Discussion of 5.11 "Damage" (WB-US) - Airdate 1/28/04

This was definately the best episode of this season. I love everything about it!

I especially loved this episode. I really enjoyed that part when Andrew hugged Spike. It was so hilarious, and then he used the reference to LOTR. He was like: "He's my Frodo." LOL.

I was so freaked out when I seen all those Slayers walk up. I was like, oh is Angel going to get it now. I was hoping for a huge fight scene, but unfortunately they didn't have one. That was the only thing that disappointed me about this episode. It also really saddened me to think that Buffy might not trust Angel anymore. She has always trusted him, but like someone else said before, people do change.

I definitely give this episode a 10!

An incredible episode. Possibly the best one yet. I liked seeing Andrew again, still very funny. I loved teh exchange between Andrew and Angel at the end. When he says tells Andrew he go to Buffy about it, and Andrew tells him that's where he got his orders from. Very interesting.

It also showed how Willow's spell could create dangerous slayers, and the consequences of this. Already insane people now with superstrength....not good.

I can't get over how good this episode was, definitly going on my favorite list. This one isn't going to be topped anytime soon...just a truely amazing episode......

And Magui, as painful as it is right now to wait, it's worth the wait....
 
It also showed how Willow's spell could create dangerous slayers, and the consequences of this. Already insane people now with superstrength....not good.

There is always going to be consequences of magic, no matter how good the intent.

And don't forget that when the Shadowmen created the Slayer line, they also brought about consequences. Remember Faith? Or a depressed Buffy in Season 6? How do we know that Faith was the first Slayer to become homicidal? Was Buffy the first Slayer to turn her back on the Watcher's Council? Or become emotionally depressed? Or maybe Dana wasn't the first psychotic Slayer.

Whether Willow and Buffy had casted their spell or not, the Slayer line was bound to come across one girl or woman who should have not been called. Using Dana as an excuse to castigate Willow for the spell in "Chosen" doesn't really seem revelant.

Yeah. I was hoping for a big fight scene. Not that Angel would get hurt. But there were a few Wolfram and Hart security people there. The Slayers could have fought them... and Wesley.
 
You guys all said pretty much what I've been thinking. The two really new thing in the episode were Buffy's mistrust of Angel which I'm certain is due to his now running an office of the enemy, Wolfram and Hart. The second and far more precious to me was the Angel-Spike exchange at the end.
Spike: She's one of us now - she's a monster.
Angel: She's an innocent victim
Spike: So were we - once upon a time
How good was that. For once an aknowledgement that those turned into vampire were innocent victims...once upon a time. Not a free pass mind you did either Liam or William really know what they were about to lose ? Not on your life. Maybe, even though both of them are apparently physicaly incapable of admitting the other on is right, maybe they can really start to work together or at least reach out to help each other.

The thing is, those men didn't care much about the lives they messed up by giving girls the power, they only cared about the fight between Good and Evil, IMO.

KarrinMurphy, I totally agree with what your saying. I really loved the last words of this ep...
 
This was an excellent episode, the best so far. I'm really looking forward to the next DeKnight/Goddard episode in two weeks. Andrew was hilarious. Dana was very creepy. I was begging for Spike not to have done those things to her, and he didn't! Only a human did, not much better. I loved the ending. Not only a great connection between Spike and Angel, but Spike showed guilt! Though I'm a Bangel shipper, I like that Buffy distrusts Angel. He's working in an evil law firm; it makes total sense. Also loved hearing what the scoobs are up to. But what about Faith?
 
i loved this episode! i even started making a banner for it before i relized i have no picture from it 😳

definitely a great ep. everyone's saying what the scoobies are doing, but why arent any of the characters asking about faith? arent they the least bit curious about her? she did capture angelus a year ago after all!

to those that missed the episode, i feel your pain. i've missed stuff for REALLY stupid reasons too. i missed "Chosen" for crying out loud! all because my mom screwed with the freakin vcr!

i hope they do more with the slayers thing, they're gonna start an arc soon, i can feel it, bring on the arc!

My question was answered last night. I always had a question. When vampires get their heads cut off, they turn to dust. Well, let's say their feet got cut off. Would they turn to dust? My question was answered last night, seeing how Spike's hands didn't turn to dust when they were cut off. Ironic.

I LOVED this ep the end of the ep proved how good the chemistry is between james and david,andrew was sooo funny i like his little lunch bag i loved how he played them in the end- that was brilliant thats sad that not even buffy trusts him anymore
 
wow, that was a really good episode. I liked how andrew came in and brought a little of buffy to the show. It's strange that they're not all together anymore though...but i guesst thats expected. So Dawn's in school in rome? thats so cool. Do you think that they really don't trust angel anymore? That seems a little harsh. Do they really think he's gone on the evil side?
I was really scared for a minute there that it was spike that tortured that girl..so glad it wasn't. I can't wait until next week! Cordy's coming back!!

That was a great hour! (except for that whole Spike losing his hands thing.... very sad)

Okay... first of all, let me be the first to point out that the message from Buffy does not mean that she does not trust Spike (dummy Angel...) because she does not know that Spike is alive. She does not trust Angel and his confidantes, because they are working for W&H. Spike is not currently involved.

I was upset when I thought that it was Spike that tortured Dana, but then it was all better.

Nice to see Angel put in his place.

And I officially now like Andrew. He always bothered me before, but I admit it, I'm converted. Putting the penny in his mouth? hilarious. And talking about how he is all trained and much more smooth and then BAM, falling on his face. priceless.

Okay--- one thing that's bothering me: How come Dana had dreams of demons that 'came true after she was chosen' and had all the knowledge of Spike/ William the Bloody and the slayers he killed (and didn't know a darn thing about Angel who was just as bad) and when other slayers were chosen, they had no clue? As I recall, seeing Buffy chosen, she had no idea and no immediate information about horrendous vampires. So, what's up with that.

All in all, a great episode and I'm glad Spike get's to keep his hands. And now, Buffy is definetly going to know about Spike and come running to LA to marry him and liver happily ever after!!!! 🙂
 
I don't know if anyone noticed, but in the beginning of "Damage" Angel made a reference about maybe they weren't doing the right thing by being at Wolfram and Hart. I think Angel knows that going to Wolfram and Hart was a bad idea, but he's just trying to fool himself into thinking that he can change things there. Hopefully when Cordelia comes back she can slap some sense into him. Who knows?
