"Bottom line is, even if you see them coming, you're never ready for the big moments. No one asks for their life to change, not really. But it does.
So what are we? Helpless? Puppets? No. The big moments are gonna come. You can't help that. It's what you do afterwards that counts. That's when you find out who you are.
You'll see what I mean."
- Whistler, S2
"You're not friends! You'll never be friends. You'll be in love 'til it kills you both. You'll fight, and you'll shag, and you'll hate each other 'til it makes you quiver but you'll never be friends. Love isn't brains, children. It's blood... Blood screaming inside you to work its will. I may be love's bitch, but at least I'm man enough to admit it."
Spike, S3
" 'Strong' is fighting! It's hard and it's painful and it's everyday. It's what we have to do."
Buffy, S3
"Passion. It lies in all of us. Sleeping, waiting, and though unwanted, unbidden, it will stir, open its jaws and howl.
It speaks to us, guides us.
Passion rules us all and we obey. What other choice do we have? Passion is the source of our finest moments. The joy of love, the clarity of hatred and the ecstasy of grief. It hurts sometimes more than we can bear. If we could live without passion, maybe we'd know some kind of peace...but we would be hollow. Empty rooms shuttered and dark.
Without passion, we'd truly be dead."
Angel, S2
"In the end, we all are who we are. No matter how much we appear to have changed."
Giles
"I look around this world you're so eager to be a part of...and all I see is six billion lunatics looking for the fastest ride out. Who's *not* crazy? Look around. Everyone's drinking, smoking, shooting up...shooting each other, or just plain screwing their brains out 'cause they don't want them anymore. *I'm* crazy? Honey, I'm the original one-eyed chicklet in the kingdom of blind 'cause at least *I* admit the world makes me nuts."
Glory, S5
"I hope she's strong enough to make it. Peace is not an easy thing to find."
Wesley, Angel S1

What I think is interesting about it is how things progressed with Spike and Buffy as the show went on. He was right about her and Angel; they were never friends, not really. But she and Spike were lovers, then friends, then (presumably), both. As a Spuffy fan, I have to love that. I think it's interesting how early on in the show we signs that Spike is able to get her in ways other people can't. He has insight into her somehow.
i actually don't think it's because he knew buffy well, or had some deep inside into her that no one else had. i think it's more because of his age and his own experiences with love. i mean, when he said that he was still heart broken over dru. he knows that when you've loved someone so deeply and so unconditionally, you can't go back to being friends. buffy and angel knew that too, they just pretended to be friends. also: I think spike was the one to point it out cos he really didn't care whether he was hurting buffy or angel with it lol
