Source < If you were wondering it took me less then 10 seconds to source this!
I'm sorry but IMO this is totally ridiculous. This might stop 'art theft' or whatever (ot that i've really seen any) but this will just drive people away from making art and thats not what its about.
It doesn't matter that you haven't seen it, in fact it's better that you haven't, but it's been brought to the staffs attention numerous times about people stealing other people work and claiming it as their own.
Whats really confusing is, people spend ages creating art in Photoshop, but they can't take the extra few seconds it will take to credit the source of your materials??
I said earlier in the thread that you could save any new textures or whatever as the name of the website or make a folder for a website and save all the textures from that website in there.
Buffy Summers has already pointed out that for any of the stuff you don't know the source of, just state that when you post your piece, and that you will link to the source if anyone knows where it's from!
Its out me off creating and posting art on here. I can't see how it stops Plagiarism, someone can still save/use my work as there own, only now they can even credit it properly so it looks like their's if anyone asks! how handy for them!. In none of my Art have I said I'd created the textures/fonts that I've used so I don't get what the big problem is? I'm not claiming there mine. I'm just saying here's what I took and I put them together and created this, a unique piece of work.
You've totally missed the point of how this stops plagiarism, people most likely aren't going to post works that have been plagiarized now, because now they have to link to their original material, if it's been taken from someone else they wouldn't link to that original piece knowing people can click on it and see they've just taken someone else's work.
HisMrs has told you how frustrating it can be to have your work ripped off so blatantly, so obviously it's annoying to the original creator, and that has to be respected.
Not to mention this (as I already said) is an awesome way for people to share websites for resources. It's also a way to keep track of the best websites, I only go to like 2 websites for resources because they update them, if you have work you like from a website, most likely they will continue to update their stuff with more work you'll like, so instead of forgetting the source as you have been, this give you a chance to make note of it and go back and check for updates!
Also if you do forget to credit (which Im sure we all will starting out), just go back to your previous post and copy and past the text, and just replace the sources!
