The Latin dance circuit has presented me with a lot of laughs since I joined in late September, but last night had a couple of moments that will go down in my own personal history.
One of the things I never liked about some of the dances is that if you ask a girl to dance, she may say, 'I'm just taking a break' then ten seconds later, someone else asks and she is up dancing with him. Last night, it worked in my favour. Someone asked one girl I know to dance as I was headed back to my seat. I arrived about ten seconds later and asked her to dance and she sprang right up and sprinted to the floor with me. While I was dancing with her, she said, "You are the best dancer on the floor tonight." As the place was packed with about 600 people, most of them a lot more skilled than me, I remembered Xander's words as Anya complained about men then asked him to the prom: "One of us is very confused and right now, I don't know which one of us it is."
The next one may not be appropriate by some standards, but when you get a crowd of that many people, some of them are bound to be violators of propriety. One of the girls there was a good - but salacious - dancer. You couldn't help but notice her. She was about 5'5", had a pretty face, D-cup, tight waist and nice legs and she could dance, but always in the most suggestive manner. She had on what looked like a beige satin dress, but a closer look showed that it was just a slip. She wasn't wearing a dress of any kind over it. One of our team of bachata boys was dancing with her and there is a move where the guy bends her backwards over his knee. She drew the upper leg up and I and the girl I was dancing with could see all the way up one leg and down the other - she had no panties on. What kind of a girl comes to a Christmas dance commando and only in a slip? One of the organizers came by and the girl I was dancing with told him about the girl showing off her intimate parts and his answer was a completely deadpan:
"I'll look into it."
I burst out laughing. If you heard laughter coming from the Toronto area last night, that was me. We had been "looking into it" on a couple of occasions.
