Destiny- The life of Dawn Summers

Dawn stood over Anna's desk. She was scrummaging through her personal notes and files. Since she'd found nothing, she switched on the computer to see if she could find anything. It had been really hard to find a way inside the office. Since the center was closed and the doors were locked, Dawn had to open the window with a screw driver she'd purchased at the tool shop up the road. It shocked her to think that she had actually broken into a place; it wasn't like she'd never done anything wrong "“ she used to steal all the time, but this was a lot bigger than any of that. She kept thinking to herself that she'd be sent to jail if she got caught.
Dawn clicked on a folder named "˜Anna.' This looks promising, she thought. She couldn't find anything except for invoices and a few songs by the Black Eyed Peas. Dawn then clicked on Anna's emails. If there was to be anything suss going on, maybe Anna would have something weird in an email. All Dawn could find were a few emails from what sounded like an ex-boyfriend. He was obviously a pain in the ass as there were so many messages begging Anna to get back together with him.
"It's a start," she said aloud, "maybe he's gonna do something about being rejected."
Suddenly, from the other room, flew a ball of light blue energy, slamming right into the computer and knocking it off the desk.
Dawn jumped, startled. She looked across to where it had come from. Right there stood a woman she'd met a few times "“ but she'd heard bad things about her from Willow. It was Amy Maddison.
"Amy?!" she yelled, "What are you doing here?"
Amy just chuckled and raised an eyebrow. "Dawn it's called "“ Maddison Spiritual Service, I own it."
"Oh," began Dawn, "well your receptionist is in trouble, she's going to die!"
Amy laughed again. "So you're the girl from today?" she asked, "heard there was quite a scene."
"Yeah, she didn't believe me. You have to help me save her Amy. I can't do it alone."
Amy rolled her eyes. They began to turn black, like Dawn had seen Willow's turn when Tara had been killed.
"I don't doubt that," began Amy, "it's not like you could do anything anyway."
Dawn began to speak, "but Amy I"¦" but she was cut off. Although Dawn wanted to continue talking, she couldn't. Nothing she was saying was coming out. It was like someone had turned her on mute. Then she looked at Amy staring at her with black eyes. "Be silent." she said, obviously she'd magickally muted Dawn.
Amy was getting angry, "You don't just come and break into somebody's place of employment."
Dawn struggled to speak, but couldn't.
"Don't try talking," began Amy, "it'll make your throat hurt."
Dawn still tried talking again, and began to get a sharp pain in the throat. She clutched at it, breathing heavily.
"As I was saying," muttered Amy, "I don't like any of you scoobies, and I can't think of a better way of getting at your sister then hurting her beloved "˜Dawnie'." She stepped closer to Dawn. They were now only a few metres apart.
Amy raised an arm. "Sorry," she began, "Inpiunte!" she yelled, eyes completely black now. A flash of energy shot out from Amy, heading straight for Dawn, very quickly.
Just before Dawn was devoured by the energy, it stopped, time stopped. A force field formed around Dawn and another woman. She was facing the other way, so Dawn wasn't exactly sure who she way. She wore grey jeans and a Gucci shirt. Dawn noticed the brand new Manolo Blahniks she wore, they were gorgeous.
The woman turned around, her shoulder length hair bounced around like she was starring in a shampoo commercial.
"Hey Dawn," she began, "you look"¦" she looked Dawn up and down, "freaking great!"
Dawn couldn't believe her eyes, firstly because she was just saved and secondly because Cordelia Chase had been her saviour. Cordelia was the woman who'd manifested in Dawn's motel room. She was an old friend of Buffy's and she and Dawn had always gotten along okay. A few years back she left Sunnydale to work with Angel, since then she'd died.
"Cordelia!" she yelled, stunned. "What just happened? How did you do that?"
Cordelia winked and smiled, "neat huh?" she asked.
Dawn just stared, "Yeah in the way that it totally saved my life! What is going on?!" she asked, clueless.
"Hey sweetie slow down," Cordelia began, "It's ok. And did I hear a "˜thank you'?" she asked, half joking.
Dawn took a deep breath, relaxing a little. "Thanks, really."
Cordelia began to talk again, "Dawn, I know what it seems like, but your visions are going to work out, your heading the right way."
"You know what just occurred to me," Dawn began, "You're dead. How are even here if you're dead?" she asked.
Cordelia smiled softly, "Honey when is dead ever really dead in this world? I'm dead but I'm still here. The powers chose me as your guide, for your visions."
"How do you or they even know about my visions?" Dawn asked.
Cordelia raised an eyebrow, "Dawn the visions come from the Powers That Be, you're supposed to help people with them."
Dawn put her hands on her hips, "Yeah," she began, "getting that now. But why you, how do you know about the visions?"
Cordelia giggled, "Dawnie honey, I gave "˜em to you."
Dawn's mouth dropped, this was all too much for her. "You what?" she asked.
"I passed them on to you, I used to have the visions." stated Cordy.
"Oh well thanks a lot!" Dawn said angrily, "These visions have turned my life upside down "“ ALREADY!"
"Dawn," Cordelia began, "You're the one who's destined to have them, I was just a carrier while you were getting ready for them I guess. You have all this power inside you, haven't you ever wondered what you're supposed to do with it?"
"I'm supposed to control demons," Dawn began, "And it's not like my powers even work."
Cordelia was a little annoyed by this comment. "Controlling demons isn't what you're supposed to do, what did you think, you'd use them as servants around the pool?" she asked sarcastically.
Dawn pictured the thought for a moment and giggled. "No," she began, "I guess I thought I'd use it in fights."
"Well consider the visions as a cause for you to fight." said Cordy, now smiling.
Dawn liked the thought of her being able to save people, but then something occurred to her. "I can't use them anyway, Buffy was right "“ my power controls me."
Cordy got a little annoyed by what Dawn was saying. "Well isn't that a Buffy thing to say." she said. "No offense honey, Buffy's a sweet girl, but Dawn, she wasn't right. I know she's your sister but you need to live your life now Dawn, it's your life to live "“ not Buffy's. I can promise you, if you take control of your life, your power will come in full."
Dawn looked to the floor, Cordelia was right, she knew it. "I know," she began, "so what's next then? What do I do?"
Cordelia gave a big smile. "Well I think you're ready," she said. Suddenly, Cordy disappeared and the force field protecting Dawn disappeared.
"Cordy!" yelled Dawn, "No!" Suddenly, a force of power flew through Dawn. It felt like every cell in her body was vibrating. Her skin began to glow.
"Stop!" she yelled, watching the energy about to hit her.
Suddenly, the energy closing in on Dawn (which was now only a few inches from her) stopped. Dawn stepped back and pushed out her hand, forcing Amy's power back at her.
âœWow." she said to herself as she still her felt complete power running through her veins, but it wasn't all being used. There was so much power; Dawn wanted to be able to use all of it. Her powers were actually working, what Cordy had said must've been right.
Amy screamed as the energy engulfed her, then it suddenly teleported her away.
Dawn stumbled a little when the power stopped surging through her. "That was cool."
She looked at where Amy had stood, "I'm not gonna have to worry about her anymore," she said aloud, "and if I do, I'll just trap her in a trophy like her mom." Dawn laughed to herself and escaped through her window. At least it was now over, she thought.

Dawn lied in bed. It was impossible to sleep. The noise outside was too loud. She still couldn't believe the events that had happened earlier. Although she'd stopped using her powers hours ago, the buzz of their presence still went through her. She sat up in her bed, and then put her slippers on. She walked across to get a glass of water. As she stood, she watched the water slowly fill the glass. Everything was a bit of a daze for Dawn.
She drank down her water and walked back across to the bed. She looked at her bed, it was a mess. The room stank of garlic, she was getting used to the smell though. In a big leap from the door, Dawn was able to land on the bed. She lied on her side, where she could see right outside. The lights were bright and the city was buzzing. It was all pretty. Bit by bit, she began to close her eyes.
The city was slowly drifting away from her; the noise of the traffic and people outside no longer meant anything. She just felt herself drifting away into a deep sleep. She'd never felt so relaxed before. Just before she'd made it to sleep, everything began to come rushing back, the city was again buzzing and she could feel it. Again, she felt juiced, but this time differently to before.
"Wow." She said aloud. The power was very intense, her stomach began churning and twisting. A strange sensation began in her head, and before she knew it, her body was pulsating. She began to have a vision. The ache in her head wasn't as bad as the previous times, but she felt totally uncontrollable while having visions, which scared her a little. Again, she saw Anna. Something wasn't right, this was the third vision Dawn had had featuring Anna. Not only was Dawn completely clueless as to why, but she thought that she'd defeated any threat to Anna when she'd defeated Amy. Dawn sat up and rubbed her head, confused. "What is going on here?" she whispered to herself. There was no way she knew what to do next, but she knew someone who might. Although she didn't know if just yelling Cordelia's name would actually make her come, she tried it anyway.
"Cordy!" she yelled, but Cordelia was nowhere to be seen.
"Cordelia where are you I need help!" she yelled, now getting dressed. Suddenly, a purple cloud appeared, and from it, came Cordelia. She was wearing a pink robe, and looked like she'd been asleep. With a yawn and a stretch, she waved at Dawn.
"Hey," she began, "what is it?"
Dawn pulled on a blue sweater. "I have these visions thanks to you, and I can't even solve them. I had another vision, just now, about Anna. It's not over Cordy. Do you have any idea what's going on? I sure as hell don't"
Cordelia stood still, in deep thought. She shook her head. "Sorry Dawn," she began, "I'm a helper not a messenger, I have no idea what's happening."
Dawn rolled her eyes and shrugged, "Well then I guess it's lucky that you're my helper."
Cordelia gave a fake smile and put her hands on her hips. "No one does sarcasm better than you Dawn," she said with a smirk. "I'm going to help you though, however I can."
Dawn smiled at Cordelia. She had been a little harsh. She remembered how Cordelia used to be when she and Buffy went to high school together. The woman she was now and the woman she was then were like two totally different people to Dawn. Cordelia used to be a real bitch. Dawn remembered what Buffy used to say about her. When Dawn was fourteen, Cordelia left Sunnydale, and moved to Los Angeles. Apparently her parents had lost all of their money through tax fraud, and Cordelia needed a new start. She had wanted to become an actress, but her destiny changed when she met Angel in L.A. She began to work for his business in helping the helpless, Angel Investigations. Cordelia really only wanted some quick cash at first. As time went on, Cordelia acquired the "˜visions' when the previous carrier of them (Doyle) died. Cordelia began to fight evil with all her heart in the job as her visions continued, and became a core member of Angel's team. Her relationship with Angel also strengthened, and the two fell in love. On the night they were supposed to meet up and express their feelings, Cordelia was taken from our world, and became a higher power. It was said that her time fighting evil and having visions had given her the credentials to become a divine being on a higher plane. For months Cordelia resided in a higher plane, unable to come back to earth, while her friends searched for her. Mysteriously, she returned to earth one day and turned up in the lobby of the Hyperion hotel. She had lost all memory. After a few trials, Angel and his team were able to bring back Cordelia's memories, but at a price "“ she no longer wanted to be with Angel. Cordelia began to live with Connor, Angel's eighteen year old son. On the night that the world almost ended, they made love. A wedge had been driven between Cordelia and everyone else throughout the whole year. Eventually, it was found out that ever since she'd come back from the higher plane, Cordelia had not been herself; she'd been taken over by a former power, wanting to reign again, known as Jasmine. Jasmine had manipulated Connor into thinking Cordelia loved him. She gave birth to herself from Cordelia's body, using up her body's energy and leaving the real Cordelia left in a coma. After a big battle, Jasmine was eventually defeated. Some time later, when Angel, Wesley, Gunn, Fred and Lorne were running Wolfram and Hart, Cordelia woke up. She was annoyed to see how far off his champion road Angel had gone. After setting him back on track, and defeating a past enemy, Cordelia told Angel what had really happened to her. She had never really woken from her coma, but the Powers That Be owed her something, and she used that something to come back to earth and set the man she loved back on track. Ever since then, Cordelia hadn't been seen or heard of "“ except by Angel who'd claimed to have seen her in heaven. Now, after never really being close to her, Cordelia had become Dawn's guide.
"Cordelia," began Dawn, "what's it like in heaven?"
Cordelia stopped and took a deep breath. "Well, it's nice. There are big stone castles and fields full of flowers. The creeks are filled with fish and"¦ and-" Cordelia stopped talking, and looked to the floor. She sighed.
"What is it?" asked Dawn.
Cordelia had a lot of pain in her facial expression, Dawn could see it. "It's nothing Dawn." she replied.
Dawn wasn't buying it for a second. "You're upset," she began, "because of what happened to you?"
Cordelia looked up at Dawn with a solemn face. "Yeah." she replied, looking back down again.
"I'm sorry," Dawn began, "but"¦" Dawn was lost for words, what could she say in this situation? Cordelia's life had been robbed from her.
Cordelia smiled softly, "It's okay Dawn, you don't have to..."
Dawn smiled back "Cordelia what actually happened to you? I heard you were possessed but"¦"
"That about covers it. A higher power took over my body and used me to do its dirty work." Cordelia stopped for a moment. "I think I was being punished."
Dawn felt Cordelia's hurt as she said this. "Punished for what?" she asked.
"For everything I did," began Cordelia, "everyone I was ever mean to. I had money back then and I thought that meant everything, I didn't care about anyone but myself."
Dawn walked over to Cordelia. "No"¦" she began. "I can see it, I know what kind of person you were, but I know what kind of person you became too. You became a beautiful woman, inside and out. I know how much you care about people. You took on the visions for the sake of the world, even when they almost killed you. You became part demon for the same cause. Cordelia you were never being punished, what happened to you couldn't of just happened to anyone who'd ever bullied someone else in high school. Jasmine chose you because of the strength inside you. Cordelia the Powers saw you fit to be my guide, and put Angel back on track. You should be proud Cordy"¦ because I am and it doesn't take my super powers for that" Dawn smiled gently and put her arms out to hug Cordelia. Cordelia went into them, she was now crying. No one had ever summed her up to be so good before. What Dawn had said was true, and Cordy had finally realised it.

Hey Guys...
I'm sorry it took so long I'm still really busy with work and all but I will try as hard as i can to get more of the story done. Thanks for still being keen on it.

Angel's vision
well put, i liked it!
Gotta admit I was getting bored reading the Cordy this is your life review but when Dawn said what she said...fan-frickn-tastic!!!!!
No one in a fic (that I know of) or the show ever dealt with "how" Cordelia died and how she felt about it.
Well done.

thanks. This means a lot. I had always noticed the same thing and having someone else agrees makes me happy.
"Okay Dawn," began Cordy, standing up and putting the book on prophecies she was holding down, "we've tried nearly everything. "I'm going to have to ask something else of you, it might be a little painful but we're really at a dead end"¦"
Dawn looked at Cordelia with a blank look, waiting for what was next. "Yeah"¦"
"I need you to look back into your vision." Cordelia stated.
"As in just look?" asked Dawn.
"Yeah, but you'll need to concentrate." said Cordy.
Dawn closed her eyes and sat very still. "Here goes," she said.
In her mind, she slowly began to rewind through the vision again, then she paused. It felt like she was actually in Anna's apartment now. Everything was twirling around.
"Okay Dawnie," began Cordelia, as if she could see what was happening in Dawn's mind, "now focus on making it stop and getting the connection established."
With these words, Dawn tried really hard, and the place stopped spinning. She was able to walk around and see things; it was like she was there, but not physically, astrally.
"I'm here" Dawn said aloud, "I'm in her apartment."
"Good Dawn," began Cordy, "now don't lose your hold. What can you see in her apartment?" she asked.
Dawn looked around. "Well it's nice," she began, "kinda stuffy though."
Cordelia rolled her eyes. "Dawnie, I mean anything that might help us with your vision."
"Oh, right" began Dawn as she realised, "umm"¦ there's a shrine looking thing, in the corner. It looks like they're sacrificing someone. There are lit candles around it and right in the middle there's a picture of"¦ herself" Dawn paused.
"Okay good work Dawn, anything else?" asked Cordy, impatiently.
"Um yeah"¦ I don't know how much this means but it smells weird"¦ like Sunnydale weird." Dawn stated.
"Ok, smells weird." said Cordy.
"Yeah, like a lot." said Dawn. "I'm coming back now," she began, "I can't grip it any longer."
Dawn opened her eyes and she was back in her motel room. Cordelia sat in front of her with a smile from ear to ear. "You did it Dawnie!" she yelled.
"Well I guess I need to head over there," stated Dawn, "you ready?" she asked.
Cordelia looked at the fuzzy night gown she was wearing. "Um, not so much." She commented. "Look I kinda gotta be somewhere now, but I'll catch up with you later ok? Don't do anything silly."
Dawn put her hands on her hips, "Like I would."
Cordelia just smiled back. She was surprised how well Dawn was dealing with the visions. She had taken quite a while to get acclimatised to them when she'd first got them from Doyle.
"So where do you have to be anyway?" asked Dawn, curiously "got a date?" she asked jokingly.
"Oh, it's PTB stuff, if I told you"¦"
"You'd have to kill Me." said Dawn, finishing Cordy's sentence "Right, I get it."
The two girls laughed and then Dawn left the room, closing the door gently behind her. Cordelia faded away, back into nothing "“ she did have somewhere to be.

******

Cordelia's nerves were making her a little sick. She didn't know why. She'd been to the Hyperion Hotel many times before, and it wasn't the first time she'd seen Angel since she'd died. The powers had let her come back to earth, to help Dawn, but she'd decided to visit Angel now. She couldn't see any harm in visiting the man she loved. Looking down on the lobby from the second floor, she could see somebody new behind the desk, probably the new receptionist. A few years back, this had been Cordy's job. She had taken care of the business side of Angel Investigations, as well as being the vision girl. The Hotel brought back memories. Cordelia remembered the times when she'd worked with Angel, Wesley, Gunn, Fred and Lorne, Helping the helpless.
Angel was nowhere to be seen now. She knew that at least he and Gunn still worked here. Wesley and Fred had both died and Lorne didn't live in L.A. anymore. Cordy crept down the stairs. There were at least five vampire slayers standing around near the basement access. Buffy had left them to work in Los Angeles with Angel after they'd defeated the Senior Partners. She looked into what was Angel's office, but then became Wesley's. Gunn was sitting behind the desk. He was wearing a red Ecko hoodie and some black baggy jeans. This was just how Cordy had remembered him from the old days "“ before Wolfram and Hart. He also had his head cleanly shaved again. It made her smile to think of how long ago they'd met. Still though, Angel was nowhere to be seen. Cordelia couldn't be seen if she wanted to be unseen, so she went into invisible mode and walked downstairs, into the lobby. Out the back, she could see someone else she knew, in the courtyard. It was Connor. He was speaking to what seemed to be another slayer. Cordelia had always loved Connor as Angel's son, but when she was taken over by Jasmine and slept with him "“ things had become weird. She could see he was safe and doing well, so she thought it best to avoid him. The last place Angel could have been was in his room, so Cordy decided to look.
She made her way up the flight of stairs, experiencing de-ja vu as she did. She walked down the corridor, to room 217. She was sure he'd still be living in the same room; he wasn't that good with dealing with change. She stood outside the door. And took a deep breathe.
"Hey Angel, long time no see." she said to herself, practicing what to say. The last time they'd met had been in eaven. She decided to just let things run smoothly and come from the heart. She didn't want to have everything planned out beforehand. She put forward her hand to open the door, but it opened from the other side before she could turn the handle. In front of her, stood Angel on the phone, but he hadn't looked up at her yet.
"Ok Buffy, I love you too. Bye."

I'm shattered!!! just like all Cangel lovers. but wait...

Oh Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go BANGEL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL bangel has got it going on!!! haha nah I think i might turn it to bucangel lol I dno???
One question... was Cordy still in her robe and PJ's when she went to see Angel? lol.
I like your writing style. The background story commentary thru Cordy was "comfortable" to read not awkward or boring. This fic is becoming more interesting, looking forward to more.

Thanks for the nice comments. Lol maybe she was in the robe ;) haha. No, really i guess she changed.
Guys, I'm sorry that this bit is so short. God it took me a long time to write, it was so hard lol!!! I wanted it to work tho (HOPE IT DID), especially being the Cangel fan I am... Anyway more soon.
Eunsoma
p.s. please guys don't be afraid to tell me what you think, good or bad. I want feedback so that I can improve the story and my writing, so don't keep your thoughts and questions in, post whatever you'd like to.

Closing the door, Angel looked up to see Cordelia right in front of him. He knew he'd been busted.
"Cordelia, what are you doing here?" he asked quickly.
Cordelia didn't reply yet, she was a little hurt by catching him on the phone telling Buffy that he loved her, but she could understand him needing to move on after she'd died. She just stared at the phone in his hand.
Angel put the phone in his pocket, breaking her stare. "That was uh.."
"Buffy" interrupted Cordelia, finishing Angel's sentence.
Angel smiled softly, "Yeah" he said, there was no use lying about it, it's not like he and Cordelia could be together now, they both knew it.
"Getting back to you being here." said Angel, changing the subject. "What's going on?" he asked. No matter what was happening, he was glad to see Cordelia again. He had missed her so much in the last year. A big smile overtook his often dreary face.
"You're getting good at changing the subject aren't ya" she asked jokingly. "No really, relax," she began, "I'm here on visiting terms only." Cordy said nodding her head.
Angel laughed a little. "Really?" he asked "how's that work?".
"Yeah really, I had the opportunity so I decided to come see you." she said, smiling ear to ear.
Before Angel could reply, the smile on her face became cheeky. "So Buffy huh?" she asked joyfully. She was acting as if she didn't care much, although aching on the inside.
Angel smirked. "Yeah, but not like that. It's still early days so far. She wanted to know if Dawn was here, apparently she's done a runner and last time she did that she came here."
Cordelia's smile went away. She didn't know whether to tell Angel the truth or not. If she was to tell him of Dawn's whereabouts then she knew it'd defiantly get back to Buffy and Buffy would force Dawn to go back to Rome with her. Either that, or there'd be a big fight between them. She decided to just play it cool and keep it to herself.
"Wow," she began, "that's no good, sounds like the girl needs a leash."
"Tell me about it," began Angel, rolling his eyes "and Buffy's got Willow and Xander looking for her too."
Cordelia disregarded the topic and just gave a blank smile.
Angel looked back at her and smiled too, then he hugged her; it hadn't occurred to either of them that they hadn't hugged yet. Angel held her tight. He never wanted to let her go again after what had happened to her. After she'd died, he'd lost a part of himself, and he thought that that was made final at her funeral. To see her in front of him and alive again was an extraordinary gift. The two separated from the hug a little, but stood in front of each other still, looking into each others eyes in a daze. Slowly, they moved together, as if there was an undeniable force gripping each of them that wouldn't be satisfied "˜til they were back in each others arms. Their lips were getting closer and closer, the inevitable was coming, and it looked like it couldn't be stopped.
Angel was backing Cordy onto the wall, when he made the final move and kissed her. Cordy was so happy to be back with the man she loved, she didn't want to part, but a thought itched at her. Angel wasn't hers anymore, she knew that what she was doing was selfish, she couldn't just come back into his life when she pleased and mess it all up again with her lips, that was something Buffy did. Suddenly, she pulled away, and put her finger over his lips, pushing him away a little.
Angel was disappointed, but more in himself than at her. If it was going to work between him and Buffy, he couldn't be kissing Cordelia.
"I'm sorry," began Cordelia, "this isn't right, you're with Buffy now." she said, looking into his eyes. She didn't want to pitty herself and be upset, she knew that if she was still alive, she and Angel might be together, but that was never going to happen, so she didn't mind as much anymore if they weren't together.
Angel leant forward again to hug her and they shared a long embrace.
"Angel," Cordelia began, "I have to go."
"Now?" Angel asked, argumentatively, "You just got here."
Cordelia smiled. "I know," she began, 'm sorry, but I think it's better if we aren't together" she said with a chuckle, "and I have a job to do."
"When am I gonna see you again?" asked Angel.
"You will." Cordelia said with a smile.
Again, the pair embraced. With a wave, Cordelia disappeared into a purple cloud.

Had a feeling you were going to write the scene that way. But gotta admit I expected a Cordy rant on Angel. Which upon reflection I'm glad you didn't. Evolve the character or the character becomes boring. Good work.
You know there is a newly made "real boy" where's he at?

E

LOL lets forget about him haha!!! He's off on his own mission now, ill chuck in a mention one day lol.
noooooo! I hate Cangel! But I like that you've still got Buffy and Angel together!

lol they had 2 at least kiss!!! ITS CORDY!!! no really, i left it Bangel for you so dont worry.
Dawn was looking through the peep hole on Anna's door, but it was useless. They were designed to be able to see outside from the inside, not the other way.
"Anna!" yelled Dawn, banging on the window.
Dawn couldn't see her inside, and she was starting to panic that maybe she was too late. Maybe Anna had been sacrificed already. Dawn thought though, if there was a demon sacrifice, she'd be able to sense it with her new powers. In the passed days, Dawn had been able to tell when a demon was near, or if it had been in a certain area.
Dawn rang the doorbell again, but there was no answer.
She looked around. The apartments were realty nice and looked pretty big inside. She scanned the floor, but nothing really jumped at her. She was looking for something to smash the window with. Behind a shrub, she could see a rock. Deciding to use it, she walked over. Dawn struggled to lift it, it was heavy. She moved as quickly as she could once she'd picked it up, trying to avoid being seen. She couldn't believe what had come of her, this was going to be her second break-in in two days, and she hadn't even solved anything yet. She strained a little, and lifted the rock again.
"One." she said to herself, beginning to swing it.
"Two," she counted as she aimed for the window.
"Three!" she heaved as she let the rock go on its way, flying into the window.
Quickly, Dawn ducked; she didn't want to be covered in glass. To her disbelief, there wasn't even a smash. She looked up, to see the rock lying next to the window, and the window intact, completely un-harmed. She'd seen the rock hit the glass, so there was no way it could've missed.
Suddenly, the door swung open, and Anna came storming out, more frustrated then the last time Dawn had seen her.
"Anna!" yelled Dawn, from the courtyard.
Anna walked out a little to see who was speaking to her. When she saw Dawn, she raised the cricket bat she'd obviously brought outside with her.
"Get lost!" she yelled. "I'll hit you!"
Dawn backed away and put up her hand. "Anna! Stop," she began, "I'm here to help you!" she yelled.
Anna closed in on her, "Get lost! You're stalking me! I'm going to call the police!" Anna was obviously more scared than Dawn was of her.
"I'm sorry," Dawn said, "but don't!" she pleaded.
Anna clenched the bat tightly. She didn't want to let her guard down, but she was prepared to wait and see what Dawn was going to say.
A cool thought came into Dawn's mind, so she tried her luck with it. She stared at the bat, with total concentration. It began to wobble and shake. Then it began to sway. It came free from Anna's hand and floated in the air. Dawn was controlling it. She smiled, she was having fun. In a quick movement, she lunged it across the other side of the courtyard.
Anna gazed in amazement, but she didn't seem to be scared.
"Cool." She commented. "If you had of told me you were a witch I might not have gotten so angry."
Dawn's mouth dropped. She was shocked that Anna would say something so strange. "I'm not a witch," she began, "I just have these powers, I'm learning to control them."
Anna just nodded her head, seeming interested, but she continued focusing on the bat, still a little amazed.
"One of my powers is these visions. What I told you at your office was true and I am here again to protect you." Dawn said justly.
Anna continued nodding her head. "You're here to protect me?" she asked a little sarcastically, looking Dawn up and down. She wasn't exactly a strong looking girl.
"Well you can never judge a book by it's"¦" Dawn began.
"Cover!" Anna interrupted, finishing her sentence. "I know. I'm a witch." Anna explained.
"Really?" asked Dawn, with a smile, she had always been interested in witch craft. Willow and Tara always used to talk to her about it back in Sunnydale.
"Yeah," stated Anna, "I wouldn't brag about it though, I'm not really that good at making my spells work and in this day and age being a witch is kinda weird."
Dawn nodded, "Beats getting burned at the stake though." Dawn joked.
Anna chuckled a little. "Do you want to come in?" she asked. "It's cold and if we wake up Mr. Wallas there'll be trouble."
Anna walked over and picked up her bat, then lead Dawn into her apartment. Sprinkled over the floor in front of the door was a red powder.
"Its brick dust." stated Anna, "It doesn't let anyone who wants to harm me through, I guess we'll see if you are here to protect me now hey?."
Dawn just smiled and stepped over it. Dawn sat down in the living room. Anna's apartment was nice. It was really homey, like her Sunnydale home. This wasn't the room Dawn had seen in her vision though.
Anna took a seat on the couch across the coffee table.
"So, what's trying to kill me?" asked Anna, rather bluntly, while looking at her nails.
"I don't know," began Dawn, "but I know that for the PTB to send me a few visions about the same person, it has to be important. At first I thought it was your boss, Amy doing you harm, but it's not."
"She's a bitch," began Anna, "but I don't think she'd try to kill me," she added.
Dawn stood up and looked around. She was looking for anything weird. She looked to the window and remembered the incident with the rock.
"Anna, I threw a rock at that window and it didn't break." she stated, pointing at the window.
Anna smiled. "Material Santorium Spell is what that's called. Neat huh?" she asked.
Dawn nodded her head, "Yeah completely," Dawn said in amazement, "so nothing can be harmed in here?" asked Dawn.
Anna shook her head. "Not so much in here," she began, "it's more of a safety spell, so no-one can break in."
Dawn was amazed, "That sounds like a good idea. You're a big fan of magickal security, the brick dust and the spell."
"Well you can't be to careful, especially in this city." Anna stated. "Getting back to the thing that wants me dead"¦" she said, changing the subject.
"About that," Dawn began, looking around and not noticing anything weird, "Can I have a look around, see if I pick up any bad vibes?" she asked. Dawn really wanted to find the room she'd seen in her vision.
Anna began to blush. "It's messy, come back tomorrow."
Dawn laughed about what she'd just heard. "Anna, if I can't help you there might not be a tomorrow I don't care if it's messy. Get your priorities straight, god!"
Anna stood up, "Dawn, I'm tired and I said no." she said.
Dawn shrugged and didn't listen to Anna, "You'll thank me when you're still alive," she said as she walked down the corridor.
Anna ran up behind her and grabbed her arm. "Dawn," you can't go in there," she said pointing to the door at the end of the corridor, "all my spells and stuff are in there, they're very fragile."
Dawn could sense that there was something in the room Anna didn't want her to see, and she wasn't buying the "˜fragile spells' story for a second. She quickly sped up, and charged to open the door.
She was amazed to see what she saw. In front of her, was a thin looking woman, bound and gagged, she looked like a sacrifice. Her blonde hair was tied in a ponytail and she had what looked like some sort of anointing substance on her face. Tears ran down her cheeks. Next to her was the shrine Dawn had seen in her vision, with a picture of Anna on it. The fact that some sort of sacrifice was going on was obvious. Why would Anna want to sacrifice herself though? Maybe it wasn't Anna doing the sacrificing. Dawn stood still, shocked at what she'd seen. All these thoughts were running through her head. Anna caught up behind her, and saw that Dawn had seen too much. She picked up a lamp and raised it over Dawn's head; she had to kill her now.

Suspense! Good twist so Anna wasn't really the one in trouble you have taken a leaf out of bored's (Al's) book lol.

there may still be a twist yet for u... lol MWAHAHAHAHA
Dawn jumped down to her knees, and scurried across to the hostage woman.
"Are you ok?" she asked, pulling the gag off the woman's face.
"Behind you!" yelled the woman, with a look of complete terror in her eyes.
Dawn spun around as quick as she could, which was probably a bit quicker then a normal human being. Since Dawn had become more powerful she'd noticed a pick up in both her strength and speed.
Coming at her was a ceramic lamp. She held up her arm, and it smashed over her, cutting her forearm. Blood spurted out over the floor. She yelped in pain and then looked to Anna, whose eyes suddenly looked glazed over.
"Why Anna?" she asked, "I want to help you!"
Anna stared back, and picked up what looked like a sacrificial knife. It had something written in a language Dawn didn't recognize on the blade, the handle was gold. Anna did not speak, but began edging towards Dawn.
Dawn picked up the woman off the floor and helped her to stay up. It looked like one of her legs had been broken. Looking at Anna again, it didn't take Dawn long to realise what was going on. She began to speak in a language Dawn had never heard before, but somehow, she could understand it. It was the most amazing thing.
Anna kept saying "I serve through this vessel, and from the blood of the forseen one, I shall be restored."
It was obvious that Anna was possessed. Dawn stood directly in front of her.
"Anna, you don't want to do this. There's a part of you inside there and I know you can fight this!"
Anna, completely disregarded what Dawn had said, instead, she raised her knife ready to strike. As she was about to bring it down her eyes became brown again.
"Dawn," she began, sounding like she was struggling to speak. Dawn knew she couldn't hold on much longer, she was struggling with the demon for control over her body.
"Anna?" Dawn asked, face to face with her, and holding her up.
"Run!" yelled Anna. Just then, she lunged the knife at Dawn, missing her by only a couple of inches. The demon had obviously taken control again. Dawn raised her hand. She was able to make Anna float in the process. Dawn levitated her to the ceiling, and slowly began to walk the limping hostage out, collecting the sacrificial knife on the way. She thought that it may be able to help with research. As she walked out of the apartment, she clicked her fingers, and heard Anna fall to the floor again.

*******

The woman who had been held hostage less than an hour ago now sat in Dawn's room, drinking hot tea. Dawn and Cordelia were talking in the other room.
"Cordy, Anna is possessed by a demon. The powers could have given me a heads up about that!"
Cordelia rolled her eyes. "Dawn honey, the powers aren't really straight forward with their visions, but I think that they were trying to show you what was happening the best way they could. Right now though, we have to save her."
"I know," began Dawn, sighing "right after I bandage up the cut on my arm."
Dawn looked down to her arm, where the wound had been. The funny thing was that it was no longer there. Wounds like that didn't just disappear.
"What cut?" asked Cordelia, observing Dawn's arms, which seemed to be fine.
"I swear I had a cut there before, she broke a lamp over my arm." Dawn said, still staring at her arm. She was shocked.
"Dawn, it's not abnormal for someone like you. You have to start to expect these sorts of things happening. You're the most powerful being one this earth Dawn, of course you are gonna have super"¦"
"Powers," Dawn said, finishing Cordelia's sentence. "I guess so. I guess that explains me being able to understand other languages too."
Dawn took a deep breathe; everything had become a lot to take in nowadays.
"I have a question though," she began, "why couldn't I sense that Anna was a demon?" she asked.
Cordelia had a blank look on her. "I have no idea," she said, "maybe she had some sort of spell cast to cloak it. You said that she had a sanctorium spell around her house; I wouldn't put it passed her to be able to cloak her demon side."
Dawn just shrugged. "Well I gotta give it to this demon," Dawn said, "It's done its homework, but I think now it's time we do some." she said, revealing the sacrificial knife she'd taken.
"What is that?" asked Cordelia, "cause as far as accessorising, I don't have anything that goes with that!" she joked.
Dawn smiled, "This has something to do with the demon. It's the knife the demon was going to use in the sacrifice. I think it's a big clue."
"Cordelia gave the knife another look. "If only Wesley waere, he loved stuff like this." She winced as she said this. Wesley was a very dear friend to her.
"Well I guess we get into research mode then," said Dawn plugging in her lap top.
"Fun." added Cordelia, as she sat down next to Dawn.

Why would Cordelia wince about Wes? Isn't he in heaven with her? Other then that pretty good chapter, good description of events.
