So, new season has started. Felt good to have a new episode again...I missed this show over summer.

I'll just put the rest in spoiler tags for those who haven't seen the season opening yet...

So we have a definite meeting place now for the mother. I'm guessing the wedding will take place at the end of the season?

I have to say, I really adored the premiere. I wasn't too happy with S5, but this episode showed the return of some real heart into the show. It was great to see the characters once again acting like real people with genuine emotions, rather than the caricatures they had become. And it's great to get a proper hint about the mother, it feels like the show is really heading somewhere again.

About the wedding - am I crazy or is it the wedding of Barney and Robin? Half of me says that it's ridiculous because neither of them have ever wanted to get married, but the other half says "well, who else would Ted be best man for?" Half of me wants it to be theirs because I want them to end up together, the other half doesn't because I like that they are unconventional and would be perfectly happy without getting married. So, I'm torn.

Really looking forward to the rest of the season now - I've never been more interested in the "who is the mother?" mystery.

I really would LOVE it to be theirs :)
I assumed this was supposed to be Cindy's wedding, because of the buildup of the two important days being meeting the girl of your dreams and marrying her...
But now that you've mentioned it...not once did they actually say it was her wedding, and it would be strange to make him her best man considering how they hardly know each other.
I guess they didn't show Robin or Barney in the future scene on purpose, to spark exactly that theory...

It can't have been Cindy's wedding, because Ted was best man. To have a best man, you require a groom, the one the that Cindy's wedding definitely didn't have. Plus, Lily and Marshall seemed to be in the wedding party - if she hardly knows Ted then she definitely doesn't know Lily and Marshall.

I'm not sure if it is Robin and Barney's wedding, but I know it's definitely not Cindy's.

When I first saw it I thought it had to be Barney/Robin who else would have Ted as the best man, and Marshall/Lily in the wedding party. I really, really hope it is. I want Barney/Robin to end up together. I'm just trying to think of why would Ted's future wife be at Barney/Robins wedding.

I am thinking exactly what you are. We share the same brain. (:
I too assumed Barney/Robin, though to be honest I wasn't a huge fan of them together, it just never felt right to me...Also I'm really excited for someone who's coming to the show related to Robin's past....STOP READING IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW SOMETHING DOWN THE LINE...Glitter, Robin Sparkle's rival, I hope we get another song or two haha.

Looking at everyone's posts, should this thread just be labeled as having spoilers haha?!

lmao I was thinking that too, cause its odd having every post be highlighted spoilers

Especially since I can't view spoilers from my iPhone :( makes this thread kind of hard to read!
I saw the way Barney reacted to Robin in the dress and I knew they were going to do Barney/Robin again. Part of me is irritated because I hated it. The other part of me is excited because I bet it is Barney and Robin's wedding. As for the theory it's Cindy's wedding...
someone said you can't have a best man at a lesbian wedding.... false. You can have whoever you want in your wedding party. They don't even have to be that sex... remember Willow was Xander's best man... last I checked, Willow was a girl. So you don't have to follow traditions.

But yeah, I thought it was a great premiere and I am very excited for season 6. I read and heard Carter and Craig said season 5 was low and promised to get the show back on track with season 6, and I think they're doing that.

Lovely start of the season. Felt like a classic HIMYM episode, that's always good.
Personally I thought Alyson in that t-shirt was the best part of the episode... 😉

Let's just call that a close second... :)

Perhaps she is somebody's plus-one? Or she could be a photographer, or a waitress, or even the registrar.

And yeah, you can have whoever you want in your wedding party, but you would expect the traditional set-up, it is the norm. Willow is an exception because she's been Xander's best friend since forever, but I really don't think that Cindy and her partner are close enough to Ted, Marshall and Lily to have all three of them in their wedding party.

Was anyone else really disappointed with Aly's performance this past episode? My teacher (who I keep trying to get to watch Buffy) was talking about this past episode and how he didn't know if Lily was "fake crying" or actually crying the whole time because it would not be out of character for Lily to "fake cry" for attention... I was under the impression she was supposed to be "real" crying and was arguing that and he said "then that would make your precious Alyson Hannigan a bad actress because we can't tell" and I told him to go re-watch season 2 of HIMYM and watch Buffy to find she DOES do emotional stuff well. He then argued "I know she does, but that would make this fake crying because she CAN and DOES do emotional stuff well." So what do you think, fake crying, or just bad acting on Aly's part?

Pretty good Thanksgiving episode, but then again - I always love their Thanksgiving episodes. They've been some of my favorites.

I really wonder where they're going with that whole Zoey story...

Giving Ted a love interest and (in their minds) hopefully trick some viewers that she's the mother. I don't mind seeing more of Zoey so I'm not complaining.

I don't see how they could trick anyone because they opened the season with Ted saying he met the mother at a wedding. He did not meat Zoey at a wedding.
