Interesting enough, it also had an old internet bit circulating for years (presented as breaking news) of "time travelers in the early 20th century" (caught in photos, supposedly with an iphone taking pix, which makes me wonder, beyond taking a pic, would such phones even work back then?)

It even had more on Oswald (something about him having been a brutal wife beater). Though also current, there was a lot of gossip on celebrities from decades ago (one calling a celebrity "washed up" with an unflattering modern photo of her--it was generally about as mean-spirited as middle school, and didn't even try to hide it despite all the religious theme items they were selling in the ads). Heh, even when being fairly kind in their gossip, it was over the top, like calling one celebrity couple who broke up as cougar (older woman) and crooner, all easily imagined as whispered in your ear than respectable journalism.

Not that respectable journalism exists in even decent quantities today (unless you count only the profits it generates). But it was still a nice break from political BS, even if there was an article on why the Queen hated Trump, but even that sounded more like social gossip talking about his boorish behavior around her and some tweets so someone a hundred years from now might not have even realized he'd been President.

There was a "singles section" in which virtually everyone was about retirement age (I think one man was 81). It's possible that they were all older because younger people use dating apps, but I got a very strong feeling from the stories and all the ads that their target audience is that age. I wonder if Globe will survive that generation passing away...

I can't look anything up, I've already tossed it in the recycling bin and it's gone. At least my curiosity about its popularity is satisfied.

Forgot to mention...well beside that I can see how it makes the elderly feel relevant still with plenty of fodder from previous decades, and has the old gossip games from early school years (like gossiping about former stars who almost certainly know about it, just like classic mean girl games), even a dash of fantasy of going back (like the time travel story), it has another use I wanted to point out...

This is PERFECT if you need material to talk to your hairstylist or salon worker with, when you don't want to talk about your own life or the weather. "Did you see [insert a celebrity from a former decade]? She really let herself go. I doubt even you can help her now."

And lots of other stuff to talk about instead. It had small entries on the more shocking current stories as well.

I recall it being mentioned somewhere here that some (which would include me) don't like how hairstylists and such keep trying to talk to them, so I wanted to throw that out there.

Or you can do what I normally do, which is go to a beauty college. They have days that they're open to the public. It can be hard to get a seat sometimes, and it's really slow (though sometimes that can be nice if you enjoy what they're doing), but it's not only a lot cheaper (rarely, even free) it's usually a good job. And they're so focused on getting it right that they can't talk much beyond asking questions directly related to what you came for.

Harmony got a longer walk this morning. Double her normal. Her harness barely fits around her anymore cos shes gotten so fat! It was too much for her little mind. Overstimulated as heck since we've been home, trying to chase the bunnies, peed on the kitchen floor and would not settle down. She has now but wow, I was hoping a long walk would wipe her out, not hype her up!

Lilahs walk was short and sweet and now shes fast asleep. She was excellent and didnt bark at anyone. Its nice to have the park to ourselves but its also nice to see other people around town, (without chatting!) Makes it feel less like an eerie ghost town.

Was thinking about making a quiche and potato salad today. Not sure if I will yet because I am going to go shopping tomorrow after the meeting anyway and I always get takeaway, so dont need any leftover from today. Its nice and cool outside so I am going to get as much done in the garden as I can as well. So much raking to do. Dead grass and dry leaves everywhere. Its all a bit of a fire hazzard at the moment!

That is scary! I came home the other day and realized that I had forgotten to lock my front door 🙈 (dumb dumb). There is nothing worth stealing here, but just the idea of someone being in your home is very unsettling.

Glad they were unsuccessful, and that the alarm clearly works!

Mom was rushed to the hospital again. She'd only just left on Tuesday.... her dementia is horrifying, just horrifying. Call me selfish, but I COULDN'T face it. I just saw her last Sunday, in the hospital....stayed about 30 minutes. My stepdad is with her pretty much around the clock.

To comfort myself, I grabbed four 10mg edibles. That was six hours ago....and I'm still pretty buzzed. Ooooh, music sounds SO much better after those edibles. My face feels like a marshmallow for some reason. 😂

Also, I made crinkle cut fries with ground sirloin and onions....topped everything with A TON of shredded cheese and some ranch dressing.. I'm eating it now. 🐷

I woke up in severe pain...I'd fallen asleep sitting up with my legs propped on the coffee table. When I tried to get up, it took 10 minutes; to stand up properly. The worst part was severe nausea....I've been throwing up for hours. Entire body is super weak. I'm guessing it was that can of Chunky Soup I had last night. 🤢 Had to stay in the bathroom awhile, just to be by the loo. We all know how gross throwing up is! Especially when it goes on and on. Currently sipping water and resting. I'm so weak, it's scary. Was thinking about going to the emergency room earlier, but I'll just ride this out at home. Don't have the strength to leave the house, much less drive.

My sister wanted be to go with her to visit mom in the hospital later on. That won't be happening. But no matter HOW sick I feel, I'm not skipping my daily shower.

Thank you, sweetie. I'm staying home! Just got Paramount+ so I'll be watching lots of Star Trek stuff. Not Picard, though. It's a mess and most of those people are WAY too old by now. Patrick Stewart looks like an animated corpse. 😟

Any chance this could be morning sickness? Were you jealous of @nightshade and @Last Watcher having all the fun because you had your fun earlier? A little baby Anyanka Bunny Slayer would be cute! You could feed him/her this:

Must be a tummy wog doing the rounds cos Lilah spewed in the kitchen, just as my dinner was ready. I didnt want dinner anymore after cleaning up that. Shes been a brat all day, probably fed her too many treats. She did the most manic run on the driveway after picking up a stick she shouldn't have had. Lets hope dinner stays down for her, or its vet tomorrow!

Watching A quiet place part II now. Looking forward to a shower later and bed. I must go to the op shop tomorrow as I saw something I want through the window and want to check out their dress range since its been a while. Might go to stitch and bitch too, but I usually chicken out cos I just want to crochet some little booties for a preggo friends baby and don't really need the chat part of it. Although I havent had any town goss lately since my neighbour is away...
 
Did not do any as planned today. I did cook a bunch of food so thats sorted for the next few days. I need to get back on track tomorrow and into walkies again. The dogs are filthy from so much time in the yard today. They desperately need a bath but its only going to be mid 20s tomorrow and that seems a bit cool. Friday will be mid 30's if we can hold out that long. I dont have a blow dryer for them.

I might need to find some man help. I have a few light bulbs blown for a while now and I am getting sick of using the torch. But I pass out if I hold my hands above my head for too long, and dont want to be doing that on a ladder. My neighbour is away and I always feel bad asking the christians cos they have done so much for me and I live so far from them, but they might be the only option. I'd put on a lunch for them but I know they wouldn't eat my cooking cos they have seen the kitchen when its a mess haha. Might have to come up with some other way to say thanks before I ask them.

My day turned out pretty good. Crept up on my doctor...the element of surprise is always good. Gives him no time to prepare. I'd nearly forgotten it was time to refill my pain meds! That right there tells you I HAD to be sick. 😈

And to the carwash, then the market to buy pudding and top ramen, just in case I'm brave enough to actually eat something later. I'm feeling a little better, though. I'm still a bit weak from all the vomiting and continuous trips to the loo...but I'm hanging in there. 🤘

I'm sure I would have remembered. But it hasn't come back to me yet. Was it good for you?
No toyfair! It's good to look, but between my arm and the cost I'm glad we're not going. It's a long day getting the train and the tube to Olympia in London and while some of it is paid for, like the train and tickets, I still end up spending money so it a relief that we aren't going this year.
