How Long Is Your Hair?

My hair is past my collar in the back!
Yep, men's hairstyles are all lengths, it's now quite common for longer hair on men.

Is the viking look still fashionable, long hair and a beard?

When I was younger my hair used to regularly be down to about my belt. In those days it was jet black.

Now there's more than a touch of grey in there I get it cut once a year.

It's currently just past my collar.

What do you with long hair do with it when you sleep?
I havent had hair this long for 10 years and now Im getting tangled in it in my sleep. It always happened when I was a kid too, but its annoying me much more now because I now have the option to chop it off!

Same thing as I do with it during the day, nothing! If it starts to strangle me then I move it but other than that I leave it as it is. If it's hot weather, then I'll do a low loose messy bun to gey it away from me, but otherwise its down or up or however I had it during the day. Occasionally I'll remember to brush it before bed, but it's rare!

I can never go to bed with it tied up, it hurts and breaks near the lacky. But then it is free to roam and get stuck under my armpits. I wake up in a bind. Maybe I should do many little plaits cos one or two are too wide and fall out. I wondered about hair bonnets, but I move a lot so that would probably end up suffocating me.

Yeah I don't think I could use a bonnet either, it would just fall off. I'd probably find it by my feet or something in the morning!

Sometimes I braid it. A pretty loose braid though, sometimes pigtails. But maybe that hurts on you?

Usually I do nothing, but I’ve never noticed getting tangled in it either. Are you a wild sleeper? 😉

I tried a bonnet! It was always gone by the morning, so unless you can tie it under your chin or something, I can’t say I found it helpful.

I'm going to try loose braids, thanks, as long as there is no elastic to pull, its not painful. I toss and turn a lot especially in summer. I'd definitely strangle myself if I tied anything to my head.

I think I was traumatised by childhood dance competitions, sleeping in secure curlers with pins is the stuff of painful nightmares!

Ouch, sleeping with pins sounds awful! I can barely stand them while awake

Sleeping with pins! WOW! Nocturnal Acupuncture! Now there's a novelty.

A number of ways to keep it out of the way: loose ponytail (and off centre if you especially sleep on your back), a loose topknot, loose plait, pigtails...

I should invest in scrunchies again. They didn't pull like elastics do.

I disagree, scrunchies do pull, if you pull them first.
Cooks and chefs have these hair nets that will go around a ponytail and keep it from spreading out to places you don't want it to go. Maybe you should be shopping at a food service supply store.

I have hair nets from my horse show days haha. they never stay on without a helmet or bow tho
I put my hair up (very high ponytail stubbie on top of my head) at night or i cannot comb it next day.. Not tight though. I use those hair ties that look like old telephone cord - they don't snag my hair. I sleep on satin pillowcases because otherwise the back breaks off due to friction.

I have very, very curly hair that is also very fine. It gets uber dry in winter - so i have to baby it or cut it all off when it breaks in back (i am a back sleeper). I dont like really short hair though when i was a bike messenger i cut it short i did not love it.

Sadly since menopause it doesnt grow much past shoulder length without breaking. It is even finer and dryer than before.

Do it! That’s what I did, I now love scrunchies and can’t remember why we ever gave them up for stupid elastics

For fashion? That often seems to be the answer to why is something less practical being used! 😀

Darn fashion! You are, of course, right!
Question for you @Anyanka dear, when you cut my hair collar length (#21), do you cut my hair inside or outside of my collar?

Have you considered a hair oil or a treatment? Just something to put on the mid-length/ends to try and protect your hair from breakage, especially at the back?

I'm sure it's something you've considered in the past, but if not, something to think about!
