How Was Your Day?

I'm really really sick. I've been in my nightgown all day, hiding under a blanket. Haven't even showered yet because I'm too weak to stand. Also I've been throwing up a lot. I have the chills and am just a mess. Still, I'm going to force myself to take a shower. Warm water and lots of soap makes me feel good.

Feel better soon!
Pictures from last Saturday, November 25 at the London Vintage Radio Club. I had seven items for sale and three of them went.

At the left (with the sloping face) is a scanner. Next to it with the lid open is a bar / dot generator for setting up colour television. Next to that with the meter at the top is a television sweep circuit tester. The left half of the Heathkit AR-3 radio shows up in full in the next picture:

DSCF0121.jpg

the Heathkit radio is in the middle of the screen followed by a Heathkit capacitor checker then a Paco capacitor tester / bridge followed by a tiny transistor tester.

The radio and the two capacitor checkers sold and everything else remained, but they were the largest volume items, so I ended up with a bit more room on the shelves at home. The yellow pages in front of some of the units are the schematics of the associated units. I picked up a power supply, but it is a small one. Another win over the entropy that is my cluttered lab.

Last week was hectic. Flooding at the beginning of the week, my patio and laundry were under water. The lightening took out the power and the Internet. Power came back on later that night, but the net was fried. Followed by, what is now considered, extreme heat (35C+ for a couple days). My laptop carked it and my bank account was locked on suspicion of fraud. Fires sparked by the storms flared up very close by but now all under control.

I was glad to have a good bible study to do, short and didnt go over my head. I think it helped a lot in a week that would usually overwhelm me.

Hopefully this week will be quieter!

Yesterday was ok... I had a headache all day and then ended up getting my first nosebleed in years. I know it's because of stress (I'm getting ready to move), but definitely not my best day. I'm hoping today is much better.

I do not envy you moving! Well, the moving process itself, anyway.

Love seeing you around <3
I had to go out this morning for a meeting and then shopping. I tried a new lipstick today and it makes me look like a clown. I cant wear mascara without looking like a drag queen either. I dont like make up but the cake face helps me to take a back seat and let the robot programming takeover. Behave, people are watching.

Some days I am so thankful to have a reactive poodle. I really dont have the energy for every man that wants a chat while I am on walkies. Today the man came bounding up to us saying "hey whats your name! Thats a nice dog" . And then my "nice dog" went ballistic and wouldn't let him a step closer. My saviour. I love my dog so much. Maybe I should take the make up off before walkies next time.

Lol, my dog has the opposite reaction. As soon as anyone gives him any attention, let alone calls him nice, he's immediately like "OH MY GOD, FRIEND? LET'S BE FRIENDS!!" Which can be cute, but is mostly kind of annoying.

I think my dogs take after me 😆 see a male person and they are immediately suspicious.

There is a dog on our walk route that I call the BFD, Big Friendly Dog. My dogs have been saying hello through the fence since he was a puppy, he's now up to my hip, and still growing! He is such a goof, no good as guard dog at all.

Yeah, mine's a BFD too. Worthless guard dog.
Except for his size, people get immediately vary of the size. But he is such a big goof it is easy for them to overcome that.

The size is my dogs secret weapon... Draw them in with tiny cuteness and WOOF them away when they least expect it.

From my experience the bigger the dog, the friendlier they are (unless otherwise trained). It's those little ankle biters that are some mean bastards by nature.

people often underestimate the small ones, and assume they’re sweet little toys
I keep ruminating about past mistakes and what I should have said and done. I don't know how to stop. Especially when I am on the train and my mind wonders.

I am getting the place ready for my next rent inspection. I just fixed the latch on the front gate, went to knock to bottom back into place and the screwdriver went right through the wood! Its all rotten. Hopefully they dont blame me for rot... My neighbour across the road just took out all his wooden fencing cos it was rotting away. Maybe I should measure it up and see if I can replace it before the landlord comes.

Dishes are done, gotta sweep out the flooding crap from the patio next. The hedges were looking spectacular but the rain made them grow again! So they might need another go-over. Mum gave me a super stick vacuum so that has made indoor tidying a much easier chore. Vacuums are a great invention!

My previous landlords have never done rental inspections! I think that's great though; makes people take care of their shit!
One thing that is nice today is that it is the day of earliest sunset in the northern hemisphere. Sunset happens at 4:41 PM here at 43.6° N x 79.6° W in our place two miles west of Toronto. From now on, the sunsets are getting later. The latest sunrise comes on January 3, 2024 at 7:51 AM. The perihelion (closest approach of sun to earth) is January 2 at 7:38 PM. The solstice is on December 21 at 10:27 PM.

The nights are getting later even if the days are starting later. The split in times of the latest sunrise and earliest sunset are due to the elliptical orbit of the earth around the sun.

Yesterday was a bit crap. Found out my step-dad was taken into hospital friday night and would have died if had not been found at the time he was. So in hospital now on an acute ward having tests and being monitored while they work out whats wrong and fix him. He on antibiotics and rehydrating him and monitoring his sugar levels as is now found out he is diabetic. So just a waiting game to get more information at the moment.

LOL I love dogs like that. So adorable!

Moving has went well so far! I got all the big stuff moved this last weekend, but still have a few small things to go get and then I need to clean the apartment really well before turning the key in. I'm not sleeping great at the new place just yet, but I figure that will take time. New sounds and all that, you know?

I've been rewatching BtVS and it is so fun. I am going episode by episode on IMDB, too, and reading the trivia for each episode. Did y'all know that David Boreanaz played The Master in certain scenes of "When She Was Bad"?!

I thought it was the actor who played Giles, but I'm probably mixing it up with a scene in the ep. Still, I knew the Master was played by someone else other than the actor, for a reason that was actually clever (psychological, and reflecting that this is Buffy's dream--and if Angel, then maybe a hint of Slayer warning of Angelus later on?), but I forget the details.

Abbs has to do another test and if it comes back the same she'll get camera tested for Crohn's 🙁

On the upside Dad is now out of hospital as of an hour ago and now an outpatient 🙂

It's been a hell of a week and it's not over yet :/

Good luck with the test !
I changed my broadband from BT recently and had to use their online messenger service today to query something.
I explained my issue and the operative replied "You don’t need to worry, I got your back" which made it sound like he was saving my life! BT must have told their online helpdesk guys to be more relatable !

Went to an assembly today. It was really good. Makes me want to watch The OA again lol. I hadnt been in the entertainment center before, and its very small considering it caters for that whole city. Seats were comfy tho. I was hoping the baptisms would be on site, just dunk them into the harbor, but nah, they took them back to a proper pool.

Got maccas on the way home and it was FERAL. I usually love maccas, even bad maccas, but seriously the cheese burger tasted so bad I spat it out and chucked the lot. I wanted to drop into the shop at the next regional centre on the drive home but they had the road blocked off for Christmas carols. Luckily the general store in the next town over had milk and chilli sauce, so I am set for a better meal at dinner than lunch was.

I love driving but its really taking a toll on my back now days. The dogs are happy I am home laying on the couch with them under the air con. Nice day 😊

Truck was in the shop for a few days because it's leaking coolant and wouldn't start. I think it might be time to cut my losses here, because this has gotten ridiculous. Since 2020, at least $8,000 has been spent on repairs. (Truck is only worth about $1,700 max) Next time it breaks down, that's it.

I'm there with my car, too. It's so hard to know that line when you should stop repairing.
