This topic has been stirring around in my head for a few years. I didnt like likes on facebook and I don't like that other sites are forced into the same format. I have a lot to say on the topic but (as usual) will likely go off track when I try to say it. So I wana know - what do you have to say about it?
Do you feel that likes shape the online world?
Do you notice likes encouraging a sense of entitlement and allowing arsehole behaviour as long as it is popular?
What emoticons do you think should be an option in replies? Do you feel the limit of 5 emotional reactions to be restrictive?
How do a lot of clicks translate into world domination?
Do you see benefits to the world shaping of this model?
Do you notice people that are only open to positive replies/reacts and take offense to anything less than encouraging (in anything from personal opinion to fact)?
Can those who feed on likes experience a disconnect between online importance and real world skills?
Do you post with the aim of receiving likes or with the aim of expressing yourself?
You do not have to answer these all - feel free to pick and choose which you would like to address, but I would be thankful to read your responses on this topic. 🙂
Personally, I think there needs to be a slap emoticon.
