How I Met Your Mother season 6

I still think the last words of the series will be "And that, kids, is how I met your mother." So I doubt the mother is going to show up anytime soon. However, I really like this season so far. The writers are really stepping up again 🙂

Because people are forgetful. People have been saying a lot of the women have dated has been the mother even though there's been clues/facts that always point to the fact that it can't be.

Should people fall for it? No, but I guess what they hope/want make them ignore things that don't support it. Or they're simply forgetful. A category I usually fit into.
 
I also thought Zoey could be the mother but she lives with the Captain and the mother is the roommate of the girl whose name I forgot who was played by Rachel Bilson.

Loved to see Jorge Garcia and all the references to Lost 😀
 
Okay - I'm ready for the mother to come out of hiding. I mean, the show's still fun - I just...want to meet the mother already.

Sorry, just impatient.

That was a nice surprise (since I didn't know, lol).

haha Yeah it was a surprise to me too. As was the ending of this episode which made me cry very hard! Poor Marshal!
he just found out he's fertile and now his dad dies?! And he was so close to his dad! And Aly crying when she told him...
 
I KNOW!!! I was smiling and laughing throughout the episode, and then extremely sad. 🙁

Me too! It was like "this is such a funny, good episode! Great way to start the new year!" And then "Oh god. I hope my Wed. comedy shows leave me feeling better than this."
What a nice touch to bring back you know who. Really didn't see that coming. I wonder if this was a one time thing or if they're gonna keep him for a couple of episodes? If they do, please don't end up getting him and Robin together, that would really suck.

As for the rest of the episode...I'm not sure about the ending...
deaths just don't really go with sitcoms. My brother keeps telling me the show is getting too much drama, and it's episodes like this that prove that point.

I really don't mind the drama and
my favorite sitcom of all time dealt with death on a pretty damn regularly. That show was Scrubs. and it did just fine.

I can't rep you but I agree - Scrubs had me in floods so many times it's not even funny. I think that's the beauty of good comedy - things don't have to be either/or. Isn't that part of why we love the Whedonverse so much?

I think that last scene was very well done, and I really welled up when
Marshall said "I'm not ready for this", because that's essentially what you feel like when a parent dies. No matter how much you tell yourself you're a grown-up before, that's when you know that happy fun time is over for realz.

I didn't see the ending coming either. Did anyone really? I don't mind a bit of drama but don't want it to be too much. Deal with it for an episode or two but when move on. Not that it can't be brought up again but not as a major part.

As for the guest star I was happy to see them back. Hope this will be more than a one time thing even if I don't think they'll be in every episode.
 
I didn't even read the spoilers but when I then watched it after, as soon as we saw
the camera panning over Marshal's dad's workbench, I saw what was coming. Poor guy.
I think it was very well done. HIMYM may be a sitcom, but I don't see why they couldn't handle other, more serious themes gracefully as well. I wouldn't want to watch a show that is only in it for the laughs and nothing else.

As far as the bit with the guest stars, yes, those were awesome.

Also, go Robin! (sw)
 
Damned, it is really impossible not to cry when Aly is crying!
That episode reminded me of 8 Simple Rules For Dating My Teenage Daughter, it was a comedy show as well and there was also that kind of thing that happened in a episode I didn't expect at all.

(Loved to see the guest, he is such a seductive bastard!)

I really upset with the end, even tough I had read the spoilers!
 
I was not expecting the ending either. When Lily and Marshall were crying I couldn't hold back my own tears. So sad 🙁

On a lighter note I loved the Robin Scherbatsky/Sparkles montage! I was laughing throughout the entire thing. HIMYM put me on a short roller coaster of feelings this episode
