If Severin has the power to take away the demon within, maybe he can put it in, too.

There is no indication that Severin can do that, and even if he could why would he do it to Buffy? He wanted to take her powers, not give her someone else's. And even if he did it for some unknown reason, it would be silly even by S9 standards for this demon or whatever to show up on a pregnant test. I mean, I doubt that demonic pregnancy tests are available just yet, even with demons being outed.

Well thats just it; we don't know yet why but it would be just like the writers this season to give us some bizarre and unforeseen reason. Also we don't know the extent of his powers and that seemed as arbitrary as taking away ones demonness.
I didn't realize she actually took a test, (thought it was based on symptoms alone but didn't read the issue yet) though should have figured. But in any case, maybe Severin can do something bizarre like transfer an embryo from one person to another. In the first place it seems just as "reasonable" as pregnancy by vampire (which also shouldn't be detected with an at home test), and something tells me not to discount Severin...

Well, you never know, anything is possible I guess, but Allie did specifically say that the conception happened at the party. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

About the Bangel thing, I think that's always been Joss' view too. But I don't expect to see them interacting this season at all. I think we've already been told that specifically.

Ahhh ok I missed that. I guess that rules out Severin then, unless Allie is lying which would be pretty bizarre. 🙂

The team lying happens frequently. Not bizarre, really. They strive to keep the momentum and the mystery - not keep us well informed.

Allie's comment about Bangel makes me want to barf. Really? There is still hope for B/A after all that has happened? Sheesh. If my ship had gone through the ringer as B/A has, I'd give up frankly. Throw in the towel. Feels like pandering to me. Allie's saying that fans want to hear. Irritates me, frankly.

It's not pandering. It's staying true to continuity. If Bangel weren't buried by S2, nothing could ever bury them.

This serves as nothing more or less than to remind the readers that the Spuffy/Bangel issue still exists and hasn't (read "never will") be resolved. It's too big an issue, and Joss, Allie, and just about everyone else involved knows that if there ever is, definitely, an actual conclusion, there will be readers who will lose interest in the series.

In the spirit of shared misery I want to say that it is pretty much insane to ship any couple in Whedon told story, because the more he loves the character (couple) the bigger is the ringer he puts them through. 🙂 In that sense Bangel sure beats any other ship, both historically and currently. But yeah, I will pretty much stop wanting Bangel together only after one of them ( or both ) are dead. Which pretty much makes it till the end of the comic run. As for pondering - comon, DH have been pretty pondery to the other side this season... so there should be no hard feelings. (And I am not seriously concerned with 'resolution' - if my couple were in the same room together making out with others I would have pretty much given up.)

Allie didn't say that the conception happened at the party. He said that Buffy doesn't know who the father is, and that the party will have consequences. There has been some confusion about this (everywhere).

Exactly. It's said in a way to imply they are related but there is really nothing to say that they are.

Thank you! I was going to post this very thing. Agree!

Yep! Buffy doesn't know because of the party, but that doesn't mean the party was the date of conception.
There's nothing really new in Allie's comment. We know that a meeting will probably happen one day in the comics. I just frankly doubt that it will include romance stricly speaking, it probably will be totally different. Buffy is able to forgive a lot of things, but I don't see her getting over Giles' death, as much as I wouldn't have seen her getting over Dawn's death if she had been killed in Wrecked because of Willow in the car's accident. Hurting people Buffy loves is kind of reaching a point of no return to me. For the moment, I think Scott Allie has no idea of what's gonna happen, since it's not a part of the story yet. He can't say what will be Joss future plans in that regard, since I don't think Joss himself knows it (it will depend of the story he wants to tell)... All he can do is giving his thoughts. But if he wants to keep all the portions of fans interested, he has to give ambiguous answers.

Allie didn't say that the conception happened at the party. He said that Buffy doesn't know who the father is, and that the party will have consequences.
English isn't my maternal language, so I'm maybe wrong in my way of understanding it, but when we see the way Scott Allie puts it :

"She got black-out drunk in #1, and it turns out there are significant consequences."

His answer imply that the pregnancy IS the consequence.

Oh, SA is renown for giving answers that imply without actually meaning it, if not for outright fibbing. RE: Spike and Angel's appearance in S8 might be limited to that infamous panel in arc 1. They will be used 'sparingly' - with Angel being Twilight all the season. Drusilla might be the figure standing next to Harth in Fray arc. Etc.

Implies, yes. My point is that he didn't say it - and when the team is routinely going to great lengths to conceal the next plot twist, what they didn't say is as significant as what they did.

Buffy will think that she could have had sex with someone at the party and that the someone could therefore be her baby's father. That in itself already qualifies as "consequences".

That's true (still, the events you're speaking about were depending of a "maybe", they weren't passed yet), but I guess Joss knew while writing #1 that he wanted to come to that consequence. If their idea was having Buffy getting pregnant while she was drunk, it seems to be a done deal now that she's actually pregnant and that the editor seems to confirm it as the day of the conception (his words don't imply ambiguity here). If Buffy goes to a doctor in the next issues, she'll probably know how old is the fetus, it should give us a definitive answer.

I really hope it does end up being Xander and Buffy's baby. Bander fan since day one here, and I'd be very happy! 😀 🙂

But, it was Xander and Buffy's baby, think about how much that would damage the Scoobie's dynamic. Dawn would feel betrayed, and Xander and Buffy would be wrecked with guilt. Not the way I want to see the two have a baby. I'd feel different if Xander was single - but he's not. And Buffy knows better. Plus, I"m on the Buffy/Xander friend train, so any romance between them makes me feel icky. I don't want them together only because they have a baby and think it's the "right thing to do." I want Buffy with who makes her happy, and who she chooses.

Really? You'd throw in your ship towel if Angel got involved with someone else other than Buffy? Interesting. That's not how I feel at all. It doesn't bother me that both Spike and Buffy have been with other people. In fact, they should be. It'd be odd if they didn't pursue other relationships.

What I do know is that Spike and Buffy are meant to be together - I believe this with all my heart - and know when the time is right they will find their way back to each other.

You misinterpret me. I would have given up if I saw both of them making out casually with other people in front of each other at the same party - both drunk and not caring about each other. When they are torn apart and develop relationship with other people it is quite different. But this is something particular to Bangel - it can be put through a ringer and sent to Hell but never killed by indifference.

Honestly I don't care much about Dawn, so it wouldn't be a big deal for me. Also if the father is REALLY Xander, there would have to be some really good explanation, because why the hell would Xander and Buffy have done that knowing that he's with Dawn right now and all? It will probably not be him, anyway. Oh and I get the Buffy/Xander being best friends. 😛 I'm one of the few who'd like to see them together, but I still love their friendship, just like with Cangel.

Angel seems really doubtful too. Like others have said, there's no magic anymore and the only reason Connor was born was related to the work of Jasmine.

All in all, this should get interesting.

Agreed on the Angel thing. I really don't see how it could be Angel's baby with magick the way it is. Then again, I feel like the rules of no more magick in our plain has a lot of loopholes so far (Severin, zompires, being a slayer), I wouldn't be shocked if they made it Angel's baby.

With my favorite otp being G/J, I am not a huge fan of Angel right now, and would lean more towards Spuffy right now, but I could be happy with X/B. So the thought of them having a kid is kinda neat, but not when it is under the circumstances that Buffy doesn't remember it having and Xander is dating Dawn. I hope that's not the case. I just can't see how Buffy, Xander, and Dawn could ever be ok again.

Who knows, maybe Joss doesn't want them to be okay. Maybe he wants to create a different dynamic of Buffy's relationships. Giles is dead, Willow parts for an indefinite time... maybe Joss plans to estrangle Buffy from Xander and Dawn too.

That said, I doubts that Xander is the daddy. It's too weird and goes against everything I know about the characters.

Alright, lets think out of the box - and go in a different direction entirely. Preview implies that a vampire should be able to smell pregnancy , as well as sex. Question is - Spike over-protectiveness since the beginning of the season means anything? 'She needs normalcy' - does he already know? Would not he be able to sniff the sekret lover out already? Spike was at that party - would he be so indifferent to Buffy smelling of sex coming out of that Heindrich guy place ? Or her smelling of Xander? Would not he had a talk with her or Dawn or Xander already - if he smelled Xander on her?
