Discussion of Angel & Faith 9.01 "Live Through This"- Released 8/31/11 (Dark Horse)

NFA, if I'm not misstaken he created a situation without thought or consideration to how it would affect anyone but himself and we ended up with him getting L.A. sent to hell and of course after that he came of as the big hero who saved the city even though his reckless actions sent them to hell in the first place.

He was stopping the Senior Partners. Angel has been fighting them for 4 years until he joined them (to which they were still manipulating him). This was basically Angel saying "screw this, i'm going to take the fight to you", he did what he had to do. Wolfram and Hart would still be around if he hadn't taken action, it was a rough journey but he got rid of one of the biggest threats in the Buffyverse

Hmm so twilight just showed up and took over and he had no say in it what so ever? Must have missed that part of the story but I guess when you whitewash you go all out. Yes most people have the capacity to take a life but Angel doesn't not take a life to stop some evil doers he sacrifices life for his own agenda there is a huge difference there or wouldn't you say?

"doesn't not"? I'm sorry I can't understand you, if you can please fix your grammar I would appreciate it

From what I could understand from that post, Angel's agenda is the greater good. "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few", it's one he hasn't had to make too many times, but he has done it, and it's a tough moral decision to make. The rest of the time he generally beats the bad guys, without much problem.

Angel became Twilight to prevent the Apocalypse and save Buffy. Even though people died he averted the apocalypse and billions dying, including Buffy. So in the end I sympathize with him because he took the only option he knew. Do i think him killing all those people was right? No, but he wasn't himself, just wanted to do the right thing and did end up preventing the Apocalypse with his space-sex. So I don't hate him.

Saving souls. Lets do some guesstimate, even if we don't count the people he killed while he was Angelus I would think the number of people that must have been killed during Twilight is far more than the number that he managed to save.

Angel was possessed. I really can't put it any other way. When Angel is himself he's saved hundreds through his own work and his friends. When he's not he has screwed up.

just wanted to do the right thing and did end up preventing the Apocalypse with his space-sex.

What? Angel caused the apocalypse with his space sex and Buffy prevented it from ending the world.

Angel was possessed. I really can't put it any other way.

Angel says he "Should have asked more questions" and that he had no excuse. He wasn't possessed when he decided to put on the mask and order thousands to be killed.

Can anybody tell who wrote the "Horsepower" feature on the very last page? I cannot read the signature, but was disappointed that they were focusing on BtVS season 3. Both Angel & Faith have come a long way from that point (although it was a great season for Angel/Faith/Buffy interaction).

Just out of curiosity...What do you guys think that solve? And by wanting him dead are you hoping that he kills himself or that someone kills him?

I am just really over Angel. I know his character is about redemption, and never giving up and always fighting...but it comes at the cost of so many characters. I could list out all the people Angel has hurt over the years as I could with a lot of the other characters but he seems to think because he is a champion, he can sort of do whatever he wants as long as it's for the greater good. Which I think contrasts with how Giles' sacrifces for the greater good: Giles actually has personal sacrifice (his memory with Jenny, having Buffy mad at him for leaving to help her), Angel makes these crazy decisions that negatively affect a ton of people because he thinks he is doing the right thing. His sacrifices cost people, and as a character, I am just tired of him. At some point you're just causing too much damage.

I'd be fine with any scenario in which he dies honestly. I am mostly angry because if the writers end up putting Angel and Buffy together in the end so they get to be happy, I'll be upset. Everyone else's life gets messed up but he gets to be happy. No.

Wow I really like this premise. It really has the feel of the show. I even like pearl & Nash lol. I could even see this being on tv. Love the Giles flashbacks!

Yeah this was so good. The characters were very on point, and the set up for the story was really intresting.

I'm not sure why everyone is saying their sick of the "bringing people back stories" you guys know that doesn't really happen, we get daft recons for people like Warren but between Jenny, Kendra, Joyce, Buffy, Tara and Anya we didn't get anyone resurrected except Buffy, it's not a common thing thats happened, so I'd like to see it happen with Giles.

I'd like to see what the Scoobies think of the plan considering how well it went with Buffy 😉

It'd also be interesting to see what Giles would say. If any reason is good enough to have Giles back, I'd love to see him working with these two, his flashback was really good.

This comic already has the older feel to it, that the Angel series always had over Buffy.

Who were the two women in the picture with Giles above the fire place?

Loved the flashbacks with Giles and the idea of Angel finishing his unfinished work.

Angel and Faith make a great team...I really enjoy their friendship and dynamic.

I forgot how much I enjoyed reading A&F when it first came out....excited to pick it up again and catch up! 🙂

Who were the two women in the picture with Giles above the fire place?

My guess is his mom and grandmother.
