Did Buffy Love Spike?

Um, look, in the episode "First Date", Buffy says to Willow: "Why does everyone in this house think i'm still in love with Spike?" So I figure, she was in love with him during season 6. so I guess the real question is, did she still love him in season 7? and at the end of season 7? Most of us agree she cared about him, and loved him as a friend, and we argue about the "in love" thing. this quote shows that she did love him in season 6. so argue about if she loved him at the end of season 7.

It already shows what MOST of the people think about her love to him and also about the two final lines in Buffy the vampire slayer for Buffy.
But do you guyz know what really gets on my nerves is people saying *she had no feelings for him, she said I love you because she wanted to thank him, but couldn't she use "Thank you"?

I really think it is, I mean he says no you don't, then there is a few moments were they look at each other, I think it's a moment of understanding between them that she is not in love with him, and if she really did love him, she would have said it there, or If the person I truly loved said that back to me, I wouldn't even let them Finnish the sentence. I just think that if she loved him she would not have let him die without correcting him.

No!! If she had turned around and said "Thank you" It would have been the most insensitive retarded thing she has every said. Personally I believe she was thanking him for everything, for all the good he had done, and for closing the Hellmouth with his life, at what better way to do that then to say the thing he most wants to hear, But he showed he had accepted that she didn't love him, and he wanted her to know that!

Its kinda odd how all through season 6 Spike tells Buffy she loves him, and she denies it.

And then when she admits it, he denies its truth.

You have to understand that Spike is an insecure character. He doesn't think she loves him, but that's his insecurity talking. Just because he doesn't believe, doesn't mean its not true.

Yeah the still in love can be used in two ways, It can be evidence that she loved him, but also that she doesn't anymore.

On the other hand if you accept the script evidence of "still in love", wouldn't you have to also accept the evidence of "I love you Spike", from Chosen.

If she loved him in season 6, couldn't she also love him in Chosen?

No-one seems to be disputing Spike loved Buffy so if he says just holding her in his arms was the best night of his life isn't he talking about his love? If Buffy says I was there too, isn't she saying "I also felt that love."

At what point are we going to stop saying the writers of the series don't know what they're talking about when they keep telling us Buffy loved Spike.

She shows all the elements of love, she says that she loves, the writers show us that its actual love BUT she doesn't love him eh?

Personally I think this topic is getting past the point of ridiculus because people are ignoring the FACTS that have been placed in the show regarding this(that many people have pointed out here) by the CREATORS of these story lines.
If we question the facts as presented then we might as well question every other fact.

Like did Buffy love Angel or was it just the runaway teenage 'love' that everyone experiences...we are told that its the real deal in the show, but hey people like to ignore facts so we might as well just consider everything presented as wrong.
