I needed olive oil. Over £7 for a litre of the cheapest I could find, not even extra virgin olive oil.

Just thankful I don't use a lot of it and that bottle will last all year.

Apparently, a tablespoon of olive oil a day is good for your health.

Though you may wish to add it to food, rather than eat it by the tablespoon.

Sounds expensive! I'll be using it to make hummus instead.
 
Still haven't had the letter informing me how much the council tax will now be.

I'm working extra this month, so that will cover the extra rent costs, and then pay goes up in April so that will even out the rent for the rest.
 
Its the best time of year for cheap eats for me. Lots of fruit around, easy to eat salads and leaves. I never used to buy dressings and sauces but I have been doing it more this year because its easier than making them!

Gotta get some dishwasher tablets. Using the cheap crappy powder has gunked it all up. I want to get a benchtop dishwasher at some stage but thats a way off as a want, not a need.

I've been mending the holes in my older t-shirts. The two new shirts I got are so thin they are practically see-through. So I am embroidering little stars and flowers on all the holes in my old shirts and pants. I gotta find a material that works for me, something not sweaty that doesnt rip in the garden!

I also need to get a better garden hat, something wide brimmed as my neck and shoulders keep getting burnt. Need the cap for walkies but a wide brim would blow off. My akubra is just too hot and heavy.
 
I have just got a letter saying that electricity costs are going down. It is nice to have confirmation; I just wish they were going down more.

I got a notice saying our electricity costs were going up; wish it was going the other direction!

Apparently, we are getting fewer chips in the same-sized bag.

My Dairy Milk bars are now only 75-80% of the weight they used to be.

I think our electricity price drop is government/regulator mandated.
 
Coles have shrunk the delivery bags. I was using them as bunny litter liners. Now I will need to use two! Of course they havent cut the price. Pretty ballsy of them considering they are under investigation for price gouging. I guess they know there will be no consequences.

Post office bill is due for payment this month. A few bills coming up but I have enough saved to cover them all, no worries.

This is the new way for companies to practice "shrinkflation". Put less product in the same size packaging for a while. They you can announce your new cost/resource friendly packaging.
 
The cost of my electricity may be dropping, but I have finally gone through all the money they owe me, which means my monthly cost is going up. By about £20.
 
I might try to use the bus more often, the current £2 for a single fare is cheaper than diesel and parking. However I am limited by the times, and it does take double the amount of time.
 
Pre-prepared meals are a LOT cheaper than they used to be! I looked for ready meals and they had a special on youfoodz? I duno if its any good but it was cheaper than cooking from scratch on special. So I have a grocery order full of them to give it a go this week.
 
Forget what I said about public transport , I just took a standing room only train with a bunch of men going to the Cheltenham races. I couldn't move or breathe! Couldn't wait to get off and get some semi fresh air!
 
I used to hate public transport and its been a long time since I used it for more than the odd one off journey. But I had to use it for about a month recently, and considering how much everything else has increased in price I was really impressed by the value, frequency and efficiency.
And with google maps everything is so easy. You just put in your destination and it gives you the times of every different permutation of trams, trains, buses, walking etc

I normally get the grab bag size for crisps but I got a standard size the other day and it is like holding a bag of air !
And it wont be long before standard chocolate bars are all fun sized 🙁
 
gas prices are definitely going up here as well...thankfully my job is only a 10 minute walk away from home

Perk of working on a Saturday, the guy who owns the organic shop brings me pastries at the end of the day, as he closes before me and he doesn't open Sundays so he gives away the ones leftover. Today he gave me a cinnamon roll, and an almond croissant. Obviously some weeks he sells out, but free food otherwise. Free expensive food too!
 
I hate when the grocery store stops selling the large size, and raises the price of the smaller size to boot, which is already more costly by weight. They've done this with a number of staples that I buy, yogurt being the latest instance.
