Potential
I like that he is enjoying Dawn ^_^ and loving Angel season 2. He's very easy to please for someone who nit picks and analyzes everything.
And a character standing in the way of "your" ship is bound to be disliked whatever they do. That's how you get characters like Kennedy and Riley being hated so much despite never really doing much wrong, especially compared to the rest of the cast.
She clearly doesn’t LIKE him, but she’s beginning to accept the idea of being able to USE him. Veeeeeery interesting.
Checkpoint is up. Oh, how I love that episode. From enigmaticagentscully (a first-time watcher commenter):
Painful foreshadowing. Ouch.
I’ve had people follow me, break into my dorm room, sexually assault me, harass my friends, steal my property… I won’t continue. Note that I said “people.”
I think there might have been something to a Spike and Buffy relationship, but after this episode… sweet baby Jenny Calendar, this is not something I want to see without some severe soul-searching on the part of Spike. Ha, that’s a funny term to use because he doesn’t have a soul.
Jodast agrees: sometimes it's uncanny
But honestly, this episode has done a fine job of squashing any potential Buffy/Spike shipping on my part. Ew Spike. He really is gross.
He is genuinely trying to be good sometimes, but a lot of times he’s only doing it to get Buffy. That is the problem. It’s a selfish reason for being a good person, and Buffy can see right through it. Yet even when he gets the chance to express his feelings to Buffy, he speaks to her as if she owes him a relationship.
drizzlydaze agrees: Me too, except I find Crush too uncomfortable to enjoy
One of his comments a few episodes back about how it is Darla's choice if she wants to be a vampire or not and how Angel should step back really annoyed me. Angel isn't about to let her become a soulless murderous vampire again; that's just common sense, not taking away a woman's right to choose.
Taking away the woman's right to...become a serial killer. That Angel! What a bastard!
Personally I blame him for not staking Darla and Dru after he set them on fire, not for infringing on Darla's "right" to become a killing machine.
That's not who Angel is though. He's about redemption and saving souls, remember when he was Angelus he did things worse than both Drusilla and Darla, so when he sees them in season 2 (of Angel) he wants to help them, because he was redeemed himself. Spike was a soulless vampire for a long time also and he was give many opportunities, so it's only right that Darla and Drusilla be give the same chances
