Fair enough if you want to sin in order to be with the one you love, but if marriage is a religious ceremony than what right does a gay couple have to get married? None!

And dont get me wrong, I have nothing against Gay people but I totally object to Gay Marriages.. and if you are a christian then so should you.

I'm not a Christian and can't pretend to know that much about Christianity, but I'm confused how can you have nothing against gay people if you firmly believe that being gay is a sin. In your world we are bad people, I would think therfore that you would not accept us.

You said that gay people have no right to get married. Why? Is marriage defined by Christianity. If the Christian God sanctifies marriage by your logic Buddists and Hindus have no right to marry either.

Also, I repeat being gay is not a choice I don't "want to sin" if homosexuality is sinful I am sin.

I have nothing against Gay people because it is their choice. God gave people the right of freedom and choice and if someone decides to be Gay then its their right to be Gay even if it is against the will of God (and therefore a sin), hence I have no problem with Gay People.
In reference to the Buddhism/Hinduism comment, they do not 'marry' under our God, they 'marry' under their own Gods and their 'marriages' are not the same as a marriage in the Christian World, they go by different terms and conditions of commitment and it is unfair of us to call it 'marriage' because it isnt. It is their own religious bindings. Besides, what would it matter if they were sinning anyway? They dont follow the same God as I do.

Marriage is defined by Christianity, because it is a christian practice.

Ok i know my opinion doesnt matter, but thats just like saying, no your not allowed in my house because your different to me, and not doing what i want. I think its terrible how Homosexual people are treated. Its as though people look down on them and act like their better than them because they dont love the same sex. Its no right. I mean i do belive in God, as someone noted something similar before, Why would God make gay people have feelings for the same sex? So he could punish them for those feelings? i dont understand?

And im not trying to be rude or anything but that is just my thoughts on this thread.

I'm not gay so don't quote me on this, but I don't think a person choses to be gay, I think its just the way they are, like I don't chose to like men.

I'm a religious person, I don't go to church every Saturday but I do believe in God and I'm a Roman Catholic. What I learnt from my religion is don't judge others, I have no right to say whats right and wrong. I think the church needs to realise its contridicting itself. God is the only one who has the right to judge. And if the arguement is that the Bible says its wrong to be gay, what you have to remember is that neither God nor Jesus wrote the Bible.

You shouldn't have to think of yourself as sinful because of who you like. You shouldn't have to be punished for who you like.

Your opinoin counts here. That's what a message board is for; to share your opinion and talk with other people about their opinion.

Ok gay people don't choose to be gay...If God didn't approve somehow of it then why would he create them as they are???That's how I uderstand this, just don't quote me coz I'm not v.religious..

I have no problem with Gay Marriage, but it would be a little weird to see to gays/lesbians in a tux/wedding dress. But, that's just me.

Why not two tuxes or weding dresses? In all the cultures I'm familiar with there are different wedding clothes for men and women. I don't think it would look strange to see two women in bridal clothes or two men in male weding attire. Its just my opinion though.

If you love someone and want to get married, then it should not matter if they are your cousin, your brother, your sister, a member of your sex, or (forgive me lmao) your parents! You should be able to marry whoever you want! America is supposed to be about freedom, right? We shouldn't be Nazis! We shouldn't be looking for perfect couples or a perfect society! We should be looking for happiness.

Wow...i went a little deep there w/ that last statement lol

You all say 'Why did God make people be gay, to make them miserable?'... GOD DIDNT make ANYONE Gay!! Its a choice that people make. You all say that being gay isnt a choice... but of course it is! You may have feelings for the same sex and you may not choose to have those feelings, but if you flat out practice homosexuality then you are choosing to be gay and to sin?!
Same as you can choose to be single or choose to be a couple or choose to be christian.

God did write the Bible.. he wrote it through prophets and disciples and it is his word. Just like getting married is an act of eternal binding in the name of God even though you cant see him standing there with you.
The Bible is God's word and if it says that homosexuality is against his will then it is against his will... so how can gay couples be allowed to marry under the name of God in a religious ceremony?

Being gay is NOT a choice! You cannot choose who is out there for you, who is your one true love. It just happens! If that person is of your gender, then so be it! There is love, and if you insist on bringing God into this, then for an hour every sunday, all I hear the priests talk about is God wanting people to love. So tell me Vampyr, what is wrong with love?

I'm not trying to change your opinion, I just wish you would broaden your horizons!

Vampyr....I don't know if you are aware of this or not...seeing as how you apparently wear blinders and are not aware of everything going on around you...

Not every marriage is a CHRISTIAN CEREMONY!
Whoa...did that blow your mind? Cause I don't fancy spending the next month trying to get Vampyr brains out of the carpet...
If Christians don't want gays to marry, then they should'nt marry them in their churches or with their sanction.
But that is no reason why they cannot have a legal marriage.

You BELIEVE that gays chose to be gay, you do not KNOW that. So do schizorphrenics who kill people go to hell because they chose to have a psychotic disorder? Hmmm...
Interesting..

Are you gay, Vampyr? If not, I'd like to know where you got the impression that you know what you are talking about.
I've had gay feelings since I was THREE...wow...that's a pretty big decision for a three-year-old to make dontcha think?

I'm not trying to be mean...and maybe I shouldn't be participating in the conversation...because I happen to take it very personally...but then again...it IS personal.

I totally agree with Tamuril and Vicious. I think you guys are right on the dot with this one. You don't chose who you fall in love with. It just happens. And not all ceremonies have to be under a Christian law.

What does God think about Bisexual people? Are they "unholy" too?

Yeah, or maybe we're just half-unholy? I'm bi, and my parents have basically condemned me to hell. I am most definately for gay marriage, and I've already made my opinions known on the subject, but I read an article in the paper today about a protest against it. It just upsets me in this day of age, we're still very close-minded about these sort of things.

Ok, let me try to understand this. I'm a lesbian, I love women. The idea of having sex with a man disgusts me completely. If I ever consented to heterosexual sex I would feel like I was raping myself. I'm a virgin gasp, but am gay.

Being gay isn't about having sex. It is about what a person is on a fundamental level. Under you system of values what should I do with my life? Should I be celebate forever and never have a lover or a family of my own. I don't want to be alone when I am 50 or 60 and I am human. For me celebacy for the rest of my life is definitely not an option. Being gay isn't a sexual act. I'm sory if this goes against your beliefs, but I know from experience that you can be gay without being sexually active.

I think that Jesus says in the Christian Bible that thinking about sin is the same as commiting it. In that case all gay people are sinners, since we cannot choose our feelings we sin in our thoughts. So why shouldn't gay people who believe in Christianity not have sex since they are already being punished without acting? I'm not a Christian and am curious.

Where exactly in the bible did God say that? especially the sin part. I'd love to read it.
I mean I've gone through it once or twice, my mom's read it, read books on it an' all and y'know maybe it is just me, but I never saw it.
To me, what you said bout choosing to be day and acting on the feelings lil oxymoronic...proven unhealthy not to act on feelings, specially strong ones, not much stronger than love is there? what if one day some thing/person/group (for instance the church) decides that something you are is evil and hell worthy...how would that feel? say you're straight, and people decide, "hey y'know what, let's pull a reversal, let's not like straights. let's use that as the new all purpose universal insult." imagine walking in school halls and instead of hearing "oh that's so gay" or "you're so gay" hearing "oh that's so straight" or "oh you're so straight".
it's easy to say stuff like that, and not fully understand, if you've never really been a minority. untill that minority is rather disliked in the school you're at, or the place you work, the town you live, the country. untill you know how it feels to have to hide part of yourself away from others, and hear it used as an insult every single day, it might be a good idea, to not say its a choice. it's not.
its not to feel or not feel, its not to act on it or not, its not to be or not to be, its not hamlet, its not shakespeare, its life, its a persons heart. its not something ppl just decide.
There is a line in the bible that says a man should not lay with another man. Its archaic. two or so lines above theres something about how women should be completely silent in worship and in other places.
Thanks to our scientific advances we know that a man doesn't have a finite number of seed to sow, as they believed. They were rather concerned with expanding the size of the people, so wasting seed was a major no-no.

They've twisted bible words before. they've messed up so many things in translations, and the society was very patriachial (sp?). Mary Magdelene, for years, maybe hundreds of them, was portrayed as...well...pretty much a whore really. The pope apologized, for the church's portrayal of MM, cuz she was important, and the writers (who wrote the new testament roughly 30 Yrs after Jesus died) prolly weren't too keen on the possibility of a woman being more important than them. Church has been like that for a bit. some cardinals used to be known for their orgies.
they used to make eunuchs of cantors so they'd keep the voice.
10 commandments, if i remember properly, thou shalt not kill is thou shalt not murdered. major diff, there, holy wars and all. all the righteous warriors gonna burn in hell for following church orders.
i'm not a fan of the church, it does have some great things about it, but,,,i dun like confessing sins to some guy i can't see, i dun like them wanting to run my life and i hate that they say i'll go to hell, just cuz i'm not straight.
Why is marriage just christian? gov't shouldn't make religions marry ppl, but it shouldn't discriminate against others on the basis of who they're willing to commit to.

What happened to the pieces in the bible that say you shouldn't judge others? and that you can't condemn others, only god can? i've always gotten the impression that jesus was aight with ppl, openminded and all. i can't ever remember reading anything jesus said that ppl that weren't straight, would go to hell.
thought they were all bout unconditional love. maybe i got confused with some other diety/religion.
Some phobes are self loathers, others just go along with the pop. opnion, but most people that put other ppl down, haven't the biggest self confidence.
Not all countries are close minded. I can't remember any other countries other than canada and the netherlands. I'm positive the dutch allow same sex weddings. One of my teachers married her girlfriend, my aunt has a few married gay friends. See to the dutch it doesn't matter. very open minded people they are, on the whole, i'm sure there are a few people that aren't but....personally, it matters more to me if a person has a 1001 hairs than if they have a 1000.
sorta went on and on with this...usually don't just...post but...my school's phobic. everyonce in awhile it gets to you, specially if you're not comfortable with anyone to tell them. parents are cool with it, i just dun wanna discuss it with them.

marriage, it depends on the people, they can view it as religious or not, but i dun think the gov't should discriminate in that aspect, i know its hard to seperate church and state, but...if you take out gender and look at what it is, two ppl in love with each other who want to commit, and to have it confirmed, to have something physically to show for it, theres more to it but...they're willing to make the commitment, willing to pay the money, make the sacrifices, to be married. why should it matter what gender they are? me, i'm all for it, if someone wants to get married, why not? it doesn't matter.
