its bloody annoying to watch the big corporations throw off the waste issue onto the consumer. We used to get plastic bags to carry our food for free. In turn, we used those plastic bags as bin liners for waste. Then there was a push to ban plastic bags... Now we have to purchase paper bags (no other option for delivery) and we have to purchase plastic bags for bin liners. It doesn't seem like much money to some, but it adds up!

Its not a hidden cost, its in plain sight. And now we have people pushing to ban plastic vegetable bags too! They keep produce fresher for longer, so if we ban all of the packaging, we're gona have even more costs with expired produce!

Then they say oh buy frozen... Which costs the most to store at home! When there are ads on tv telling us to constantly reduce power use. And is still wrapped in plastic. Ugh. I hate people sometimes they're all about the planet but not about the people who live on it. The ones who can afford to make changes dont. I am not even going to try anymore. Some days I even want to buy disposable plates like I see American tv families do to reduce my washing of dishes everyday. But they cost too much 😂. I miss plastic straws 😭

I got given packs of paper bowls and plates as a joke Christmas present, it's brilliant for feeding the cat, no more scrubbing his bowls, I just feed his wet food in a paper bowl and throw it away afterwards.

Just had my delivery, and food is really not coming down in price. I still need to go to aldi yet, but no idea how what I got will last the month.
 
Fresh fruit, at least, is getting back down there in price, in Morrisons, anyway, with multibuy offers around again and individual fruit being better priced.

It depends on how much you use them (as far as how “worth it” they are.)

I use maybe 1-2 plates a day for breakfast and dinner if I get hungry later. I bought this big bulk pack well over a year or two ago from a bulk store and it’s been great. I think it had like 200-300 in the thing

If you have a Sam’s Club or CostCo type deal, that’s where I’d look if you want them. Don’t buy them at grocery stores. Ridiculously expensive for how many are in there. Price is way better at bulk stores
