Discussion of 5.22 "Not Fade Away" (WB-US) - Airing 5/19/04

That episode was so sad...the fight scenes were great but I thought Wes's death didn't have as big as an effect..like you guys said the whole season was rushed..and I'm just sad that the show couldn't have been picked up on another network.

I have heard from one of the saveangel forums..that no network wanted to pick up Angel..why was that?
 
I've only seen three episodes from this season so far, including NFA. I felt sorry for Eve 🙁 I don't really know who she is, but I do lol...

I dunno but I've heard that WB wanted Angel back after they cancelled it and Joss refused lol.
I love this episode, the ending is perfect, I was sad when Wesley died but I think its right that he died so he could be with Fred, I love it when Vail says to Illyria 'Take your best shot little girl' probably the best punch ever shown on telly. I feel sorry for Lindsay getting killed by Lorne, I loved the Hamilton/Connor/Angel fight, very good. I just think it was a very good episode and very well done.
 
True, but he wouldn't have wanted to go on anyway.
I actually read about the whole WB wanting Angel back in a Buffy magazine, so I take it to be true.

Pigs will fly over the money tree the day I accept anything from Buffy magazine as gospel. If it's true you'll be able to find the original quote B M used through Google. Stuff like that is big news. Good luck finding support for that though. I can find you tons of stuff where Joss says the WB wasn't interested in another season of Angel.

You may be confusing this with the WB misinformation campaign, suggesting they might be interested in an Angel mini-movie. Joss disavowed that one too BTW.
 
I think you might be confusing what the mag said, didn't they report that the guy that was in charge of the cancellation regretted it after, But by that time it was too late?
 
Ok Black Eye Guy may be right but that was kinda what I was getting at but I think we should leave it now as its just going way off topic.
Getting back to Not Fade Away I think was a much better finale than buffy, I am more of an Angel fan than a Buffy fan though.
 
lol well its weird cos even though I hated Eve and found her pointless, I felt sorry for her losing Lindsay because he was all she had and I think they did really love each other.
 
Great Episode

This episode is also a favorite of mine. Some people didn't like the ending, but I thought it worked. I loved the Illyria/Fred and Wesley scene. I cried my eyes out when Wes died, just as I did when Fred died. I know that it was technically Illyria talking to Wes, but I like to believe that for that one instance, Fred really was there and really did say goodbye to Wes. I was a little bitter that Gunn was mortally wounded and died off-screen, but hey, it is a Joss show. I'm surprised he let any of the characters live! All in all, a great ending to a great series.
 
Season five started out well, in my opinion, by introducing so many new elements into the ANGEL story line, the most obvious being the relocation to Wolfram and Hart, and the danger of being corrupted by the power offered there, the arrival of Spike as a regular member of the cast, ant Fred's transformation into Illyria. The end was, however, I believe, rather hurredly contrived after the announcement that the show had been canceled. Angel's decision to commit the almost certainly suicidal act of openly attacking the Senior Partners seemed to me to be too similar to Buffy's descending into the Hellmouth with so small a group of defenders (even if they were newly made Slayers, they were INEXPERIENCED Slayers) against what she knew to be an almost certainly overwhelming opposing force of Turok Han guided by an indestructable and very likely all powerful enemy.
